Chapter 107: Chapter 107:Rankings [3]

Good, not only was the environment the same, but the beast was as well.

If I lost this practical with this big of a headstart, I’d be genuinely embarrassed.

As my group caught up to me, I gave them a moment to rest, saying.

"Read the menu; we fight the boss in five."

Unfortunately, they all seemed to skip past the first part of my instructions, looking up at me with confused expressions.

Tilting my head, I asked sarcastically.

"What? Don’t we want to get a high individual contribution? If we go to the boss now when no one’s around, it’ll be easy to get damage in."

After a moment of silence, Kim finally took the initiative and carefully asked.

"No...we understand your words...but are you saying you already know where the boss is!?"

Waving my hands up and down, I responded, barely holding back my urge to use sarcasm.

"Yep. Now, read up. We can decide on our formation on the ride there."

This time, all but one of my teammates heeded my instructions as Sage raised her hand, like a student in a class, and curiously asked.

"What do you mean by ’ride?’ Are we not running there?"

Shaking my head, I leaned against the many rocks, resembling a small mountain range, behind me.

Considering the power of an awakened individual, the rocks were...oddly weak and light.

Like pieces of playdough waiting to be carved into something.

Taking my pen out of my pocket, I instantly pressed its top, feeling the blood-red blade surge outward while my hand gripped its pitch-black hit.

Cutting at the air in front of me in a clean diagonal slash, I continued.

"Everyone cut out a piece of the rock. You’ll be riding it, so cut wisely."

Setting an example for them, I angled my sword so that it was diagonally to the rock face in front of me before slashing.

Like slicing through butter, my blood-red blade passed through the rock before eventually halting upon hitting the sandy ground.

And, like a banana being peeled, an elongated oval-shaped rock, resembling a surfboard, fell off the rock and toward me.

For the next minute or two, the two boys and Jade cut at the rock, carving out shapes similar to those of my surfboard.

Even the bow-user, Kim, had managed to shoot an arrow through the rock at an exact angle so that a surfboard-shaped piece fell off.

As a buffing spellcaster, Sage could only stare in silence at the three of them using their weapons.

Thankfully, surfing wasn’t something new to this world, so the three of them figured out my plan to traverse the environment with no explanation.

As all five of us walked across the beach, toward the ocean, Sage stayed silently and just followed.

How did she have so much confidence in me...?

What if I were planning to abandon her here so that she wouldn’t get any individual contribution toward the boss fight?

Why did she believe I already had some plan set up for her?

At long last, as my shoes stepped into the shallow water and my legs began shivering, her voice sounded.

"I guess I’m riding with you, then?"

Turning around to face the girl with light-yellow eyes and long purple hair, made into perfect curtain bangs that must have taken ages to prepare, I paused.

Her pupils resembled those of a half-crescent moon, and despite the tense atmosphere, she was chuckling as if this were a game to her.

Examining my surroundings, I quickly placed the rock surfboard flat on the water, allowing it to float, and announced.

"Hey, you’re staying back here."

At once, everyone froze.

Halting in the ocean with water up to their ankles, my four teammates instantly stared at me, a variety of expressions apparent on their faces.

Kim’s eyebrows immediately sunk, and his lips began quivering while his eyes were locked onto my figure.

He was angry.

Alternatively, Ren and Jade were just outright confused as their mouths opened and eyebrows raised.

Unlike Kim, they seemed willing to just accept my abandoning of Sage.

Finally, her expression remained the exact same.

Sage didn’t even blink upon hearing my words, a soft smile still on her face.

Since my entrance into the Imperial class, I had been watching my back. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

I had angered over a dozen royals by simply being in the class, as my spot was "supposed to be for their son."

Even though most royals would simply stop at anger, I knew that some would go that extra mile and try to get me kicked out of the class just to give their child a spot.

But, how could they do that?

Through students.

As the five of us stood there in silence, shivering due to the water, Sage suddenly stepped deeper into the water, chuckling once again.

"Good one, Jett! Anyway, let’s head to that boss spot you mentioned."

Doing a complete 180, I smiled and replied in my best jolly tone.

"Thought I’d loosen the atmosphere a bit. Of course, I wouldn’t leave any of our team behind!"

Gripping his heart, Kim almost dropped his bow and answered in a relieved tone.

"Ah...you got me. After that scare, this boss fight should be nothing!"

Behind Kim, both Ren and Jade’s expressions remained serious for a moment.

But then, a second later, a relieved expression appeared on their faces as they pretended to take a deep breath in.

To be even accepted into Glaive, one had to have amazing physical capabilities, so everyone within the group was able to balance on their respective surfboards.

That left Sage.

Kneeling down on my board, I reached my hand out, and she easily grasped onto it, allowing me to pull her up.

Standing back up and looking forward at the waves ahead, I announced to the group.

"We’ll be crossing the sea."

Then, in a quieter tone, I looked backward and said to Sage, who was standing behind me.

"Don’t destroy the center of balance."

The surfboard was like a balanced seesaw, with Sage and I on opposite sides.

If either of us moved, the seesaw would tilt up or down, causing one of us to fly into the ocean.
