Chapter 117: Chapter 117 - Siraye Valtara

Lucas sighed, leaning back in his chair as he swirled the contents of his mug. The laughter had died down, and now boredom was creeping in fast.

"Alright," he muttered, tapping his fingers against the wooden table. "We’ve been sitting here long enough. I need to move."

Lena raised an eyebrow. "What, tired of being a professional NPC already? I thought you were finally embracing the lifestyle."

Lucas rolled his eyes. "If I sit here any longer, I’m going to turn into a background prop. We should at least check the guild for commissions."

Lena stretched lazily, her smirk widening. "Ohhh, you mean you wanna go see if your red-haired warrior mommy is still there?"

Lucas groaned. "For the last time, I don’t—"

Lena waved a hand. "Yeah, yeah, ’just analyzing her combat techniques.’ Sure, buddy. Whatever you say."

Lucas ignored her and stood up. "Let’s go before another lunatic walks in here."

As they left the tavern and stepped onto the bustling streets, Lucas was immediately struck by the chaotic atmosphere around the guild.

Adventurers gathered in tight clusters, murmuring in urgent tones. The bulletin board—normally packed with routine quests—was nearly empty. Instead, a large notice had been pinned in the center, drawing everyone’s attention.

"Great," Lucas muttered. "Something big happened."

Lena whistled. "And by the looks of it, probably something dangerous."

Lucas hesitated for a moment. If the guild was this chaotic, that meant the red-haired warrior woman was likely still inside. His instincts told him to stay away—but his boredom argued otherwise.

With a sigh, he stepped forward, weaving through the crowd until he could get a clear view of the notice.

It was a high-priority bounty.

"Urgent Request: High-Level Threat Detected Near Raventhorn’s Border. Adventurers of Silver-Rank and above are advised to report to the guild for further details. Lower-ranked adventurers are advised to avoid the area. Reward pending based on contribution."

Lena peered over his shoulder. "Oof. That’s not vague at all."

Lucas crossed his arms. "A high-level threat, and they don’t even specify what it is. That’s... concerning."

Lena grinned. "Oh, come on, Lucas. This is totally a plot hook. How can you resist?"

Lucas exhaled. "Because I enjoy having a pulse, that’s why."

Before Lena could tease him further, the guild doors swung open with force.

A woman strode out, crimson hair cascading down her back, her heavy boots thudding against the stone pavement. A massive sword rested against her shoulder, the blade still stained with remnants of battle.

Lucas felt his stomach drop.

Yup. There she was.

The red-haired warrior woman.

And from the dangerous glint in her eyes, she wasn’t in a good mood.

"Listen up!" she barked, her voice cutting through the chatter like a blade. "If you’re below Silver-Rank, stay out of this. I don’t need reckless idiots running into the fight and getting themselves killed."

Some of the lower-ranked adventurers grumbled but quickly shut up when she turned her gaze on them.

Lena nudged Lucas with a knowing smirk. "Your girlfriend is scary."

Lucas shot her a glare. "Not. My. Girlfriend."

The red-haired warrior woman scanned the crowd before her eyes landed on them.

For a moment, her gaze lingered.

Lucas felt a chill run down his spine.

Then, without another word, she turned and walked back into the guild.

Lena leaned in close, whispering. "Dude. She totally notice you."

Lucas exhaled. "That’s exactly what I was afraid of."

Lena chuckled. "Well, now we have a dilemma. Do we take a safe, boring commission and keep pretending to be NPCs? Or do we get involved in whatever the hell that bounty is about?"

Lucas pinched the bridge of his nose. "Why does every choice feel like a death flag?"

Lena grinned. "Welcome to the isekai life, buddy."

Lucas sighed. "...Let’s at least check inside first. See if there’s anything that doesn’t scream ’instant doom.’"

Lena smirked. "You mean, see if your warrior mommy wants to talk to you."

Lucas groaned. "For the love of—just move."

As they stepped into the guild, Lucas had a sinking feeling.

Yeah. His boring NPC life was officially over.

As Lucas and Lena stepped into the guild, the air inside was thick with tension. Conversations hummed all around them—low murmurs between adventurers, the occasional bark of a guild officer giving orders, and the scratching of pens as clerks scribbled reports.

At the reception counter, a familiar figure stood waiting.

Sarah, the guild receptionist, offered them a relieved smile as they approached. "Lucas, Lena, good to see you both. Are you alright?"

Lucas frowned slightly. "Yeah... why wouldn’t we be?"

Sarah’s smile faltered. "Because of the attack, of course. The Primordial Order struck again."

Lucas exchanged a glance with Lena.

"The... what now?"

Sarah blinked. "You don’t know?"

Lucas crossed his arms. "Let’s assume I don’t."

Sarah let out a small sigh, adjusting the papers on her desk. "Alright, I’ll keep it simple. The Primordial Order is a radical group of dangerous fanatics who follow the will of Zareth, the Forgotten God. They believe the world is in stagnation and that only destruction can lead to true rebirth. They show up, cause chaos, and vanish before anyone can wipe them out entirely."

Lucas’s frown deepened. "Sounds like a pain in the ass."

"More than that," Sarah said, her tone darkening. "They’ve been getting bolder lately. Today’s attack wasn’t random—it was targeted. And from what I hear, it’s connected to the bounty that just went up."

Lucas’s stomach twisted. "The high-priority one? The ’high-level threat near Solmara’s border’?"

Sarah nodded. "Exactly. There were reports of strange shadow-like warriors appearing during the attack, cutting down people with unnatural precision. The description matches the combat style of a Primordial Order elite squad."

Lena whistled. "Great. Cultists with murder ninjas. That’s exactly what this world needed."

Sarah gave a tired nod. "The Order is relentless, but this is different. This time, they aren’t just striking at random targets. They’re searching for something—or someone."

Lucas narrowed his eyes. "And the red-haired warrior outside? She looked... involved."

Sarah hesitated. "She’s already volunteered to join the counterattack team. If the Order is making moves, the guild can’t afford to sit back. We need every capable fighter we can get."

Lucas exhaled slowly.

That meant if he and Lena took any job beyond the simplest commissions, they’d inevitably get dragged into this mess.

Lena nudged him. "So, what’s the move, fearless leader?"

Lucas ran a hand through his hair. "We take a commission. A safe one. Something far away from this lunatic cult."

Sarah gave a small, knowing smile. "You can try. But with how things are going, staying out of it might not be an option."

Lucas groaned. "Of course it isn’t."

Lena smirked. "Welcome to the plot, buddy."

Lucas shot her a glare before turning back to Sarah. "Fine. Show us the commissions. Preferably ones that don’t involve getting stabbed by Primordial Order member or shadow soldiers."

Sarah nodded and pulled out a stack of available quests.

But Lucas couldn’t shake the feeling that no matter what they picked, trouble was already on its way.

Lucas rubbed his temples, exhaling slowly. "My techniques probably won’t cut it against these guys," he muttered under his breath. "They sound like the kind of freaks that need a more... mystical approach. Which, thankfully, isn’t my problem."

He was about to turn away when the sound of hurried footsteps caught his attention.

The doors of the guild swung open, and in walked her—the red-haired warrior woman.

And trailing right behind her, practically bouncing with excitement, was a small girl with bright eyes and an infectious energy.

Lucas immediately recognized her.

Klee.

The same little girl who had been watching when he first tested his Spin Attack and Spin Defense against those lava slimes.

Klee’s eyes lit up the moment she spotted him.

"IT’S HIM!" she squealed, leaping into the air with an excitement that defied all logic. "The guy who used the icy stick magic! The one with the weird sigils I’ve never seen in any book!"

Lucas felt every muscle in his body tense.

Oh no.

The entire guild turned to look.

Lucas sighed deeply, already feeling the headache forming.

Klee was a curious kid, he knew that much. But he hadn’t expected her curiosity to come back and actively ruin his attempts to lay low.

The red-haired woman, who had already been scanning the room, turned toward him with a sharp gaze.

Great.

Lucas had really hoped to avoid drawing her attention again.

And now, thanks to one very excitable child, he was right in the center of it.

The red-haired woman’s gaze locked onto Lucas, sharp and evaluating. Her presence alone was overwhelming—commanding, intense, and radiating an aura of sheer power.

She stepped forward, her heavy boots thudding against the wooden floor of the guild hall. The crowd instinctively parted around her, giving her space. Klee, meanwhile, was still bouncing excitedly beside her, her energy completely at odds with the woman’s imposing presence.

Lucas barely resisted the urge to groan. Here we go.

The warrior woman stopped in front of him, folding her arms.

"You," she said, her voice steady but filled with something close to curiosity. "The child speaks of strange magic. I would know your name."

Lucas hesitated for a moment before sighing. "Lucas."

The woman nodded, as if committing it to memory. Then, she straightened, placing a fist over her chest in a formal gesture.

"I am Siraye Valtara, Hallowed Flame of Solmara and the Blessed Bearer of Solmara’s Fire."

Her words carried a weight that made the guild hall even quieter.

Lucas narrowed his eyes. Siraye Valtara... Hallowed Flame?
