Transmigrated as the Novel's Final Boss-Chapter 74:The Academy’s First Night [3]
Chapter 74: Chapter 74:The Academy’s First Night [3]
The truth was, it was much easier to quit than continue.
All quitting took was a single second, while persevering required hours of hard work and dedication
The only thing I had ever been committed to was my education, and that was only because of my parents.
If school were optional, I most likely would have dropped out ages ago.
Looking away from the stands and back down at the soft tan-colored ground of the arena, avoiding Mira’s gaze, I froze.
I had thought this world would be a new chance for me to redefine myself and change for the better, but I was bitterly wrong in the end.
The environment might have changed, but as a person, I had remained the same.
Change isn’t as easy as simply deciding upon it.
It requires effort, energy, and most importantly, time.
Changes don’t occur overnight; they require days, even months, of consistency and perseverance.
I wanted to change...but I didn’t have the time.
At that moment, letting my anger get the best of me, I kicked my right leg at the soft and sand-like substance on the arena floor.
As my shoe made contact with the ground, the sand immediately flew into the air...however, its descent never came.
Instead, the dozens of separated sand particles floated in the air, curving from my shoe to the right.
It took me a moment to simply process the floating sand before I finally snapped back to reality.
Time was my element.
I had said I needed time...and my element had responded.
However, why had it responded?
Had the elemental gods or world simply wanted to see me change?
Or, perhaps and more likely, I had accidentally activated the key to controlling my element.
Nevertheless, my element had appeared, and now...I had the time to change.
No more excuses.
The first step was following my bet with Mira through the end and winning this damned competetion.
Raising my right palm back into the air, I felt my entire body flood with energy.
An unknown substance coursed through my body, not mana or blood, instantly repairing and healing all my muscles and tendons, sending them back in time to their original state when I had been well rested.
Unlike the unresponsive nature of blood and mana, this grey substance bent to my will.
When my brain commanded it to move to my right arm, I immediately felt all the muscles in my entire body, besides my right arm, return to exhaustion.
Alternatively, my right arm and palm began to bulge with energy as visible grey veins appeared all over my right forearm.
But, something else was there too.
Besides the grey veins covering my right arm, a few small blue veins formed, leading into my palm.
Mana.
Clenching my hand and closing my eyes, I imagined the shape of a small raindrop, recalling the countless days it had rained back on Earth.
Suddenly, my right palm was overcome with a cool sensation, forcing me to open my eyes.
And, there in my palm, lay a small raindrop, colored a similar shade to Mira’s eyes and the size of a penny.
Feeling my right arm slow and return to its normal pale color, devoid of any veins, I immediatly cocked my hand back and rushed it forwad
Combining my awakened strength with the boosted muscle strenght in my right arm, I released the raindrop straight into the air.
Like a spaceship departing from Earth, the raindrop flew straight upward, overshadowed by the massive light-blue fireball above it.
A moment later, as the sand in the air suddenly descended and the right portion of my body was overcome with exhaustion, the ocean-blue raindrop met the ocean-blue fireball.
Surprisingly, as they collided...nothing happened.
The raindrop simply entered the fireball and disappeared, like a cup of water being poured into the ocean.
However, a couple of meters in front of me, an excited voice suddenly sounded from the stands.
"YOU DID IT! YOU ACTUALLY DID IT! BE READY; THEY’RE COMING!"
Mira was jumping up and down, like an excited puppy, while staring at the phoenix’s figue above.
Unfortunately, my right arm was completely out of use as it lay by my waist, not obeying any of my brain’s commands.
*SHATTER*
Before I could even respond and question Mira’s statement, the sound of glass shattering suddenly echoed from above me.
And, as I looked up, the magic bubble directly above the phoenix...had burst.
The portion of the solid magic bubble above us shattered into thousands of tiny magic particles and rapidly descended toward the phoenix, like rain falling from the sky.
Within a moment, there was now a circular-shaped hole in the supposedly impenetrable bubble surrounding the academy.
Horrified, I looked to my right at Mira.
I had expected the magical particles sent by the seniors to come...not the ones protecting us from the outside world!
However, in contrast to me, Mira had a wide smile on her face, as her ocean-blue pupils glowed while watching the rain of mana particles.
Afraid to ask her if she knew this would happen all along, I sighed and sprinted backward, heading back into the circular-shaped hallway that surrounded the arena.
Running to the left, I eventually returned to the coliseum entrance before, this time, taking the path that went upward.
As I reached the closest sections of seats to the arena, Mira was already meters above, in the farthest and highest section.
She reached her hand out the highest she could, touching the thousands... no tens of thousands of mana particles that had gathered around the phoenix’s left wing.
Shaking my head, I climbed the massive stairs that led to the opposite side of the phoenix, recalling the raindrop of mana in my hand.
Technically, I had controlled and manipulated mana...but it had no real use in combat.
Mana particles followed elemental particles, but as I saw, it takes time.
I couldn’t just stop and wait a minute for the mana particles during a battle.
Arriving at the seats closest to the phoenix’s right wing, I hesitated before yelling.
"You knew I couldn’t control my mana, right?"
