Transmigration:The Villain Wants A Happy End Without His BeastHusbands-Chapter 109: Old Beast Gu
Rain poured heavily over Earth City.
The city was filled with towering trees, ancient stone buildings, and gardens overflowing with flowers. Strong winds pushed through the branches, shaking leaves and bending plants as sheets of rain struck the stone streets and rooftops.
Lanterns hanging from wooden posts swayed violently in the wind, their lights flickering.
Beastfolk moved through the streets in elegant bamboo hats, many carrying finely crafted umbrellas. Carriages drawn by spirit horses rolled steadily through the rain.
One carriage stood out from the rest. It was far more vibrant than the others. A royal carriage bearing the white tiger clan sigil.
Three additional carriages followed behind it as they moved through the storm until they finally entered the compound of the tallest structure in Earth City.
The structure was a massive pagoda that seemed to stretch endlessly into the sky. The upper floors disappeared into thick clouds and drifting mist.
The carriages came to a stop.
Guards immediately stepped down and opened the middle carriage.
Rong Yue stepped out.
He was dressed immaculately in silver robes, his expression calm and cold. Every bit the image of a divine beast prince. He didn’t even acknowledge the rain soaking the courtyard.
From the first carriage, Rong Chao stepped out with a slight frown on his face.
Meanwhile, the third carriage was opened by several guards who carefully lifted out a large chest filled with treasures. Gifts prepared for their visit.
As they approached the entrance of the pagoda, the guards stationed there immediately stepped forward and bowed deeply.
"It is an honor to welcome you," one of them said respectfully. "Old Beast Gu is ready to receive you."
Rong Yue smiled faintly.
Together they entered the towering structure.
The moment they stepped inside, the air felt different.
It was thick with beast qi.
Several beastfolk dressed in uniform robes moved through the interior halls. Some approached the tiger guards and respectfully took the treasure chest before carrying it deeper into the pagoda.
The tiger guards remained behind while Rong Yue and Rong Chao continued forward, escorted by the pagoda’s guards.
Rong Yue’s lips curled slightly as he observed their surroundings.
They passed endless rows of towering shelves filled with artifacts. Some ancient, some newly crafted.
Every artifact radiated traces of beast qi, filling the entire structure with a powerful pressure that felt almost alive.
Rong Yue found the sight magnificent.
Rong Chao, however, still looked displeased.
Though as they walked further inside, his expression slowly changed.
The shelves seemed endless, spiraling upward through balconies and open corridors. As they climbed the staircases from floor to floor, the vast collection became more and more impressive.
Eventually Rong Chao couldn’t hide his curiosity any longer.
"Senior Brother," he asked, glancing around with growing fascination, "is it true that the pills capable of pushing a beast toward the realm of the Beast God can be found here?"
Rong Yue smirked slightly. "I thought you weren’t speaking to me."
Rong Chao immediately returned to his earlier scowl. "I’m just asking a question."
"But you haven’t bothered to ask me anything for months," Rong Yue replied calmly. "Ever since you started avoiding me."
Rong Chao huffed. "I have every right to be angry with you."
Rong Yue sighed as they reached the third floor and stepped into a long corridor lined with more towering shelves.
"Let’s talk about it later."
Rong Chao scoffed. "Of course."
Rong Yue glanced at him before speaking again.
"There was never going to be a future between you and Lan Meishan," he said quietly. "Not after everything his clan has been doing lately. Not after—"
"He’s not like them," Rong Chao interrupted through clenched teeth.
Rong Yue sighed again. "Like I said... we’ll discuss this later."
By then they had reached a massive set of doors at the end of the corridor.
The doors were carved with intricate images of countless beasts. Dragons, serpents, phoenixes, tigers, and creatures long forgotten by time.
The guards stopped before them.
One of them stepped forward and pushed the doors open.
The chamber beyond was vast.
Shelves filled with ancient artifacts surrounded the room, but at the center sat a single chair near a small crackling fire.
The chair faced away from them.
The creature sitting there had long ears that twitched slightly at their arrival.
"Old Beast Gu," one of the guards announced respectfully with a deep bow, "Great Divine Beast Prince Rong Yue has arrived." 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
"Very well," the elderly beast replied.
Her voice was calm and surprisingly pleasant.
Rong Yue placed a hand on Rong Chao’s shoulder.
Rong Chao immediately turned, glaring at him with silver feline eyes.
Then he stormed out of the room with the guards.
The doors closed behind them, leaving only Rong Yue and Old Beast Gu.
Rong Yue slowly approached the chair.
When he finally stood before it, he could clearly see the elderly beast.
She had nine tails, her fur a soft and elegant white.
Her fox-like eyes were a striking shade of blue.
In her hands she held a sword and a cloth.
The blade looked old, battered by time and countless battles.
Yet she was carefully polishing the steel.
She glanced up at Rong Yue with quiet curiosity.
"It is unusual to see you here, Rong Yue," Old Beast Gu said calmly. "The only divine beast prince who usually visits this place is Lan Meishan. Though it has been quite some time since his last visit."
Her blue fox eyes studied him carefully. "I heard he separated himself from his clan and family."
Rong Yue forced a polite smile. "Well, everyone knows Lan Meishan has always admired knowledge."
Old Beast Gu tilted her head slightly. "And you?"
Rong Yue did not hesitate. "I was told to seek you out. I was told you know the whereabouts of the dragon crystal."
Old Beast Gu’s lips curved faintly. "And who told you that?"
Rong Yue met her gaze. "A very reliable source."
Old Beast Gu chuckled softly. "You are fortunate then. Whoever told you that... is very clever."
Rong Yue nodded slowly.
It had been Shenzhen who directed him here.
Shenzhen had told him that only beasts as ancient as the dragon crystal itself could recognize its presence from afar.
According to him, something so powerful could never remain hidden forever.
Sooner or later, it would reveal itself.
Old Beast Gu’s gaze sharpened. "And what exactly do I gain from sharing such information with you, Rong Yue?"
Rong Yue raised a hand.
At once, a weapon appeared in the air between them. It floated calmly, wrapped in a faint silver glow.
It was the demon spear Mei Ren had used to attack Ningyan.
Old Beast Gu’s eyes lit up immediately with interest. "Oh?"
Rong Yue nodded. "And that is only the first gift. My servants have already delivered several more treasures for your collection."
Old Beast Gu waved her hand gently.
The spear drifted toward her.
With another small motion of her fingers, the weapon vanished into her possession.
Her expression brightened slightly. Then she looked back at Rong Yue.
"Recently," she began slowly, "there was a powerful surge of energy in the lower district of Water City."
Rong Yue’s attention sharpened.
"I sensed the presence of a phoenix..." She paused. "...the dragon crystal... And something else."
Her eyes darkened slightly. "Demonic corruption. It was clearly a battle."
Rong Yue’s eyes widened slightly.
"But the presence of the dragon crystal in that place..." she continued quietly. "That was unexpected."
Rong Yue’s hands slowly clenched at his sides.
The first person who came to his mind was Ningyan.
And Shenzhen knew Ningyan.
Rong Yue took a slow breath. "You will help me investigate this?"
Old Beast Gu smiled. "Of course. You have given me a very interesting gift."
Rong Yue nodded slowly.
But deep inside, a troubling thought refused to leave his mind.
He hoped it wasn’t Ningyan.
He truly hoped Ningyan had nothing to do with the dragon crystal.
Because if he did...
It would be very bad.
Very bad.
