What kind of person offers a seat to someone!?
Of course, they saw the seat; they’re not blind!
They just chose not to sit in it!
Feeling my heart practically beat out of my chest, I slowly turned and looked at my black-haired seatmate, who had offered the middle seat to Evangel.
He had dull black eyes and hair that practically blocked his eyes...a normal background character.
Of course, that could all change.
With that one sentence he had just said to Evangel, he could quite literally become one of the main characters.
Getting involved with the protagonist this early could rocket him to stardom.
Halting mid-step, Evangel confusedly looked back, probably not recognizing me due to only seeing the back of my normal amber-brown hair, and paused.
She couldn’t really say no because of her inherent kindness, and she really had no reason not to sit in the seat.
Thus, when she nodded her head in agreement, the black-haired boy quickly scooted in his chair, allowing her to pass.
Sighing, I shook my head and accepted it.
It’s not like I’d be able to avoid her for the three years at the academy, especially due to the small size of the Imperial class.
Perhaps some exposure therapy would help.
As she passed by the boy’s seat and pulled out the middle chair, the boy immediately nodded his head and asked.
"I’m Raze; I don’t believe we met yesterday."
Thankfully, as she sat down, Evangel simply glanced right at the side of my head before being distracted by the voice.
Glancing down at Mira, who was in the row right in front of me, I almost laughed upon seeing her collapsed on her desk with her eyes closed.
At that moment, as the clock hit 8:00, the sliding door opened, instantly attracting everyone’s attention.
From the commotion, Mira’s head suddenly popped up from her desk like a bobblehead figurine, and she rubbed her eyes as if she had just slept.
A male figure, with round glasses, deathly black eyes, and matching black hair, walked in, his expression neutral as if this weren’t anything special.
His pitch-black hair was draped backward, revealing the wrinkles on his forehead; however, he still looked relatively young with his pale skin, despite his real age.
Not even sparing a glance at the over twenty students, including the future emperor, who were looking at him, he silently walked to his lectern.
Professor Snape had entered the classroom.
After a couple of silent seconds, Snape finally showed some sign of life.
Raising his right hand so that his palm was facing the ceiling, Snape squinted his eyes, and, a moment later, an ocean-blue aura surrounded his hand.
It wasn’t like dirt, concrete, or something physical that you could touch...it was like a gas.
The mana surged from his wrist to his palm, completely encapsulating his palm and highlighting it a dark blue.
Then, raising his fist, Snape, in slow motion, began moving his ocean-blue fist down toward the top of the lectern.
The speed of his fist was so slow that it took a solid twenty seconds of silence for it to finally reach the top of the lectern.
*BANG*
However, right when Professor Snape’s knuckles, not even his whole hand, touched the lectern, it crumbled.
Like a Jenga tower falling over, the lectern splintered into thousands of wooden pieces and immediately reformed into a messy pile on the ground.
"..."
Even with all my awakened strength, I wouldn’t be able to break a wooden lectern...yet he had done it without even trying...at the speed of a snail?
It was unbelievable even for the prince and princess as they both raised their eyebrows.
The only person in the classroom who remained unperturbed upon Snape’s display of power was right beside me.
Sitting completely still, she blankly stared at the mess with an emotionless expression.
Raising his hand, which had now lost its light-blue hue, Snape finally looked at us students and announced.
"Mana is not a tool to be used. Don’t just think of it as a way to use your abilities and make your swords or axes stronger."
"Mana is a weapon itself. Your most powerful weapon."
Ignoring the pile of wooden scraps on the floor, Snape walked backward, leaning against the chalkboard, and asked.
"Would anyone like to explain?"
Immediately, a hand rose up from the front middle row where Charlotte and her clique sat.
"Mana can be used to augment your body in strenght, speed, stamina, and durability. Mana allows you to go past the limits set on your body."
"On the other hand, combat weapons cannot do that as their attack power is limited by your body’s inherent capability."
Nodding his head, Snape turned around and began writing on the board, drawing everyone’s attention.
[This class will ONLY prepare you for what to do once you can control and sense mana.]
[Mana control and sensing are for you and your mentor to figure out.]
Pausing and turning around to face that class, Snape continued emotionlessly.
"In two weeks, we’ll have the first deadline."
"The group of students who can sense their mana and control it at a rudimentary level will be moved into Imperial Class A, while the others will remain in B."
Within seconds, a grim atmosphere overwhelmed the class as smiles disappeared and frowns formed.
These students had thought that by entering the Imperial class, they had already won and could now relax, but there was still more competition to come.
Shaking my head, I turned to my right and suppressed a sigh. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Evangel had never been in the Imperial class for the first semester of the school, so I hadn’t known about this deadline either.
Speaking of Evangel, I was sure she had noticed that I was sitting back next to her.
Though she hadn’t even seen my face or done anything out of the ordinary, hiding from her was an impossible task.
Not even giving the students a second to breathe after the deadline reveal, Snape suddenly continued.
"Pair up and complete the following assignment. As always, the winner and only the winner will receive a special reward."
