Chapter 121: Chapter 121:Antique Excursion [2]
"..."
Staying silent, I simply raised my shoulders, bumping them into the bottom of her chin and sending her staggering back.
If it weren’t for her spilling everything I had done during the practical, Mira wouldn’t have asked me all those questions earlier.
Dramatically stumbling backward, as if she had just been stabbed by a sword, Sage raised her hand horizontally over her head and said.
"Oh no, the great Jett is ignoring me...what shall I ever do!?"
"..."
Using every last bit of my strength, I kept my expression neutral and continued looking forward.
However, she just didn’t stop.
"Resting her hand over her forehead and leaning backward, she gazed at my back and yelled, as if she were acting in the play.
"AHHHHH! T-the pain of unrequited love."
My neutral and angry expression immediately broke as I spit out whatever saliva was in my mouth right into the air and stumbled backward.
Within a moment, everyone in the vicinity was gazing at the two of us with eyebrows raised and mouths open.
The club president had halted his conversation with Coal to look at the two of us with his eyebrows squinted.
For fucks sake, the princess was even gazing at us as if we were two psychos.
There went first impressions...
If she had been planning to attract the attention of the audience, she had succeeded.
Turning around, I saw Sage with her eyes raised and mouth wide open, ready to spit out another bullshit line from a Shakespeare play.
But...she knew I knew.
Making eye contact with me, her cheeks immediately puffed up, and she winked, as if daring me to make her stop.
At that moment, I think I finally understood why demons hated humans so much.
Dropping my act of nonchalance, I sprinted backward, my anger growing as Sage saw my facade break.
"This love feels like I, that feels no love in th-"
Reaching her before she could finish her sentence, I went behind her and cupped my palm before covering her mouth, causing her remaining words to turn into gibberish.
"t-thi-s"
Not even resisting, Sage simply tilted her upward, making eye contact with me, and smirked, as if happy with the result of her actions.
Sighing, I asked, ignoring the now even more confused and disgusted gazes on us.
"Are you done?"
As she nodded her head, I slowly removed my palm and took a deep breath in before slowly smiling and waving at the crowd of students watching us, acting as if everything were fine and normal.
After a couple of moments, everyone went back to their respective conversations, but I doubted the memory would disappear any time soon.
Suddenly, though, Sage turned around, her purple ponytail hitting the side of my cheek, and asked.
"So, what are you, of all people, doing here, anyway?"
"..."
At a loss for words, I paused, unsure of what to say, before eventually muttering.
"Are we just pretending like t-"
Interrupting me mid-sentence, Sage tilted her head to the right and gazed up at me before asking.
"What do you mean? What happened?"
"...I give up."
"What was that?"
Shaking my head and looking to the right to avoid her yellow, excited eyes, I answered.
"Our teacher offered extra credit for attendance."
Immediatly turning back around and opening her mouth wide, Sage said while facing forward.
"If you don’t tell me the real reason, I’m going to do it ag-"
At this point, it was an instinctual reaction when I wrapped my right hand around her head and covered her mouth.
"a-g-ag-ain"
After a moment of attempting to yell through my hand, to no avail, Sage suddenly raised her right hand and pointed forward.
Thinking it was some type of distraction for her to scream, I ignored it; however, she began shaking her entire body, pushing me backward.
"Stop, will you!? Just don’t yell!"
"mmm~ph t-t-there s-she mmm~ph"
Not falling for her tricks, I simply gazed down at her as she spoke, but at that moment, a voice suddenly sounded from my right.
"Ah, three more newcomers. Welcome, we should be departing shortly."
As I suddenly looked forward, Sage grabbed my arm and pushed it down before saying, while continuing to point ahead.
"That’s the girl I talked to!"
At the end of Sage’s finger were three familiar figures in Mira, Scarlett, and Evangel.
Unwrapping my right hand, I retreated backward; however, the damage was already done.
Scarlett simply stared at me with a disgusted expression before turning around and walking toward Charlotte.
Mira’s eyebrows were raised as she gazed at the two of us, but she quickly looked away.
As for Evangel, I couldn’t even tell if she noticed me or not, as her expression remained emotionless.
How hard was it for her to do that?
I had attempted to imitate her expression, and within a minute, Sage had broken it wide open.
Snapping me back to reality, Sage sighed and asked.
"So, what’s the plan? You’re going to head to some random spot on the mountain and "luckily" find an ancient artifact worth billions of gold coins?"
"...I located one boss during the practical. I can’t see the future."
"And, how do I know that?"
"Because I would have killed you to prevent that scene from earlier happening."
After a couple of minutes, the remaining Imperial class students, including Zeke, had arrived alongside ten more Worldly students.
In total, there were about thirty to forty students, more than double the original amount in the book.
Seeing everyone gathered up near the gate, the president walked to the forefront of the group and announced.
"Please prepare to travel around the mountain in groups with NO LESS THAN FIVE PEOPLE! This is a necessary precaution due to the number of people who either got lost or hurt last year."
"In just a couple of minutes, all of us will head through the mana gate and arrive at base camp, which is located within the small town of Reinhard."
