Treasure Hunt: Tycoon's Priceless Runaway Wife-Chapter 81: Bring Baobao’s Mommy Back
Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Bring Baobao’s Mommy Back
"Put the party aside for now, or maybe, I’ll take the baby on a trip."
Ji Rui suddenly has a pang of conscience. All these years, he’s been providing a lavish material environment for his beloved son without much care for emotional support. He feels he’s owed his dear son far too much in this regard!
"Ah Ru, are you..."
Mr. Ji on the other end of the line seems to want to ask something but hesitates.
"What?"
Ji Rui appears impatient, his tolerance for Mr. Ji always limited.
"Are you planning to travel with the baby’s mommy and the baby?"
Ji Rui is stunned for a moment, and his voice suddenly turns cold.
"Who says?!"
Mr. Ji seems startled by his son’s response and pauses before murmuring, "It’s just a guess... isn’t it?"
"Of course not! Don’t mention her!"
Ji Rui shouts coldly, his thick eyebrows slightly knit together.
For a woman who would do anything for money, she’s in no way qualified to be the baby’s mommy!
Mr. Ji apparently doesn’t understand Ji Rui’s thoughts.
"Ah Ru, regardless of her status, I can accept it. Bring her back for us to meet!"
In recent years, Mr. Ji has introduced many women from well-matched families to Ji Rui, but none have interested him. He’s never even met any of these women.
Thus, Mr. Ji assumes Ji Rui must still be thinking about the baby’s mommy, hence overlooking all other women.
"Enough! You don’t need to interfere in my affairs!"
Ji Rui scolds into the phone and hangs up with a bang.
He’s no fool, certainly not about to bring back that woman who used his son as a bargaining chip for money to disgust him!
Ji Rui’s mood was already bad and only worsened because of the conversation with Mr. Ji.
Soon it was lunchtime, and Le Tong brought in the meal as usual.
Ji Rui was busy writing in his file and didn’t react at all when Le Tong entered.
"President Ji, your lunch is on the table. Eat it while it’s hot."
Le Tong put down the food, gave Ji Rui a reminder, got no response, and figured he was either too focused or still annoyed. So, she discreetly left.
Yang Sheng had just returned from a business trip this morning and brought back some specialties, most of which were gifts the professor and his wife asked him to bring back for Le Tong. He said he wasn’t on a business trip but had become Le Tong’s laborer.
The two sat at Le Tong’s desk, eating and chatting about the professor.
"The professor’s wife is raising two big fat chickens in the yard, and last night the professor suggested slaughtering one. But, the wife said no, it’s meant for Tongtong." Yang Sheng said, sounding quite annoyed.
Le Tong, delighted at Yang Sheng’s misfortune with the professor’s wife, burst into laughter.
"And in the end? Did you get to eat the chicken?" Her eyes sparkled, staring at Yang Sheng like a curious baby.
Yang Sheng glared at her indignantly, "Eat my foot, only chicken feathers for me! When the wife heard I like fat chicken, she went out and came back with a KFC family bucket, plopped it in front of me, and said, ’Eat as much as you want!’
Le Tong burst out laughing!
"Hahaha, the wife is hilarious! You got on her bad side before, so it’s only natural she’s taking revenge."
Yang Sheng rolled his eyes, "You knew?"
Le Tong nodded, "Yeah, the professor secretly mentioned it."
Yang Sheng looked regretful, "Sigh... Why was I so foolish back then..."
He said this and scooped up a huge mouthful of rice gloomily.
They were seated with their backs to Ji Rui’s office, so neither noticed when the office door opened.
Ji Rui stood at the doorway, watching Le Tong laugh heartily. He silently observed for several seconds, gave Yang Sheng a glance, and then retreated into his office, closing the door quietly.
Ji Rui would never admit it, but seeing Le Tong so naturally uninhibited with Yang Sheng did make him a little jealous.
Le Tong was obviously Ji Rui’s secretary, so how come Yang Sheng was more welcomed by her than her own boss?
Le Tong finished eating and went into Ji Rui’s office as usual to clean his lunch box.
She picked up the lunch box and found them all heavy with food inside.
Opening them, she saw untouched boxes of rice and dishes that were clearly Ji Rui’s favorites.
"President? Today’s meal didn’t suit your taste?"
Le Tong looked at the dishes inside, knowing they were Ji Rui’s preferred ones, puzzled why they hadn’t been touched.
Ji Rui had indeed opened the boxes earlier but had no appetite and didn’t feel like eating, so he went to ask Le Tong to order takeaway. But upon opening the door and seeing her joyfully chatting with Yang Sheng, he lost his appetite altogether.
Ji Rui initially didn’t plan to say anything to Le Tong, but since she stood there waiting for his reply, he raised an eyebrow at her, "No!"
"Then, what is it?"
Given Ji Rui’s usual appetite, Le Tong had packed accordingly, but not a bite was eaten. Perhaps President Ji wasn’t really unwell, but protesting her disrespectful words from the morning?
But then again, a man like President Ji surely wouldn’t be petty!
"I’m an adult, capable of taking care of myself!"
Ji Rui’s words gave Le Tong quite a shock.
Who said a man like President Ji wouldn’t be petty? He was probably pettier than many women!
With Ji Rui’s words, Le Tong naturally couldn’t interfere anymore; after all, if anyone had to work on an empty stomach, it was him. If anyone suffered from a stomachache, it was him, not her.
"Not eating? Then I’ll take it away!" ƒгeewebnovёl_com
Le Tong thought, his affairs aren’t hers to worry about, whether he eats or not is none of her business. But if the lunchboxes were left on the coffee table, it would be her dereliction of duty.
Ji Rui was already upset, not quite angry, but perhaps more petty.
With Le Tong’s question, he now truly felt angry.
"Take it away!"
Le Tong was too lazy to care whether he was angry or not, packed the boxes back into the bag, and left the president’s office.
Ji Rui worked on an empty stomach until the afternoon, and by the end of the day, his attentive little secretary still hadn’t come in.
Ji Rui didn’t mind the hunger; before Le Tong became his secretary, he often worked without eating. Sometimes, he’d go hungry from morning till night without any issues.
But today, after just missing a meal, his stomach subtly started to protest by the end of the day.
Damn, even this damn stomach behaves like people, the better you treat it, the less obedient it becomes!
