Transmigrated as the Novel's Final Boss-Chapter 97:A Night Out [1]
Chapter 97: Chapter 97:A Night Out [1]
If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the results of 100 battles.
If that saying were true, I might as well just give up defeating Evangel and beg for her mercy.
It was funny, in an annoying way.
When I had read the book back on Earth, I had assumed that I had understood Evangel’s character and role in the novel entirely.
Yet now, there wasn’t a person who confused me more than her.
Sighing, I reluctantly nodded my head under the prying gaze of Mira and answered.
"I have no plans."
"..."
Taking Evangel’s silence as a yes, Mira turned around and led us out of the kitchen, into the hallway, and out of the empty common area.
However, as soon as the outside area materialized in front of me, a cold gust of wind rushed against my single layer of clothing, a collared shirt.
In front of me, both Mira and Evangel were fine as they had their crimson-red blazers on, though, so I didn’t say anything.
As we walked past the academy’s main street and through a path in the forest that led to the plaza, the wind only grew worse.
Every so often, it would blow up the bottom of my collared shirt, attacking my defenseless skin.
Breaking the awkward silence that descended amongst us, once again, Mira curiously asked.
"I never remembered to congratulate you two on your win today!"
Immediatly, a reply came in an emotionless voice.
"You two also won yesterday.
Trying to calm the atmosphere, Mira joked, or if she was being serious, I couldn’t tell.
"We? Who’s we? I did all the work while that guy Jett just randomly ran around."
Looking back at me, Mira desperately pleaded with her gaze for me to continue the conversation, so I shrugged my shoulders and responded.
"I could have collected the particles without her, but she physically couldn’t have done without me."
"..."
"..."
Alright, then.
Regretting my choice to ever come out in the first place, I trotted behind the two girls until we met the point where the trail converged with dozens of others.
And, there, a couple of steps in front of me, lay a new sight.
Instead of being covered with foldable chairs and a massive stage, the plaza was now half-filled with students who were either loudly talking while standing or eating.
Countless restaurants, both sit-in and take-out, were open with patios to sit on, and LED lights, powered by mana or electricity elemental particles, lit up the space.
As I stepped off the dirt of the path and onto the plaza’s stone-brick ground, dozens of various noises and smells flooded through my head.
The smell of the countless humans was not completely unbearable due to the food being served, though. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
Anyway, with the money in the pouch, I should be able to purchase a smell-blocking artifact soon enough.
Walking under a gate and officially entering the plaza, the three of us stepped to the side, to not block incoming students, and gazed around like children on Christmas.
Four large walls surrounded us, all made up of countless stores, some of which were even on a second or third floor, and crowds of humans stood all around.
There was not a single non-lively or empty place.
Looking at Mira, I curiously asked.
"What’s the place you were talking about?"
Her fingers trembling, Mira slowly pointed at the store on the opposite wall...which had a line that stretched out of the store.
There was even a sign at the line’s end that read, "Estimated Wait Time: 25 minutes."
"..."
"..."
Since we were already here, I decided to make the most of the experience by suggesting.
"Let’s just walk around."
"...sounds good."
Finally, Evangel spoke, though just for a second, as well.
"ok."
Passing by mochi stores, street-food vendors, and even clothing shops, I took all of it in with a smile.
This was going to be my home for the foreseeable future, and I couldn’t complain about its amenities in the slightest.
I basically had a shopping mall combined with a street market, a two-minute walk away from me!
Looking backward, I halted upon seeing the two girls interestedly staring at a vendor’s stand that sold chicken, beef, lamb, and steak skewers.
As I stepped to the side and watched them, Mira pulled out her student ID, a holographic blue card that displayed her name, class, and picture.
Thankfully, just before leaving my room, I had remembered mine as well.
It was like the school’s version of a debit card and an allowance, as each student, depending on their class, was given a certain amount of funds per week
Taking Mira’a ID and placing it in a silver-collared machine that resembled a card reader, the vendor quickly handed back two lamb skewers, the height of Mira’s head, and the ID.
Catching up with me, the two girls snacked on their skewers while walking around the plaza and even made casual conversation like acquaintances.
"Is it good...Evangel? Oh, I forgot we never introduced each other! I’m Mira."
Chewing on her skewer like a hamster nibbling, Evangel looked up.
"I’m Evangel."
"How was your mentor training today? Mine just asked me questions and showed me around the campus."
Hesitating for a moment, Evangel glanced upward and answered.
"I just talked to mine too..."
Shaking my head, I glanced at the restaurant we had intended to go to, seeing the line even longer than earlier, and continued forward.
Mira was the worst person Evangel could lie to.
If they continued talking about mentors, it was just a matter of time before Mira found out Evangel’s mentor was actually the principal.
Thus, stepping in, I paused and pointed to the left, where another dessert shop with only two people in line stood.
"Evangel, you said you wanted cake?"
Behind me, the exact brief and bland response I expected echoed.
"Yes."
As I walked into the line, Evangel finished the last of his skewer and followed me, leaving Mira with her half-eaten skewer behind.
There were no doors or windows in the shop, only a covering that stretched from the wall a few feet forward, so Mira was only a few yards of air away from us.
