Transmigrated as the Villain Boss's Precious Darling-Chapter 132: The Flexible Jim Thorne
"Grandpa Wood, I’d like to ask you for a favor. If there are any more posters like this in the future, could you save a few for me?" Adrian Hawthorne asked.
’It wasn’t easy to take movie stills at the cinema. It would be best to have ready-made ones; that would save a lot of trouble.’
Mr. Wood found it strange. "What do you want these posters for?"
"They’re pretty, to put on the wall." Tang Xiao’nan mimed pasting a New Year’s picture on a wall.
Mr. Wood smiled. "Alright, I’ll save them for you. You can come pick them up then."
"Thank you, Grandpa Wood."
Adrian Hawthorne placed two pounds of cookies on the table, along with two meat buns. Before Mr. Wood could react, he scooped up Tang Xiao’nan and ran off.
"Take your things back... That kid."
By the time Mr. Wood gave chase, the two had already vanished. The meat buns in his hand were still warm, fragrant oil dripping from their pleated tops. Mr. Wood swallowed hard. He couldn’t even remember the last time he’d eaten a meat bun. His monthly two-pound meat ration wasn’t even enough to give his kids some extra nutrition.
’He could only afford a piece of meat to satisfy his cravings during the New Year. Normally, they just barely scraped by on vegetables, tofu, and thin porridge. Every day, he was so hungry he’d see stars, his stomach churning with acid. He could devour these meat buns in one go.’
Mr. Wood stuffed the meat buns into his lunchbox and put away the cookies as well. ’I’ll take them back for the children to eat.’
Adrian Hawthorne ran for a while, carrying Tang Xiao’nan. Seeing that Mr. Wood wasn’t chasing them, he finally put her down. Adrian shook out his hands. ’This chubby girl is surprisingly heavy.’
"Jim’s back!"
Tang Xiao’nan pointed ahead. Jim Thorne was riding over on his bicycle, a huge smile on his face. It looked like his sales had gone very well.
"How long have you guys been back? How’d the sales go?"
Jim Thorne looked smug; he had sold every single one. Tang Xiao’nan said happily, "We sold them all! Did you sell out, Jim?"
"Of course I sold out! You guys really sold out?" 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
The smug look on Jim Thorne’s face froze. He had been planning to boast a little, but he was a bit skeptical. ’Adrian Hawthorne had twice as many photos as I did. How could he have sold them faster than me?’
"We sold every last one, and there were still plenty of people who couldn’t buy any. We’ll need to print more when we get back and come again tomorrow. Where did you go to sell yours?"
Adrian Hawthorne took some meat buns from his bag and handed them over. Jim Thorne was starving, so he took a huge bite. CHOMP. He polished off the bun in just a few mouthfuls, then ate another one. After drinking some water, he finally said, "I went to the bus station. Not many people were buying around here. Since you guys went to the train station, I decided to try my luck at the bus station. It turned out a lot of people there wanted to buy them."
"You’re amazing, Jim!"
Tang Xiao’nan gave him a thumbs-up. ’I’m really surprised. I never thought Jim could be so adaptable, thinking to go sell at the busy bus station. He’s got a real talent for business!’
Jim Thorne was puffed up with pride again, beaming and grinning from ear to ear. He felt pretty incredible himself. ’I earned three yuan in just half a day, and it takes Dad most of the day to butcher a pig for only two yuan!’
Adrian Hawthorne was also surprised. ’This big dummy actually knew to change locations. The kid is teachable.’
"How much money did you make? Let’s count it, quickly."
Jim Thorne opened his schoolbag. It was full of small change, mostly one-jiao and two-jiao bills. He had already counted it several times, but he came up with a different total each time. For someone whose math test scores had never broken double digits, counting this much money was indeed a bit difficult.
"Let’s find another spot."
Adrian Hawthorne took Tang Xiao’nan by the hand, and the three of them found a secluded alley. They emptied all the money from the bag. The sight of all the colorful bills made their hearts soar. Jim Thorne’s eyes went wide and his jaw dropped. ’I’ve never seen so much money in my entire life!’
