Transmigrating from a zombie world to become the mecha kings wife-Chapter 694: Home, in the house.
Chapter 694: Home, in the house.
None of the mecha warriors actually showed up to inform Scarlet about Esong’s return and public sighting. It was Tion that rushed into the dining room where she and Adler were sharing a meal and he told her about the good news.
Just like Adler, he expected her to lose her mind from all the excitement but rather she remained as cool as a cucumber. In her hands was one of the babies, awake and well behaved as she didn’t bother her mother.
"Thank you duke T, I guess I should put a plate out for him or something." she said slowly.
Tion looked at Adler. His eyes seemed to be saying, help me out here because I am confused. What am I missing?
Adler had no answers and he shrugged. He was happy to hear that she was at least planning to feed her husband.
He looked at his bracelet terminal and and smiled. "He is here, the general is in the palace right now. He is down in the lobby."
Tion rushed back out so happily. There was a bounce in his step as he moved. It almost seemed like he was the wife who was rushing out to welcome her husband.
Scarlet moved as well, shifting her body in the chair. "Blaze," she called out.
A man with very thick yellow hair that Adler was seeing for the second time that day came over quickly into the dining room. He took the baby and Scarlet’s hands were freed up.
"Adler, if you are done eating, now is the time for you to leave. My husband and I will be needing our privacy."
"I need to drink some water first." Adler claimed.
It was a lie and they both knew this. He was sticking around to observe how she and Esong would interact. If it was frosty, he would relay the news to their mother and they would sit down as the Su family and try to figure out how to help her.
If divorce was really what she wanted, they would back her up because Su’s always stood by Su’s, no matter what.
"Alex, bring up footage from the elevator leading up." Scarlet ordered.
On the screen, the footage appeared and Scarlet started a countdown in her mind. One, two, three, four...
As she counted, so did her brother, only he was more vocal about it. When they got to thirty, the door leading to the living room opened and when they got to sixty five, the door to the dining room slid open and he finally appeared. He stood there, next to the door and stared at Scarlet.
He was in his mecha warrior uniform, a newer one that had been tailored to fit his new size. The long hair which he had when she saw him last had been cut already. In a way, he looked like the same old Esong but also different. His heroic looks and aura were the same, maybe just a bit more intense.
"What is this?" Adler whispered in a low but deep voice that was full of surprise. "When did he grow bigger and taller?"
Adler blinked a few times, quite uncertain if this was the same man his sister had married. This Esong was now as tall as Beord and almost as big as him.
"Brother-in-law, could you please excuse us. I need to talk to my wife?" These were the first words out of his mouth.
"You want to talk." Scarlet was surprised to hear those words coming from his mouth. It actually miffed her because she had been begging to talk for weeks and now he had just casually decided that he was ready to talk so she had to drop everything and listen.
It would be such a shame not to make him sweat a little bit. Besides, Adler would need something to report back to the others. He had been away for a long time so she had to speak to him like she was seeing him for the first time after a long time.
"So the prodigal husband returns after all this time and here I thought you were dead." she said sarcastically.
"Watch your tongue Scarlet, I am still your husband." he responded strongly.
Scarlet laughed and crossed her arms, "So you are aware that you are a husband, how should I react now that you have chosen to embrace the title you so easily wanted to discard a few months ago. Should I clap my hands and then take my clothes off and beg you to ravish me?" she rolled her eyes at him and scoffed.
Esong scowled because he was certain that he had not attempted to discard his title as a husband. All he had done was go into the space crack against her wishes.
Adler on the other hand was suddenly thrown in a loophole of confusion. Esong had been to discard his title as a husband a few months ago!! Is that why Scarlet had not been excited when she heard of his return?
Was there actual substance to the rumors about the divorce?
His mind raced quickly to catch up and patch the missing pieces of the story he had made in his mind about Esong maybe meeting another woman.
He even gasped and glared at Esong. He was all but ready to call Esong a bastard and beat him up to defend his sister’s honor.
Scarlet meanwhile watched her husband slowly walk toward her with a focused furious look in his eyes and she wondered if she had pushed him too far.
"You dared to send me divorce papers, Scarlet, have you lost your damn mind?" he asked as soon as he reached and stood firmly in front of her.
That part confused her a bit because she didn’t send him any divorce papers. Either he was playing along with her or he was genuinely angry because he had seen and heard the rumors floating around.
No, she thought, on the contrary, you have lost yours. If he thought that she would divorce him so easily then he didn’t know her well enough.
Esong suddenly gripped her wrist tightly and latched on like he wanted to glue himself to her. "We need to talk." he said seriously.
He looked genuinely angry. He had bought into the stupid rumors, she realized. His anger made her angry in turn. How could he dare to jump to his own conclusions after all they had been through? He and his inner grim reaper were solely responsible for any misunderstandings that she had.
You want to talk, let’s talk, she thought. She would make sure that they talked until they exhausted every little doubt in her mind and all of her questions were answered.
"Adler, get out." she told her brother in a serious voice without turning her head to look at him.
"Scarlet..." Adler started to say in a soft voice. His mouth stopped moving when two pairs of eyes that were scary glared at him. One was green and the other black with a spotting of red in the middle. His sister’s eyes did not scare him as much as Esong’s did.
"Leave." Both Scarlet and Esong ordered him.
Adler felt a shiver travel up his spine and he could have swear that his soul was leaving his body. Something in his mind warned him to run immediately. "I am leaving."
He didn’t even bother with a goodbye and simply hurried out.
