Transmigrated to Another World and Doted on by Everyone!-Chapter 206: Relief
Watching Ding Yixin take off his glasses and rub the bridge of his nose with visible fatigue, Rong Xingyu couldn’t help but feel as if his heart were being tightly clenched.
"Have you been very busy lately?" Rong Xingyu hesitated for a moment, but still asked with concern.
Ding Yixin held Rong Xingyu’s hand, carrying the lunchbox in his other hand, and walked him out.
Hearing the question, Ding Yixin let out a low laugh.
He gently pinched Rong Xingyu’s fingertips and said, "It’s alright. Being able to eat the loving meal that Yuyu carefully prepared makes even the busiest workdays feel worth it."
Rong Xingyu’s face flushed slightly, and he responded with a vague "Mm."
How did Dr. Ding know that he prepared it carefully every day?
Could it be that he had also noticed that he had those kinds of feelings for him?
"D-don’t walk me out anymore. I should go now," Rong Xingyu said goodbye to Ding Yixin with a red face. "Goodbye, Dr. Ding."
After saying that, Rong Xingyu turned around and hurried away, his steps a little flustered.
Ding Yixin stood where he was and watched Rong Xingyu’s retreating figure.
Only after the youth had completely disappeared from his sight did Ding Yixin turn around.
The gentle smile in his eyes hadn’t had time to fade.
The security guard at the hospital entrance had only been on the job for a few days, but he had already remembered Rong Xingyu, who came every day to deliver meals, as well as Ding Yixin, who always personally walked him out each time.
Even though the guard couldn’t hear what the two of them said, just looking at Ding Yixin’s doting smile, Rong Xingyu’s slightly reddened cheeks, and the way the two of them standing together looked straight out of an idol drama.
Every time, the guard felt like a huge bowl of dog food had been dumped straight over his head.
"Dr. Ding, your boyfriend came to bring food again," the guard greeted him familiarly when he saw Ding Yixin walk over.
Ding Yixin looked to be in quite a good mood.
Hearing the guard’s words, his eyes flickered slightly, but he spoke up to deny it. "Not exactly a boyfriend."
"Huh?"
The guard scratched the back of his head in confusion. With how close those two were, they weren’t boyfriends?
"He’s my fiancé."
As Ding Yixin said this, he habitually rubbed the middle finger of his left hand with his right as if he were turning a ring.
But Ding Yixin’s left middle finger was bare and the guard didn’t see any ring at all.
The guard couldn’t help but freeze for a moment. By the time he came back to his senses, Ding Yixin had already walked far away.
Very soon, the day of the surgery arrived.
Rong Xingyu rarely felt this nervous.
He felt as though his heart were hanging in his throat, ready to jump out at any moment.
Even though Ding Yixin had comforted Rong Xingyu before the surgery and even given him a hug.
"There won’t be any problems. Trust me," Ding Yixin had said softly by Rong Xingyu’s ear.
Rong Xingyu’s tense emotions had been soothed and he leaned into Ding Yixin’s arms and nodded.
But as the waiting time outside the operating room grew longer, and as he kept seeing the "In Surgery" sign lit up, Rong Xingyu’s nerves inevitably grew tighter and tighter.
He felt as though he couldn’t even stay seated anymore.
Rong Xingyu stood up, his hands already clenched into fists, pacing back and forth in the corridor outside the operating room.
His gaze never left the "In Surgery" indicator light.
Until the red light turned green, Rong Xingyu’s steps abruptly halted.
The operating room doors were pushed open from the inside.
Rong Xingyu’s heart instantly leapt into his throat and he hurriedly walked over.
He saw medical staff pushing a hospital bed out, and on the bed, Mother Rong lay peacefully with her eyes closed.
"The surgery was very successful." Seeing Rong Xingyu’s worried expression, the nurse smiled and said to him, "The anesthesia is still in effect. The patient will need a while before waking up."
Finally hearing the news that the surgery had been successful, the heart that Rong Xingyu had been holding high at last settled back into place.
The nerves that had been tightly stretched the whole time also relaxed.
Rong Xingyu’s body swayed slightly. He hurriedly reached out to support himself against the wall beside him, only then realizing that his legs had already gone weak.
"Thank you... thank you for your hard work," Rong Xingyu said as he thanked them, his voice trembling.
The medical staff shook their heads lightly, then pushed Mother Rong away to rest.
Rong Xingyu looked toward the last man to come out of the operating room.
Ding Yixin had already taken off his sterile surgical gown and was lifting a hand to remove his mask as well.
His handsome features could not conceal the exhaustion he was feeling at that moment.
A major surgery that lasted six hours required the surgeon’s mind to remain highly focused at all times, without the slightest lapse.
Yet when Ding Yixin saw Rong Xingyu, his brows and eyes immediately softened.
"Yuyu."
Hearing Ding Yixin’s hoarse voice, Rong Xingyu’s eyes instantly reddened.
In the split second before tears fell, Rong Xingyu couldn’t help but take several steps forward and throw himself straight into Ding Yixin’s arms, he reaching out his hands to hug him tightly.
Ding Yixin let out a low laugh and raised a hand to gently pat Rong Xingyu’s back, slowly and steadily.
"Dr. Ding," Rong Xingyu’s voice carried a heavy nasal tone.
He only managed to choke out a single call of "Dr. Ding," yet all the other words seemed to be stuck in his throat, unable to come out.
Rong Xingyu could only tighten his arms, hugging Ding Yixin even more firmly.
Ding Yixin, meanwhile, seemed to understand the meaning of the words Rong Xingyu couldn’t say.
