Chapter 732: Misunderstandings

The World God from the Sea Abyss bore a hatred toward the Nether Race that was as deep as the ocean.

She gnashed her teeth and spat curses, then cast a slightly contemptuous glance at Pang Jian and asked, "How long has it been since you became a World God?"

Pang Jian was taken aback. "Not very long."

"Exactly how long?" Hai Wei pressed.

"Roughly...just a few decades," Pang Jian said calmly.

"Elder Yuan, he doesn't seem to have ascended to godhood yet. He likely relied on the World God Pendant to enter," Hai Wei said with a frown.

This divine being of the Sea Race had deep blue eyes that shimmered with a mysterious light, like the bottomless depths of the sea. She scrutinized Pang Jian with growing curiosity, but the longer she looked, the more confused she became. After all, she could not sense a Divine Persona within Pang Jian!

Pang Jian's Immortal Divine Soul was not made of flesh and blood. It was a strange construct of energies, an anomaly entirely beyond their understanding.

"Elder Yuan, is he truly a human from the Abyss?" Hai Wei's silver tail swayed gently in the air, shimmering with a radiant light that lent her an exotic allure. "I'm no stranger to the True Gods of the human race! Every one I've encountered had a body of flesh and blood like us, but he's different!"

The World God of the Sea Race found Pang Jian increasingly intriguing.

Elder Yuan... It was only from her words that Pang Jian learned the name of the World God that had killed Pan Di and possessed his body.

"Girl, you've stayed in the bizarre mist for far too long. You haven't ventured out into the starry skies for a long time." Elder Yuan chuckled. "The name Pang Jian has become quite well-known in the starry skies recently.

"It's only because the Sea Abyss is so remote and far removed from the Abyss that you're unaware of the many Outer Gods who've descended into the bizarre mist near the Abyss, all for the sake of hunting him down." freewēbnoveℓ.com

"Really?" Hai Wei asked skeptically.

The pearl earrings dangling from her translucent earlobes, the necklace of shell ornaments resting against her pale neck, and the jade bangles encircling her wrists all made light tinkling sounds when she moved.

"What exactly did he do to provoke so many Outer Gods?" she asked, blinking as she studied Pang Jian's defined features. "I know that Great Demon God He Motian and Zi Mo of the Ghost Race gathered a group of Outer Gods out in the starry skies beyond. Were they targeting the Abyss?"

Elder Yuan nodded. "Yes, just like how we're targeting the Nether Abyss. There's an Outer God from the Ghost Race named You Kui. Do you remember him?"

"I ran into him ages ago. What about him?" Hai Wei asked.

"He's dead. Pang Jian killed him," Elder Yuan replied.

Hai Wei was visibly surprised, seeming to finally regard the World God of the Abyss more seriously.

"You Kui was a mid-ranking God like me, but since I hail from an abyss, I'm naturally stronger than him. If you killed You Kui, it means you're not as simple as you look." Extending her hand, she said, "I'm Hai Wei. Let's start over."

Women of the Sea Race, born in the Sea Abyss, were known for their bold and upfront personalities. Feeling embarrassed for looking down on him earlier, she directly offered a handshake as an apology.

"No need for formalities," Pang Jian replied coolly, though he made no effort to take her hand. In fact, he even looked away, shifting the gaze he had briefly cast upon her. Glancing up at where sun, moon, and stars could be seen together, he asked curiously, "Is it difficult for those in the Nether Abyss to communicate with the Outer Gods beyond?"

Ying Yue's mark still lingered in the full moon that resided within his chest. In theory, as long as he was under moonlight, he could establish a connection with her. Despite this, he could not establish a proper connection when he tested it out.

"You're awfully full of yourself!" Hai Wei snorted. "So what if you killed You Kui? What's the big deal? You've only been a World God for a short while, and you're already acting so high and mighty?"

Before Pang Jian could respond, she huffed and darted off toward a continent below.

That continent held two massive lakes, and nestled at their bottoms were palaces built with crystal and coral, clearly home to many members of the Sea Race. It seemed Hai Wei intended to rally them, inciting them to rise up and strike down the leader of the Nether Race.

"You don't need to mind Hai Wei, she's not one for scheming. She's simple to the core," Elder Yuan said, the warmth in his voice leaving with Han Wei. Then, in response to Pang Jian's earlier question, he added, "You're right. The other races living in the Nether Abyss cannot communicate with the Outer Gods. Only the Nether Race and the Nether Gods have secret techniques that ignore the barrier and communicate with the outside world."

"There are restrictions within the barrier?" Pang Jian asked in surprise.

Elder Yuan gave a quiet hum. "Both you humans and the Nether Race are truly remarkable. One wages war in the starry skies, while the other focuses its efforts on the abysses within the bizarre mist, and both have achieved no small measure of success.

"Pang Jian, are you aware that divine beings ascended to the starry skies from abysses often differ greatly from those not born of the abysses?" Elder Yuan asked.

After a moment of thought, Pang Jian replied, "I've started to notice that just recently. The Outer Gods gathered in the Rock Devourer's fragmented lands didn't attack me on sight."

"That's right. Not all divine beings harbor hostility toward your human race," Elder Yuan said. "Those rallying around He Motian and Zi Mo just so happen to be among those dissatisfied with the human race of the Abyss. Either that or they're after the treasures within it.

"But the ones that the divine beings from the abysses despise most are the Nether Race."

Elder Yuan's hollow eye sockets suddenly shifted toward a few rapidly approaching flying vessels.

Warriors of the Celestial Race and the Ghost Race on the flying vessels caught sight of Pang Jian. Clad in fine garments clearly stripped from fallen members of the Nether Race, they pointed at Pang Jian and shouted with fanatical zeal.

"Nether Race!"

"There's a Nether Race warrior here!"

"Kill him!"

Their bloodlines were only in Rank Seven or Rank Eight. They were weak enough that Pang Jian viewed them as no different from flies and mosquitoes.

The Nether Race had enslaved them for years, forcing them into hard labor and subjecting them to endless humiliation and torment. Finally free and with powerful Gods backing them, they were eager to vent their hatred to the fullest, fully consumed in bloodlust.

As the flying vessels closed in, a Celestial Race warrior flapped his wings and charged ahead of the others.

"You're not going to stop them?" Pang Jian asked with a frown.

"A bunch of fools blinded by bloodlust. Let them die," Elder Yuan said coldly. "Why do I need to bother with them?"

"Alright." Pang Jian nodded and lightly flicked his fingers.

Streaks of black-gold sword light pierced straight through the bodies of the six Celestial Race warriors rushing toward him. The sword light abruptly curved in mid-air, slicing the oncoming flying vessels into pieces.

In the blink of an eye, the Celestial Race and Ghost Race warriors aboard were reduced to mangled limbs and broken flesh, drifting among the wreckage of their flying vessels.

Other nearby foreign race warriors with bloodlines as high as Rank Nine noticed the disturbance.

"It's a Nether God!"

"A Nether God has finally revealed itself! Everyone take note! A Nether God has appeared! Rally your strongest at once. We have to bring this one down!"

"A Nether God has left the lower layer. Kill him!"

Foreign races on the fragmented lands and continents shouted loudly.

As Hai Wei was about to descend into one of the continents with lakes, she caught the sound of their cries and instinctively looked up. She could sense some of the divine beings that the World Gods had invited from the other abysses charging in Pang Jian's direction.

"They think he's a Nether God? Serves him right! That's what he gets for being so rude," she muttered to herself. Then, quietly taking out her World God Pendant, she whispered into it, "Elder Yuan, this guy's seriously annoying. Can't we let him suffer a little?"

Elder Yuan replied, "I never intended to help him out."

Hai Wei smiled. "Perfect. I'll just watch from a distance and see what kind of trick this World God of the Abyss used to kill You Kui."
