Transmigrated as The Forgotten Extra-Chapter 88 Battling the Senior, Part 02.
A dry thud resounded in the silent arena, attracting everyone’s attention to the middle of the stage. Abel stood still as he was keeping his swing posture still. The other one, was a male senior who lay on the floor, he shook his head furiously after receiving an attack so hard it rattled his brain.
The atmosphere in the place froze, no the world itself seemed to mute. Its overbearing pressure lasted for several seconds until a clapping sound broke the tension in the air.
Everyone turned their attention toward the source and witnessed a grey-haired boy walking forward. Both his palms didn’t stop slapping each other.
His action drew the seniors’ attention too. Some contorted their faces at his distasteful behavior, which seemed to mock their defeat. But the grey-haired boy’s focus was locked on the two male seniors: the fox and the self-centered leader.
Cain stood in front of other cadets, his presence alone shrouded the surrounding area in oppressive pressure. He peeked toward the two seniors, both of their expressions were flat, showing no apparent reaction toward the defeat.
However, that was enough. Because things would get interesting later on.
Abel, who snapped out of his thoughts, straightened his posture and bowed his head toward the senior, then to other cadets as he made his way back toward Cain’s side.
The blonde boy raised his palm, which Cain answered with a slap. A crisp sound lifted the corner of his mouth in glee. Cain turned to general Dosh who stood away from him. The man’s expression was hardened, his jaw dropped to the floor.
Cain snorted, then glanced at the red-haired man who stood beside the general. His imposing figure kept his expression calm, maintaining his composure as a leader. Yet that very composure made a sneer twist within Cain’s inner heart. He turned toward his other teammates and opened his mouth.
"Who’s next? Hurry, don’t let the seniors wait!"
His exaggerated tone made everyone in the arena gulp, especially the other juniors who felt the tension elevated higher. Not only them, but the four people who stood behind him widened their eyes. They took a deep breath, never seeing their leader so engrossed in his act.
Rika exchanged glances with the other three. She shrugged and glanced at Louise beside her, giving the trembling girl a reassuring smile.
"I’ll be going."
"Rika."
Before taking a step forward, her body flinched when hearing Louise shrill call and the pull on her hand. Rika squeezed Louise’s hand, causing the brows-haired girl’s body to flinch.
"Don’t worry. We did this for our precious comrade."
From behind Louise, Peter, and Abel walked closer as they gave the trembling Louise a pat in her back. Rika loosened the grip in their connected hands, then lifted her feet to leave the group.
As he got closer to Cain, the grey-haired boy raised his palm. The girl pressed her lips together and clapped her palm together, producing a crisp sound.
Rika scanned her surrounding area. She raised her brows when she met eyes with a boy holding a pistol in his hand. The girl moved closer, causing the boy to step back with a flushing cheek.
When she arrived before the boy and the crowds behind him stole a glance at her. The girl mercilessly cut them off as she extended her hand. Her tone was laced with authority.
"Give me the pistol!"
The sharp command made the boy flinch as if struck in place. His hand trembled as he offered the training pistol. His trembling hand extended forward, giving the training pistol in hand.
Rika snatched the pistol, then turned around. With a click, she pulled out the magazine. A single training round was chambered. It would have to be enough for her spar.
She nodded and pushed the magazine inside, then flicked the safety pin as she strolled toward the middle arena. The girl closed her eyes, then took a deep breath to calm her thundering heartbeat.
Her eyes fluttered open and gazed at the figure of her best friend, surrounded by the most reassuring line-up of the strongest boy she ever encountered. Rika’s lips loosened into a faint smile, but it soon faded as a fragment of Louise’s crying face resurfaced in her mind.
’This is for you, no, it was for all of us. Let’s grow together as a team, and I’ll start it by presenting you guys a win.’
Unlike Abel, who approached the senior to issue a challenge. Rika stood still in the middle as she shifted her attention toward the green-haired girl standing on her left. She could see the cadets around the senior girl also focusing their eyes on her.
The red-haired girl put her hands on the gun handle while the muzzle pointed downward. She took a deep breath and opened her mouth.
"Please take care of me, Senior."
The green-haired senior widened her eyes, Rika’s words were clearly directed at her. She fixed her glasses and took a step forward.
"Very well, my name is Helana. May I know yours, cadet?"
Helena sauntered into the center. Her delicate fingers coiled around the bow, ready to place an arrow into her opponent.
Rika’s lips pressed together before she hesitantly opened her mouth.
"My name is Rika. I look forward to our spar."
Helena nodded, her right hand took several arrows which she pinched around her fingers.
"Let’s begin."
Rika took a deep breath, letting the sound around her fade into nothingness. Her red pupils contracted like camera apertures, her vision sharpened and the world coming into hyper-focus.
While at the same time, the thump in her chest flooded her entire body with a warm sensation, a power she recently controlled after receiving tutoring from her leader.
A jolt of raw power swam through her veins, enveloping her flesh and bones. It awakened the dormant power residing within her body.
Her pupil dilated as Helena released her arrow. Color started to fade in her vision as her eyes could see only an arrow travel in slow motion approaching her side.
Rika intended to step to the side, but halted midway when she saw her opponent had already prepared an arrow ready. Its dull tip was pointed at the path she would take.
In that single exchange, Rika understood: this opponent was on a different level than anyone she’d ever faced as a sharpshooter. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
She pointed the muzzle forward and pulled the trigger. A sharp crack rang in the room, sending the bullet flying in a straight line. Her face contorted in focus after smelling the tangy scent of sulfur.
The bullet and the arrow clashed, deflecting each other’s trajectory. Helena didn’t stop as she released her finger to send another attack toward her opponent.
However, instead of rounding the game, Rika dashed forward. She clenched her hands tight around the gun hilt.
’I can see it!’
With precise, enhanced movements, Rika dodged the incoming arrow while simultaneously adjusting her aim.
Knowing her opponent’s intention. Helena stepped away from her place for she was having a bad match up in close distance combat. But, it doesn’t mean she was bad at it, only a little bit above average.
The two were playing attrition in the sparring. As a long ranger, they have to calculate the distance and aim at the right moment to strike their enemies blind spot.
Both of them were equal in many fields and the spar turned into stalemates. However, no matter how good they were, at the end of the day one of them might cause a blunder.
Rika, who pointed her muzzle in front, pulled the trigger, Yet the only echoing sound was ’click’. She furrowed her brows and halted her steps.
Seeing the chance, Helena reached out to her back, but she grasped nothing but empty air. The girl twisted her neck sideways, seeing no arrow left in her quiver.
’I’m out!?’
However, that split second as she let her guard down. Rika had used the distraction to close the final distance. Helena’s vision shook, a jolt on her back brought her attention toward the figure of a red haired girl who straddled her from above.
Rika was holding nothing in her hands, but the girl utilized her honed technique to pin her down while gripping her neck.
Helena held her breath, she locked gaze with her Junior Rika. Within her red-eyes, the green-haired girl watched her own reflection. A widened eyes with a gaped mouth.
She parted her lips and opened her mouth.
"I lost."
