Transmigrating from a zombie world to become the mecha kings wife-Chapter 662: Rooting them out.
Chapter 662: Rooting them out.
Immediately after leaving the dead world, Scarlet and the hounds set off for the underworld in search of a single deity. Over time, Lythia had cemented her position as Scarlet’s go to deity every time she needed answers, a favor or help.
The hounds went off to take care of their own business, leaving her alone with absolute privacy in Lythia’s palace which she used to walk around. The place was now deserted, no reapers and no monkeys. The life which once filled it was absent. It was such a sad sight to see.
"Are the spirit monkeys preparing for war as well?" she asked herself. What could these cheeky cute animals possibly do in a war between deities?
She didn’t know what role they would play but she was sure that they had one. If even the trees and rivers did, then the spirit animals were no exception. For some reason, she felt guilty and sorry towards them, as if the war was her fault.
Lythia appeared before Scarlet out of nowhere, kind of startling her.
"You really should stop screaming my name when you show up. If I were human, the shock would probably kill me." the deity said.
Scarlet that had been startled gave the deity an unhappy glare. Who had shocked the other between the two of them?
"We are burning daylight here Scarlet, start talking." Lythia snapped her fingers and told her.
With the way she was acting and talking, Scarlet had a strong feeling that she had taken Lythia away from a very important task. She would ask normally, because she enjoyed knowing everything but in this case, she didn’t ask. She resolutely remained firm in her decision to stay away from the deities and their war.
"We have a problem." she said gravelly. "Did you know that life angels could live inside humans?"
Lythia nodded.
Her reaction was not exactly what Scarlet imagined or maybe it was. Given that Lythia was an immortal deity, she had to know about this obviously.
"That’s not what matters. Those rats...no, I should be respectful because they are just doing what their deities order them to.
One of those life angels is living living inside the body of one of my husband’s closest friends. I cannot even begin guessing for how long he has been there but I assume since the very beginning.
I don’t know how many of them are hiding around me but I need to root them out. If I had not suspected that one, I have no idea what would have happened in future.
Do you realize that how dangerous this is? They could pretend to be someone in my family and kidnap my children. I will not sit back and allow that life deity to have his way."
She held her hand out and shook it expectantly. "Give me something that will help me identify them all. I need to test everyone around me and endure that they are who they say they are."
"You have grown quite demanding, haven’t you?" Lythia responded.
Scarlet shook her head. "You mean desperate. I have grown quite desperate. You have no idea how freaked out I am. It’s like finding out that aliens are real and they have been slowly replacing your loved ones. Do you have any idea how scary that is?"
The thought that any of the Su’s was hosting a life angel was not just scary but downright frightening. How could she live in the same castle with that person? How could could she ever trust them to carry her babies without worrying about them.
Maybe Lanta was right, perhaps what she needed to do was abandon everything and just run. There was a time for bravery and a time to be wise. This seemed like a good time to be wise.
Lythia held her shoulders and told her, "Don’t panic. Just install some flower bells around your home. Buy them yourself from any of the reapers that sell artifacts. When a life angel is near, they will go off like sirens.
You can also plant angel weed everywhere in your home, it’s a good way of arresting their power. A life angel can only inhabit a body of a willing and dying human. Their presence keeps the human alive so if anyone in your family is hosting one, I am afraid that you will not be able to do anything about it unless you are ready to reap their soul.
But, the angel weed will keep their powers contained. It will basically render them useless."
Scarlet blinked a few times and she frowned. Hopefully, she would not have to reap any of her brothers or sisters.
"Alright, thank you." she answered.
Lythia suddenly laughed as if she had thought of something incredibly amusing.
"What is so funny?" Scarlet asked her.
She leaned her head back and replied, "I am surprised that it took you so long to figure out that there is a life angel around your husband." She rolled her eyes and smacked her forehead. "Aah, silly me. Why would you consider this when you thought he was completely human? You also didn’t know that he and Apo are not at ease."
Scarlet however did not discount Lythia’s words completely. It was true that there were a few things she should have considered. "I should have figured it out the moment I discovered the impurity of Esong’s humanness. I mean, there is no way the deity of life is just sitting patiently and waiting. He has always been preparing for the day when he can get his hands on Nyx I guess. But, why is he having him watched instead of erasing him or something?"
"Nyx made a deal with fate that protects his soul. If Apo touches his soul, fate will retaliate against life." Lythia told her. She looked at Scarlet’s stomach and further added, "The deal is what led to the immortal prophet."
Scarlet couldn’t help the sneer which formed on her face, followed by a derisive snort. If she heard one more person talk about that immortal prophet crap and how her child should be raised in the realm of fate, she would burn their face off.
"It is never going to happen. I have heard all the rumors and let me tell you, fate will not be getting her hands on my child. Her deal was with Nyx so let her work it out with him. You can all form your little groups and prepare for your war but I am making it clear, my children are off limits to every deity or we are all going to have a very long and painful uncomfortable eternity together. That said, thank you for help shadow goddess. I do appreciate it."
Respectfully, Scarlet lowered her head slightly and then teleported back home. It was time to put a face and name to every life angel in the empire, especially those on the Blue star.
