Tyrant? No, I am the Villain-Chapter 81: oo
Meanwhile Frederick was on his way towards a private library in the City. He was walking on the sidewalk, the City had a rather busy street with many going to works and what not.
The roads were specifically designed to have a lane for Royalty and Nobility at the centre of the road which is exclusive, divided by mere paints beside the exclusive lane comes the area for the commoners which was wide enough to host multiple carriages.
Although such a way was for the main roads connecting the main palace to key buildings and also directly towards the outside of the City.
He finally arrived at a small privately owned library. He entered to see it not filled much, there were barely eleven individuals inside excluding him.
Frederick moved forward, shelf after shelf avoiding a lot of until he reached the shelf at the very end as he checked the books. Finally he grabbed one with the title of "Murder" which was less conspicuous.
After taking the book he wanted, he made his way towards the counter. But as he walked, he opened the book and inside there was a empty page and a pen concealed inside. He took the pen, wrote the name of the target which was Estefan Angeras and he also wrote the payment.
After he was done, he placed the book on the counter with a pouch filled with coins. "I would like to purchase this service." He said as he looked at the person who was sat there.
The person grabbed the book, opened it up to see the name. "Happy to do business with you good sir, I hope you return for more purchase." The person bowed a bit.
Frederick made his way to the exit after that as the book was left there on the counter. The person read the name out loud. "Estefan Angeras." It was heard by everyone in the store. Suddenly the ten individuals who were inside reading random books, disappeared.
Meanwhile back at Palace, the squabbling of both the Duke and Duchess weren't truly over. When the Duke dismissed the idea of assassination to be stupid and cowardly, the Duchess responded by saying. "There is no honour in war, it is be killed or just kill through whatever means necessary as long as victory is achieved. This assassination is important because I need this victory whether you like it or not."
"It is true that in war you have to kill since everyone else is aiming to take your life." The Duke said. "But that doesn't mean you should do the same here when your opponent doesn't even have a chance to prove themselves."
"Why should I allow him to prove himself?" Lady Cornelia shouted. "I don't want to see him proving anything, I only want to see him fail and fall. Because that is only way for my son to win his destiny."
"Then why isn't your son claiming his destiny by himself?" The Duke shouted back. "Why is he snooping around brothels wasting his life, his time over something so petty? You must answer this you wretch."
"So that's it huh!" She sneered. "You just want to argue because I signed the death warrant of your son. You don't want to see him dead so you are threatening me to cancel the assasination, such a dotting father you are."
"Woman!" The thunderous voice of the Duke filled the air, it was pressuring for anyone to even stand upright in front of him. "Don't try to twist my words to fit your petty agenda. You are not a good mother, you barely looked at Carius and was only caring for Carnel because of how he is your oldest and his chance for my seat. Keep this up and I will make someone else my heir."
"Bringing Carius into this? Just because he was chosen my Goddess." Lady Cornelia explained. "I let him go to become the Paladin because he was chosen leaving me with Carnel alone. How about you? You barely even look at my children. You just care about that brat Estefan, you just want to give him your seat."
The Duke grabbed her by her throat and raised her up. "Why do you intend to push this? I have told you many times how wrong you are. Just because your son is a failure doesn't mean everyone else is, that brat is a mistake and will always be, it is your fault that your son is unable to meet the same level of Estefan. Rectify it, train your son to be better that than being a bitch about it."
He then threw her on the floor. "You disappoint me woman... You raised your son to be a failure, instead of accepting it and making him better, you just decided to nurture that brats shortcomings to become even more short. He is unfit to be my heir and even then I gave him a chance... Do not push me anymore, this is my last warning, fix your son and I will give him a chance he would deserve by then."
The Duke walked away while his wife laid on the floor while holding her neck which had the prints of the Duke's tight grip.
Her servants ran in, they were all waiting for the communication between the Duke and the lady to be over for them to walk in. They grabbed the Lady as helping her to stand back up. She just laughed at the ordeal, "it's been a while since he grabbed my neck like this."
"Should we report this to the King my lady?" One of the servants asked. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
She dismissed it, "No... Knowing my brother, he won't do much. Well, you really can't do much to that man in this land. It is totally under his control, but soon the grand plan will come true and everything will change." She smirked while looking as her husband disappeared at the edge of the corridor.
"Take me to my room." She gave her order as her servants helped her walk.
Frederick after an hour, returned back to the Palace where he prostrated in from of the Lady Cornelia. "I have submitted an order to assasinate Estefan Angeras."
"Good." Lady Cornelia responded while she was busy applying medicine to her neck while looking at the mirror.
"May I ask what happened to your neck?" Frederick asked since he was after all the head Guard who was tasked with her protection.
She just laughed at that question. "Just my husband loving me in his own way." She jested.
"My lady, should I protest?" He asked.
"What would that gain? Nothing except for my husband slapping you down, my brother will not be able to do much, at best he would just hasten his plan to rid of the Angeras as fast as he could for retribution. Other than that nothing, the best revenge would be making him see his son's cold corpse. Would I get that revenge?" She turned to face Frederick.
"You will my lady." He assured her. "The ones I have contacted are the best in their job in this Duchy. They haven't tasted any failures, so dealing with a mere brat with barely any protection would be nothing."
"He does have protection of his father." She said. "Especially considering the deeds he had done in the City. Seems like my husband is loving his eldest son so much."
"I recognise that as well, hence why I decided to contact the best in this land." Frederick explained why he gave the orders to this specific group. "They have the best stealth in assasination. No matter how strong the people the Duke may have arranged to guard Estefan. They won't even know what hit them, the job will be done my lady, we can be assured with it."
"I hope so." The Lady responded as she continued to apply the medicine. "This would be the last time I would be asking you do something like this. I am done with failures, especially from those who are closer to me and were the most competent till now. So don't fail me, I don't want to see my competent people showing incompetence all of a sudden over simple things."
"Do not worry my lady." Frederick responded. "I do not intend to fail you. I am willing to risk my everything and kill him by myself if this fails."
Lady Cornelia chuckled at that thought. "If that were to happen, I would say it would be overkill since you were not send here to use your skills to assasinate."
Frederick responded. "You think of me too highly my lady, I am but a simple servant of the throne. I was send here by his majesty to serve you till my very last breath and I am willing to give up my life if that is necessary to achieve the results you want no matter what my lady."
