Transmigration:The Villain Wants A Happy End Without His BeastHusbands-Chapter 115: Fugitives
Moving through the busy streets of Water City, Ningyan and Meishan walked side by side in their disguises.
Their goal was simple: leave the Heavenly Realm.
And to do that, they needed transportation.
They eventually reached the bustling ports along the city’s edge, where ships were docked along long wooden bridges. Some vessels were being cleaned, others were being loaded with cargo in preparation for departure.
Beastfolk moved everywhere, carrying goods, shouting instructions, hauling ropes.
Ningyan quietly observed the ships, trying to determine which ones were preparing to depart.
"Do you think any ships are leaving the Heavenly Realm tonight?" Meishan asked.
They continued walking along the bridge, passing workers and merchants while examining the vessels.
From what Ningyan could see, at least six ships looked ready to sail.
"I suppose we’ll have to ask in a way the captains would appreciate," Ningyan replied with a grin behind his mask.
By that, he clearly meant bribery.
Fortunately, they weren’t short on money.
They approached one of the smaller ships that was currently being loaded with sacks of food and trade goods.
Nearby, a beastman with fin-like ears and faint scales along his neck was loudly scolding a younger beastman whose deer antlers stuck out awkwardly from his head.
The older man had the permanently irritated look of someone who had spent too many years shouting at incompetent workers.
"Are you daft?" he barked. "I told you we needed to gain favor with the bosses! Of course you had to cause trouble by mixing up the sacks!"
The deer beastman shrank under the shouting. "I’m sorry, Captain Jing. It was an accident. I—"
He suddenly stopped speaking when Ningyan and Meishan approached.
Meishan stood quietly beside Ningyan like a hooded statue.
Ningyan, disguised as a tiger beastman, gave a casual bow.
"Hello there," he said politely. "Are you the captain of this ship?"
He gestured toward the vessel that was still being loaded by beastmen carrying supplies onboard.
The deer beastman quickly bowed and slipped away into the ship, clearly relieved to escape the scolding.
Captain Jing turned his attention toward Ningyan and Meishan, raising an eyebrow.
"And what do you want?" he asked bluntly. "Judging by those disguises, I wouldn’t be surprised if you were fugitives."
Ningyan let out an awkward laugh. "Does that mean you’ve sailed with many fugitives in your lifetime, Captain Jing?"
Captain Jing smirked. "Where do you want to go?"
"The Beast Realm," Ningyan replied.
He casually extended his hand toward Meishan.
Meishan blinked once before understanding.
He placed a small black pouch onto Ningyan’s palm.
Ningyan immediately handed it to Captain Jing.
The captain accepted it, opened the pouch slightly, and peeked inside.
His eyes brightened.
A satisfied smile slowly spread across his face.
"Well," he said, tucking the pouch of spirit crystals into his robes, "you’re in luck. This ship happens to be heading to the Beast Realm. I’ll make sure the two of you are properly hidden."
Ningyan chuckled. "Much appreciated, Captain."
He turned and walked toward the ship.
Meishan followed quietly behind him.
As he passed, Captain Jing studied the hooded figure curiously.
He parted his lips as if to ask something.
But Meishan turned away without acknowledging him and continued after Ningyan.
The captain awkwardly closed his mouth and cleared his throat, slightly embarrassed.
Then he turned and began yelling at another worker. "Hey! Watch where you’re putting that crate!"
Meanwhile, Ningyan and Meishan slipped into the ship and settled inside the storage hold, near a small window.
Ningyan immediately shut and bolted it.
Thankfully, several lanterns hung nearby, casting a warm glow through the cramped space.
For now, they would remain hidden there until the ship departed.
Ningyan slid down against the wall and settled on the floor of the storage hold.
Meishan remained standing for a moment, watching him quietly.
Then he bent slightly and removed his hood before moving closer and sitting beside him.
Ningyan immediately raised a hand to remove his illusion mask. But Meishan suddenly grabbed his wrist. Stopping him.
His glowing emerald serpent eyes narrowed slightly.
Ningyan looked at him in confusion.
But Meishan had already sensed something.
A familiar presence.
Ningyan blinked once more in confusion. Then suddenly he felt it too.
"Dragons?" he whispered.
Meishan nodded slowly before releasing his wrist. "Jun Haoxuan,"
Ningyan swallowed.
"What is Jun Haoxuan doing in Water City?" he whispered. "Aren’t dragons normally in Wind City?"
Meishan didn’t answer immediately.
Instead, he moved closer and wrapped an arm around Ningyan’s waist, pulling him onto his lap without the slightest hesitation.
He didn’t care that Ningyan was currently disguised as a tiger beastman.
Ningyan leaned back against his chest.
"He’s outside," Meishan said calmly. "But he might sense my presence."
Though his voice remained steady, his body had already become more alert.
^°^
Meanwhile, outside the ship at the port...
One of the larger vessels nearby belonged to the Azure Dragon Clan.
Jun Haoxuan had just stepped off the ship, several guards flanking him as they descended onto the dock.
But the moment his feet touched the ground, he stopped.
The guards halted as well.
Jun Haoxuan frowned slightly.
He could feel it.
The unmistakable presence of another divine beast prince.
"Lan Meishan...?" he murmured in surprise.
He slowly turned to his guards.
"I will continue from here alone," he said calmly. "You should return to Wind City and keep watch over my family."
The guards immediately bowed deeply. "Yes, Your Highness."
They turned and returned to the ship without question.
Jun Haoxuan began walking along the docks.
Ignoring the curious looks he received from passing beastfolk, he suppressed his own presence and focused on the faint aura he had sensed earlier.
But after a few steps, the feeling began to fade.
He stopped, frowning.
Then his gaze shifted toward a small cargo ship nearby.
Beastmen were moving back and forth, carrying goods and loading crates onto the vessel.
Jun Haoxuan stood there for a moment, silently watching the ship.
But after a moment, he shook his head slightly.
He hadn’t come to Water City to confront a divine beast prince. And certainly not someone who might also be searching for the Dragon Crystal.
According to Old Master Gu, the crystal’s presence had recently been sensed in this region.
But what was stranger was that the same aura had also carried the presence of a phoenix... mixed with demonic energy.
Jun Haoxuan had gathered enough information to suspect that the phoenix might be Su Ningyan.
But that didn’t make sense.
Why would Su Ningyan be connected to the Dragon Crystal?
Perhaps it was simply a coincidence.
Still...
Jun Haoxuan wanted to find him.
With that thought, he turned away from the ship.
He walked across the bridge that led back toward the main city, his expression calm but serious.
Behind him, the small cargo ship remained docked quietly. Carrying the very person he was searching for.
