Tribulation of Myriad Races-Chapter 1319: Separation (1)
Chapter 1319: Separation (1)
Su Yu approached the demonic beasts while the others looked on.
The beasts stared at him.
Some were terrified, while some were merely silent.
Back before Su Yu left the Human Realm, he still needed their strength. But that was no longer the case. He was already terrifyingly strong himself, with a powerful force backing him.
Meanwhile, the strongest of the nine beasts was only a sixth-stage Mountainsea while the weakest of them were not even Cloudbreaches. The suanni and the mountaindrill bull were already Cloudbreaches, but they were merely fresh Cloudbreaches.
Su Yu sat down in front of them nonchalantly and said, "Bloodmoon, Great Mountain, and One-eye. I promised to free the three of you back then. The secrets you knew back then are no longer secrets. It is now fine for you to leave."
Back then, he had promised the three of them to help with the battle at Starfall Mountain for their freedom. However, they had learned too many of his secrets. Thus, their freedom had been delayed.
Now, those secrets were no longer important to Su Yu. He said, "If you wish to leave, I will let you go. No matter what, you have helped me before. I will even gift you with some treasures to fully settle things between us."
Then, Su Yu looked at the three silently. The three exchanged gazes. They came from relatively powerful races. Bloodmoon was a member of the blood devourer race. One-eye was a member of the one-eyed giant race. Great Mountain was a member of the mountain giant race.
These were races with Invincibles. Furthermore, the mountain giant race was the subsidiary race of the primordial giant race, a powerful ancient race.
Bloodmoon's true form was similar to that of a wolf with red eyes, giving him a rather ferocious appearance. Despite his appearance, he was behaving in an extremely respectful manner, "Lord, if we return to our races now, will they lock us up and search our memories forcefully?"
Su Yu answered expressionlessly, "I don't have the answer to that. It depends on your races. Many have forgotten about the three of you, but I believe some will still remember that you once fought for me. That is especially true for your races. There is no way they will forget about that so easily."
One-eye said, "Lord, do you mean that you won't give us any further assistance after we leave?"
Su Yu nodded, "Yes. I intend to fully settle the debt between us. Back then, our original deal was your freedom for your assistance. That is only a transaction, nothing else. On account of what you once did to humanity, I owe you nothing more than that."
The three sank into silence.
After a short moment, Great Mountain said, "Lord, do we have other options? Perhaps...we can stay as your followers?"
Su Yu laughed, "My followers? Are you sure about that? I'm currently based in an ancient city. That is not a place anyone can enter. You won't be able to stay for long in the city either. Do you intend to stay outside the gate as guards? Don't forget that I have offended the entire myriad races. How will that even benefit you? Are you trying to get yourself killed by the myriad races by joining me?"
Su Yu was not quite willing to accept them as followers. There was no need for that.
Firstly, he could no longer find any use for them. Secondly, he was under great pressure as well. He couldn't even leave his city without a disguise anymore. How could they possibly benefit from following him? Following him would only put them in more danger.
Great Mountain said, "But the myriad races are well aware that we once fought for you. Even if our races can forget about that, the major races won't spare us. They will definitely try to dig out your secrets from us. We don't know anything useful, but they won't believe that."
Su Yu thought about it and offered, "I can make an introduction to Great Xia or some other prefecture. You can stay with them..."
"Lord, we wish to follow you."
Bloodmoon declared.
Su Yu laughed, "And why is that? I doubt I'm that charming. I also doubt I'm so domineering that I can conquer the hearts of others with my presence around. Why do you want to follow me? Strictly speaking, I'm only a living dead. I don't even know how long I can stay alive. My enemies are Invincibles and Sunmoons. Following me is the same as suicide."
After a short silence, Bloodmoon said, "Lord, you still need us. You don't have anyone you can trust in Grandstar City. The city does not have its own guards. We can join the city and serve as your guards. We can also help with the various menial jobs you need handled in the city. We are Mountainseas. We might be weak, but we are strong enough to serve as guards."
Su Yu merely stared at Bloodmoon silently. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
With a helpless tone, Bloodmoon explained, "Lord, this is our sole option. If we leave, we can only roam the Allheaven Battlefield aimlessly. If we return, we will die. We have stayed in the Human Realm for too many years. The myriad races are greatly desperate to learn everything they can about the multiple character faction. We know nothing, but nobody will believe that."
Su Yu said, "To join the ancient city, you will need to convert into residents."
"Lord, that does not matter. Our growth will be slower, we will need to bear the burden of some death qi, and our lifespans will be shortened somewhat. All those are acceptable. We're not that ambitious. We have never aimed to become Sunmoons or Invincibles."
"At the very least, we will be safe while we're in the ancient city. Nobody is willing to rashly kill a resident inside an ancient city."
"That's right..."
"We are also confident that with you around, a misfortune will turn into a blessing."
"..."
The beasts were clearly unwilling to leave. They would rather stay even if they had to convert into ancient city residents. Their odds of surviving after leaving were too low.
No matter what, they were Mountainseas. They were no fools. As far as the myriad races were concerned, the mark of Su Yu on them could no longer be removed. Even if their own races were willing to spare them, the major races wouldn't. Ultimately, their races would hand them over to the major races. That would be a fate worse than death.
Su Yu was quite surprised at their choice. As far as he was concerned, freedom was not something he would give up on, regardless of how dangerous it might get. Better a life as a lone wanderer exiled from the rest of humanity than a life as a slave.
Clearly, these three thought differently. He had thought that they would be happy to regain their freedom.
After a short silence, he said, "If this is your choice, I won't stop you. You are free to convert into residents if you want. But the debt between us will be cleared. The offer has been given. You have rejected it."
The three felt very helpless, but they had nothing to say.
Going back? It had been decades. They didn't even know how things were back home anymore. Perhaps their rivals or enemies were the ones in power currently. Returning when they had nothing to protect themselves with was basically the same as courting death.
After being locked in the Human Realm for so many years, their potential had been damaged. It was unlikely that they would ever be able to reach the Sunmoon Realm. In that case, they might as well join the ancient city. At the very least, they would have some security there.
Done with the three, Su Yu shifted his attention to the others.
Of the six, the water elemental was the strongest. He was currently an eighth-stage Cloudbreach, and he wasn't that far from the ninth stage. He had been a late-stage Cloudbreach for a long time. After his release from the Wentan Research Center, both he and the shadow had repaired their potential significantly. That was all thanks to Su Yu's fire of inheritance.
After transforming into his humanoid form, the water elemental said, "Lord, I wish to follow you as well."
The shadow offered, "I wish to stay."
Su Yu raised his brow as he looked at the remaining four. Noticing his gaze, the white civet and fire crow hurriedly shouted, "I'm willing to follow you, Lord!"
Once again, Su Yu was surprised by their choice.
Finally, he looked at the suanni and the mountaindrill bull. He was sure the two lazy bastards would want to stay as well. Surprisingly, the suanni said, "Uhm...Lord...are you really letting us go free?"
"Hmm?"
That single reply from Su Yu was enough to cause the suanni to tremble. He hurriedly said, "If that's not the case, please forget about this."
"You wish to go?"
Seeing that Su Yu wasn't angry, the suanni answered after a short silence, "Yes. I don't want to become an ancient city resident. No matter what, I am a genius from the suanni race. If you are allowing this, I wish to leave."
"Are you leaving because you're afraid that I'll eat you for real?"
After yet another pause, the suanni shook his head and said, "No. I love a life of freedom in the Allheaven Battlefield. I might be terrified of death...But I used to compete against the various geniuses of the world in the past. I am not willing to settle as a guard forever. I am not willing to spend the rest of my life like this."
Su Yu was surprised, but he also understood the suanni. Twenty years ago, the suanni had entered the Luminous Domain Mansion. If he wasn't a genius, that wouldn't have been possible.
This was both a surprising and reasonable choice. Su Yu still remembered how hard the suanni had struggled during his first meeting with the suanni. He might have behaved like some silly pet as of late, but he was no pet. He was a suanni. A rare genius of the suanni race. A young genius who had killed the student of Silk Destroying King. Someone who had prevailed over the student of an Invincible.
Su Yu nodded, "You may leave. You might not have helped me much, but you have been quite cooperative. I will allow this. On account of the time we spent together, let me give you one reminder. Be careful out there."
"Thank you, Lord."
Slowly, life returned to the eyes of the suanni as he asked, "Lord...in that case, I'll be taking my leave now. Please forgive me if this seems sudden. By the way, my name is not Suanni. I am called Gubokaila."
"Noted, Suanni." Su Yu nodded. Inwardly, he was complaining about how hard it was to pronounce that name. He would stick with Suanni.
The suanni was left speechless. Fine. So be it.
With his trademark silly expression, the mountaindrill bull said, "Lord, Brother Suanni and I once promised each other to travel the world together. If it's fine with you, I wish to leave with Suanni."
Su Yu laughed in amusement, "Did the two of you develop a friendship while guarding the door together? Suanni is a carnivore. Are you not afraid that he will eat you?"
"Heh..."
The mountaindrill bull merely laughed. He said nothing about that.
Su Yu was surprised that these two would choose to leave, but he didn't mind it. They were Cloudbreaches. As long as they remained careful, they might be able to survive well in the Allheaven Battlefield.
Su Yu nodded, "I'll get someone to send the two of you away..."
The suanni hurriedly said, "It's fine, Lord. There's no need to trouble you with something like this. We can leave and cross the Eastrift Valley together. We will enter the Plain of Desires and leave the eastern sector behind us."
"Sure."
The two were relieved to hear that. They had been quite worried that their request would offend Su Yu.
The other beasts said nothing about their choice. All of them had their own reasons for their choices. The suanni and mountaindrill bull were quite young compared to the others. And both were also decently talented, with their past injuries mostly healed. They also hadn't been imprisoned for as long. It was understandable that they would want to leave.
