Chapter 281: Chapter 280: Meeting two of Treyton’s past lovers 2

Vivi ignored her brother and Ron’s objections and said, "The three of us also have abilities. So, for old times’ sake, could we join your team?"

Treyton’s expression remained calm as he responded, "Our team already has enough members, and we’re not recruiting at the moment.

If you really do have abilities, I’m sure you’ll be accepted into another team easily. And if you’re not planning to go out on missions, I can recommend other jobs within the base."

"So you are planning to recruit again in the future?" Vivi asked, eyes narrowing slightly.

"Probably."

"Then, can we apply again when the time comes?"

"If you’re strong enough to meet the team’s standards—and as long as you don’t cause trouble—there won’t be a problem," Treyton said simply.

"Alright then, we’ll apply again in the future. We’ll get going now—we won’t disturb you any further. Thank you," Vivi replied politely, then turned to pull both Lex and Ron away with her.

After they left, Luciel and Treyton continued walking. As they did, Luciel remarked, "That woman’s definitely stronger than your two exes. She clearly knows what’s best for them."

It was obvious from their brief exchange that Vivi held the decision-making power among the three.

All of them likely already knew Treyton’s background, and if they’d asked around even a little, they’d know his team was filled with strong members.

Joining such a capable team would clearly be a better opportunity than just joining any random group in the North Base—and Vivi clearly realized that.

Even when Treyton suggested they apply to other teams or take on work within the base, she didn’t bite.

Instead, she focused on the long-term benefits, immediately asking if they would be recruiting again in the future.

It was also clear that she wasn’t interested in just settling down within the base—when the offer came, she didn’t even consider it.

Compared to Vivi’s composed approach, the performance of Treyton’s two exes wasn’t even worth mentioning.

Vivi’s twin brother, Lex, was clearly more timid—he couldn’t even hold their gaze for long.

Meanwhile, Ron, who was likely Treyton’s last boyfriend before him, seemed more focused on his lingering anger. It was obvious he was upset that Treyton didn’t even remember him.

In fact, Luciel caught Ron glaring at him before they left, making it clear the man probably resented him as well.

The two likely hadn’t given much thought to the benefits of joining Treyton’s team—or maybe they had, but their pride and the embarrassment of the situation kept them from accepting it.

So, even though they tried to stop Vivi earlier, they still couldn’t stop her, who obviously had a long-term goal of survival.

"Yeah, she had always been strong and also ambitious. She wouldn’t settle for less as long as she knew that there’s a way for her to gain more.

When I was with his brother, she was even there and made decisions for her brother about the benefits that they would get."

"Oh, so you remember them now?" Luciel asked teasingly.

"Yeah, they already told me their names, so of course I also remembered who they were," Treyton admitted.

"Then, why did you break up with those two?" Luciel asked curiously.

Luciel was really curious about the reasons why Treyton broke up with those two ex-lovers because he already knew that Treyton had broken up with his previous lovers for different reasons.

"I broke up with Lex after a month," Treyton said calmly. "He followed his sister in everything. After being with me for just a month, they’d already gotten enough benefits to do what they wanted. Vivi apparently asked him to break up with me after that."

He paused briefly before continuing. "At the time, the two of them were trying to start a business, but they didn’t have enough funds.

When I offered a relationship contract, Lex didn’t object—he wanted to help his sister.

And she probably agreed because she knew I was generous and wouldn’t force anyone to stay.

Even though his sister always knew how to maximize benefits and would try to get more whenever she saw an opportunity, she still genuinely cared about her twin brother, who always listened to her.

She knew it wouldn’t be good for Lex to stay with me for too long—because with his personality, he might grow too comfortable and end up falling for me if he stayed.

She already knew that if her brother truly fell in love, it would only lead to a painful future for him—something that would’ve been obvious if they looked into some of my past relationships—because I was always the one to end things when it came to that."

Treyton’s tone didn’t change as he added, "So, once they got the money they needed from his monthly allowance, his sister decisively asked his brother to break up with me. Lex wanted to leave, so of course I agreed, and I let him go."

Luciel let out a short laugh. "Ha. Wow, you’re really generous. You just let them take the money and leave?"

"Of course, why would I force him to stay with me if he wasn’t willing? The money he got is what he deserved, as it was already written in our agreement, so there’s no problem at all."

"Oh, so if I wanted to leave too, there wouldn’t be a problem, right?" Luciel said teasingly with a playful glint in his eyes.

Treyton’s expression immediately darkened. "What did you just say?"

"I said," Luciel repeated with a smirk, completely unfazed by Treyton’s reaction, "if I wanted to leave later, there’d be no problem... right?"

Luciel kept his tone light and teasing, even as Treyton’s eyes narrowed in response.

"It seems that you have been provoking me recently. It seemed that I haven’t satisfied you recently, we should have a long in depth communication for a long time so that you won’t have such thoughts," Treyton said and kissed him aggressively without caring that they were still on the road.
