Transmigrated to Another World and Doted on by Everyone!-Chapter 260: Extra: Ancient Times (Part 13)
The one who should have married into the General’s residence and been protected in his embrace was supposed to be her all along!
As for that useless Mu Lin...
Mu Yao let out a cold snort in her heart.
In any case, he was only pretending to be her.
When the time came, she could simply go to her father, act spoiled for a bit, and have herself and Mu Lin switch back, couldn’t she?
A fleeting twist of distortion flashed across Mu Yao’s expression.
She had even begun to imagine the glorious life she would live after going to the General’s residence.
Mu Yao suppressed the wild joy surging in her heart.
In a deliberately delicate and affected tone, she called out to Ding Yixin, "General Ding."
But Ding Yixin acted as if his ears had stopped working as though he could not hear her voice at all.
Mu Yao called out "General Ding" again.
Just as the expression on Mu Yao’s face was about to crumble, Rong Xingyu who had watched the show long enough finally coughed softly and secretly poked Ding Yixin at the waist.
Rong Xingyu blinked at Ding Yixin.
Ding Yixin: "..."
Even with Rong Xingyu continuously signaling him with his eyes, Ding Yixin still ignored the eager Mu Yao standing to the side.
However, he cooperatively asked Rong Xingyu, "Yaoyao, who is this?"
The real Mu Yao felt a surge of delight. "I—"
But she had only managed to say a single word before Rong Xingyu cut her off.
"Oh, her? She’s a distant cousin of mine."
Mu Yao: "???" 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Putting on his best dramatic act, Rong Xingyu deliberately feigned surprise and said, "Cousin, why are you making that expression? Did I say something wrong?"
"You!"
Being inexplicably saddled with the identity of a distant cousin was something Mu Yao who had grown up held high as the Prime Minister’s eldest daughter could hardly accept.
But with Ding Yixin still standing there watching them, Mu Yao forcibly swallowed the resentment in her heart.
What she did not realize, however, was how unnatural the expression on her face looked at that moment.
Finding it amusing, Rong Xingyu continued in a sweet yet subtly barbed tone, "Even though Father has only me as his daughter, in her heart, Cousin has long since been Father’s child as well. Right, cousin?"
Mu Yao: "Mm."
Even if Mu Yao bit her teeth to pieces, she could only swallow the grievance back down.
She suppressed her anger and forced a stiff smile.
After returning to her room, Mu Yao let out a scream and then swept everything on the table onto the floor.
The porcelain immediately crashed to the ground and making a loud noise.
The servants all tensed up and they are doing their best to minimize their presence.
This was not the first time Mu Yao had vented like this and smashing things to relieve her temper.
None of them dared to provoke the young lady while she was in a rage.
Otherwise, their fate would likely be no better than the porcelain that was shattered into pieces by Mu Yao or perhaps even worse.
After Mu Yao had smashed nearly all the porcelain in the room, she looked at the floor covered in fragments and only then did her mood seem to improve slightly.
"Mu Lin..." Mu Yao ground her teeth in hatred. "Just you wait."
"Achoo—!" Rong Xingyu suddenly sneezed again.
Sneezing in public and in such slightly "unrestrained" behavior did not quite match Rong Xingyu’s carefully styled appearance today.
Rong Xingyu coughed lightly, then leaned close to Ding Yixin’s ear and whispered, "I don’t even need to guess, I know Mu Yao is cursing me."
Ding Yixin smiled knowingly.
As early as when Rong Xingyu stepped onto the small path near the rockery, he had already noticed a flash of pink fabric quickly disappearing behind the rocks.
He knew Mu Yao must be hiding behind the rockery and watching them closely.
So, an idea formed in Rong Xingyu’s mind.
He stopped walking and when Ding Yixin also stopped and looked toward her, Rong Xingyu gently swayed his hand as if she had something to say.
So Ding Yixin slightly bent down.
Rong Xingyu stood on tiptoe while leaned toward Ding Yixin’s ear, and said, "Do you want to kiss me over there by the rockery?"
He even lifted his hand to point toward the nearby rockery.
His tone felt like a soft scratch against Ding Yixin’s heart; as he looked at him, the depth in his eyes darkened.
But Rong Xingyu thought Ding Yixin was still considering.
He cleared his throat and thinking to homself that he was really going all out this time.
"Then I won’t change clothes tonight, just like you said, alright?"
Ding Yixin raised an eyebrow while looking at Rong Xingyu whose cheeks had turned slightly red clearly from imagining something.
Then he wrapped an arm around Rong Xingyu’s waist.
In an instant, the two of them switched positions.
Ding Yixin pressed Rong Xingyu against the rockery beside them.
Afraid the uneven stones might hurt her, he gently supported the back of her head with his palm.
Ding Yixin’s powers of observation were sharp; he had long since noticed what Rong Xingyu had seen.
And the little schemes in Rong Xingyu’s mind, he had mostly guessed as well.
He removed his mask and kissed Rong Xingyu.
At last, when Rong Xingyu heard a fairly loud noise from behind the rockery, the corners of her lips curved upward slightly.
The fish had taken the bait.
Rong Xingyu had no interest in how Mu Yao went back and vented her pent-up anger afterward.
No matter how arrogant and domineering her temper might be, Mu Yao was still just a pampered young lady who is raised within the inner chambers and incapable of stirring up any real waves.
It would be enough to give Mu Hong a warning.
As for what Ding Yixin and Mu Hong had discussed, Rong Xingyu had no idea.
But when the two of them walked out together, Ding Yixin’s expression was as calm as ever.
