Chapter 100: Chapter 100 - Come From?

Lena’s breath was shallow, her body tense as she hovered over Lucas. She didn’t know when she had moved so close, but now she was right there, her knees pressing into the mattress, her hands trembling as they clenched at her sides.

Lucas was asleep—completely unaware. His face was relaxed, his breathing steady. The room was silent except for the faint rustling of the curtains as the night breeze drifted in.

Her fingers twitched.

Something inside her whispered—just a little closer. Just a small touch.

Her heartbeat pounded against her ribs, her skin feeling feverish, hypersensitive to the air around her. She could feel the warmth of his body even from where she sat.

Why... Why am I like this?

Lena’s mind was screaming at her to stop, to get up, to leave the room before she did something she would regret. But her body refused to obey.

Then—

GRRRWLLL...

A loud, unmistakable rumble echoed from her stomach.

Lena froze.

Her eyes widened in horror. The sound was obnoxiously loud in the dead silence of the room. For a moment, nothing happened. Then—

Lucas shifted slightly in his sleep.

Panic surged through her veins.

Shit, shit, shit—

Before she could even process what was happening, she scrambled off the bed, nearly tripping over herself in her haste to get away. Her hands fumbled to grab the bag of food he had tossed her earlier, and without sparing another glance at his sleeping form, she bolted for the door.

She barely managed to slip outside before pressing her back against the wooden wall, her chest rising and falling rapidly.

Her stomach rumbled again.

Lena clenched her teeth, gripping the bag of food so tightly that the paper crinkled in her grasp.

Hunger. Right. That’s why I came here in the first place.

Not for...

She squeezed her eyes shut, shaking her head violently.

No. This wasn’t her. This wasn’t normal.

It had to be some kind of passive effect. A skill. A debuff. Something that was not her own thoughts.

Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to move. She needed to eat, cool her head, and never think about this night ever again.

As she walked away, still rattled, a single thought lingered in her mind:

What the hell is happening to me?

---

The Next Morning...

Lucas groaned as he stirred from sleep, the morning light creeping through the wooden blinds. His body felt lighter than before, a strange warmth buzzing through his veins. He hadn’t done anything special last night, had he?

A soft chime rang in his mind, and suddenly—

Ding!

[ +500 EXP ]

[ +300 EXP ]

[ +200 EXP ]

[ +450 EXP ]

...

[ Level Up! ]

Lucas sat up with a start, blinking as golden light briefly flashed around him. His body pulsed with energy for a moment before settling down, leaving behind a familiar notification.

Ding!

[ Congratulations! You has leveled up to Level 7 – Crook! ]

A sarcastic voice echoed in his head, the system’s usual tone laced with amusement.

[ Wow, look at you, climbing the ranks of criminality. Such a role model. ]

Lucas rubbed his temple. "Oh, shut up."

He glanced at the notification log, frowning. "EXP? From what?"

The system chimed again.

[ Oh, you know... from that MILF Raid Boss in the bathroom yesterday. ]

Lucas froze. His brain stalled.

"...For real?" 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

The system let out an exaggerated sigh.

[ Of course not, dumbass. It’s all from the lava slimes you slaughtered yesterday. What do you think this is, some kind of adult RPG? ]

Lucas exhaled, shaking his head. "You’re an ass."

[ And you’re slow. But hey, congrats on the delayed rewards! You see, unlike that fancy modern world you’re used to, this world runs on a... let’s say, ’highly sophisticated’ reward distribution system. ]

Lucas narrowed his eyes. "You mean a laggy mess."

[ Exactly! ]

Lucas rolled his eyes, pushing the notifications aside. He stretched his arms, feeling the slight ache in his muscles from the previous day’s battles. His fingers flexed, energy humming beneath his skin from the level-up boost.

His stomach rumbled.

Right. Food first.

He moved to get out of bed when something made him pause.

The faintest scent lingered in the air—something familiar, something warm. It wasn’t just the scent of the room or his own lingering sweat from the night before. It was...

Lena?

His brow furrowed. He glanced at the door, then the spot near his bed. There was nothing out of place, but something felt off.

A vague memory flickered in the back of his mind—of hearing something shift in the room last night. A presence, almost. But he had been too exhausted to register it properly.

Was it a dream?

He shook his head, dismissing the thought.

After breakfast with Lena, who was affected by his passive skill. Both Lena ans Lucas walk to adventurer guild.

The morning sun bathed the bustling streets of Raventhorn , a city under the rule of Velmoria, one of the four great kingdoms that controlled the continent. Cobblestone streets stretched wide, lined with towering medieval-style buildings, their stone and wood structures adorned with colorful banners bearing the Velmorian crest—a golden lion against a crimson backdrop. The air buzzed with the chatter of merchants, adventurers, and common folk going about their business.

Lucas and Lena walked through the streets, making their way toward the Adventurer’s Guild.

Lucas glanced around, taking in the medieval scenery with a mix of curiosity and mild discomfort.

"Man... this place really screams ’old-timey fantasy setting,’ huh?" he muttered.

Lena rolled her eyes. "Obviously. You’re in a medieval fantasy world, idiot."

Lucas ignored her, his gaze drifting to a street vendor selling roasted skewers. His stomach rumbled.

Lena smirked. "Still hungry big boy?"

Lucas shot her a glare. "Nah."

Lena chuckled, clearly enjoying his discomfort.

As they arrived at the Adventurer’s Guild, the massive wooden doors loomed before them. The guild building itself was grand, with an aged yet sturdy structure, large arched windows, and a tall Velmorian flag swaying at the top. The inside was just as lively as the streets outside, filled with adventurers of all ranks chatting, drinking, and browsing quest boards.

Behind the front desk stood Sarah, the guild receptionist.

Sarah was a woman in her late twenties, with shoulder-length brown hair tied in a neat ponytail, emerald-green eyes, and an air of no-nonsense professionalism—except for the occasional sarcastic remark she reserved for certain adventurers.

She looked up as they entered and immediately sighed when she saw them.

"Oh great, new star of Raventhorn just walked in."

Lucas grinned. "Hahaha, that’s too much"

Lena snorted while Lucas rolled his eyes, stepping closer to the counter.

"Anyway, what’s up, Sarah? Anything interesting happening in town?"

Sarah raised an eyebrow. "You mean Raventhorn ? Or Velmoria in general?"

"Velmoria."

Sarah frowned slightly but answered, "You really don’t know? Velmoria is one of the Four Great Kingdoms that rule over this continent. It’s a powerhouse in both military and magic. How do you not know this?"

Lucas stiffened slightly. "Uhh..."

Sarah narrowed her eyes. "Wait... you seriously don’t know?"

Lucas scratched his head. "I mean, I knew it was a kingdom, just... not that it was one of four superpowers ruling the continent."

Sarah’s expression shifted from confused to deep concern.

"...Where the hell have you been living? Under a rock?"

Lucas opened his mouth but hesitated. Crap. How was he supposed to answer that?

Lena, standing beside him, subtly turned to glance at him. Her gaze was sharp—she was waiting for his response too.

Sarah crossed her arms, her frown deepening. "Wait... don’t tell me you also don’t know about the other three kingdoms?"

Lucas, sweating, decided to play dumb. "Haha, um... remind me?"

Sarah stared at him.

Silence.

Then she sighed, rubbing her temples. "I can’t believe this..."

"Okay, listen up, because I am not repeating myself."

She cleared her throat and began explaining:

1. Velmoria – The kingdom they were currently in, known for its strong military, powerful magic academies, and vast influence over trade and nobility.

2. Draconis Dominion – A kingdom to the east ruled by half-dragons and beastkin. They were known for their warrior culture and untamed lands.

3. Celestia Theocracy – A holy kingdom in the north, ruled by the Church of the Divine Light. They had some of the most powerful healers and paladins.

4. Oblivion Empire – A sinister empire in the west, ruled by tyrants and shadowy magic. Not much was known about them, but their presence loomed like a storm over the continent.

Sarah leaned over the counter, staring deep into Lucas’s soul.

"How. Do. You. Not. Know. This?"

Lucas opened his mouth—then shut it. He had nothing.

Lena crossed her arms. "Yeah, Lucas. Where are you from, exactly?"

Lucas hesitated.

His brain ran through options.

He could lie. Say he was from some tiny, backwater village with no education.

Or he could tell the truth.

That he was from Eldoria, Neosia—an industrial city from a different world. A place with skyscrapers, electricity, cars, and absolutely zero magic.

Yeah, like hell he was saying that.

Lucas forced a laugh. "Haha! Well, you see, it’s kind of a long story—"

Sarah slammed her hands on the desk. "Lucas. Where. Are. You. From."

Lena narrowed her eyes.

Lucas sweated bullets.

He had no clue how to answer.
