"Then send someone to buy meat." She replied obliviously.

She didn’t understand why meat was a big deal. It could be bought. The guests could additionally eat something else. They had plenty of rice, beans, peas and other things available.

Her mother laughed out loud dryly just once, "Ha! it’s one day before the royal wedding and the emperor is feeding not just almost the entire empire but over five hundred thousand invited guests from all over the world. I have already checked and every shop, market, stall or restaurant in the empire has run out of all things meaty."

"They are just hoarding them to sell at a high price tomorrow." Fey joined them with an opinion as always. "It’s just business. If we want to feed our guests anything meaty as mother has said, we will have to instruct people to kill some animals or go fishing right now."

"Have you checked the black street?" Carolyn slid over and asked.

Since they were not whispering, anyone could listen to the conversation if they were within a small distance.

Mega Su quickly put a hand over Carolyn’s mouth. "You crazy girl, have you forgotten that you will be full royalty tomorrow? What will happen if people hear you talking about things like shopping in the black market? And what will theu thonk about our family? Do you know the kind of people that purchase things from there?"

She tried to whisper but since she was berating her daughter fiercely, the whispers were louder than she intended.

Scarlet rolled her eyes and touched her mother’s back, running her hands in a circular motion as she often did for the babies when they were fussy. "It’s just buying meat from the black market mother, it’s not as if she has suggested that we rebel. You really need to relax because one of these days you will pop a vein. Besides, the emperor is one of the reasons why we have run out of meat, he has been hosting meetings with nobles and ministers here on the equestrian castle grounds for the whole week and we had to provide food for them.."

Mega’s hand moved from Carolyn’s mouth to Scarlet’s. Scarlet would not be silenced and she jumped away.

"Mother, this is why i said we should charge him but you insisted on..."

Extremely loud music started playing and it forced Scarlet to stop talking. The music was coming from her mother’s bracelet terminal and she had an amplifier in her right hand. Apparently nobody was wiser than their mother, if she couldn’t get Scarlet to stop talking she could just produce a noise which was louder than Scarlet’s voice.

"Ho!" Scarlet laughed. She held her hands up in surrender. "Mother, i give up, you win."

Mega turned off the horrible music. She smugly said to Scarlet, "You learn a lot of tricks when you have so many overly opinionated children that just have to do things their way no matter how much you tell them to do the opposite."

The three sisters twisted their lips and looked in various directions. They were guilty as charged in that aspect.

Fey told Scarlet, "You should be making notes sister, i have a feeling that you will need this knowledge in some years to come."

They had all noticed that the youngest niece was quite fiery tempered while the oldest was incredibly stubborn. The others were not very calm either. Justin was the calmest child Scarlet had so far.

"My babies are perfect little angels." Scarlet claimed. "Anyway, i still think that we should feed them something other than meat. There will be plenty of meat at the wedding banquet tomorrow."

"I agree, besides, I am too nervous to eat anyway." Carolyn said.

Some noise coming from the walls of the castle caught their attention. The four women looked up momentarily just to see what was causing a fuss. They noticed castle guards pointing up and the shield which was protecting the castle was lowered.

Something swooped down with speed and landed on the ground. It scared the horses and they went wild, most that were loose went running in different directions and guards went after them.

There were children on the castle grounds, they had to prevent any unfortunate accidents.

"Black and silver armor, is that your husband?" Carolyn asked Scarlet.

"I do believe it is." Scarlet answered.

"Thank the deities that he is back. Markay was freaking out that his best friend and brother will miss the wedding. I almost expected him to cancel it and decided to wait for Esong to return. So, is his return and arrival here a good or bad thing?" She asked outright, curiously.

"Why would it be bad?" Mega asked Carolyn before Scarlet could answer.

As far as she was concerned, Esong and Scarlet being on the same planet at such an important time was a good thing. It was getting harder and harder to keep fooling the media about the possible divorce between the two. Besides, it was not good for a couple to go for so long without speaking.

"They have been texting regularly you know and she has been smiling a lot. It’s a good thing i am sure." Fey said.

"Really?" Mega looked at Scarlet curiously.

"So they reconciled." Carolyn said. "Wow, Fey, you are really good at keeping secrets. Is it because she is your boss?"

"Because it was not anybody’s business. Besides, telling you that i suspected they might be on good terms again would only cause premature excitement." Fey replied.

The three women stood together in union as they watched Esong hug and greet some of his cousins and friends that were at the castle. Even though he was doing so, his eyes were strictly on Scarlet.

Anybody that had eyes could see where he was looking what he wanted and where he needed to be.

Carolyn for one noticed the small curve of Scarlet’s lips upwards and she smirked.

"Well, i guess this means that we are having meat or something meaty."

Her younger sister was very faithful when it came to feeding her husband and the husband was faithful in eating. His best dishes were all meat related dishes. After such a long time away, there was no way she was going to feed him plain vegetables.

Scarlet chuckled lightly because Carolyn read her correctly. "I think i have enough ingredients for gumbo. We can prepare a feast for at least three hundred people with what i have."

"Does it have something meaty?" Carolyn asked her.

"Sausages, crab and shrimp." Scarlet answered. "Does that count as meaty?"

"I think something more meaty is walking towards you. You may have to include yourself on the menu tonight." Carolyn snickered.

She was obviously talking about Esong who was bounding towards them with determined steps and a similarly determined look in his eyes.

Scarlet couldn’t tell if her sister was making a dirty joke or referring to Esong’s growth spurt. Either way, she reacted by lightly smacking her sister on the stomach.

"Scatter, let’s scatter and give them privacy." Mega hissed at her other daughters. "The babies too, we are taking them."
