Chapter 27: Chapter 27 - Little Game?

After spending almost an entire day helping Lena move into her new apartment, Lucas finally returned to his own place, dragging his feet.

"Why do I always end up as the mover in scenarios like this..." he grumbled while twisting his apartment key.

However, before the door opened, his eyes caught sight of someone standing in front of the unit next door. The figure had their back to him, busy unlocking the door while holding several shopping bags. What immediately grabbed Lucas’ attention was the black mask covering half of the person’s face.

Long hair tied in a ponytail, a curvy body wrapped in a casual white blouse and jeans—Lucas recognized her instantly.

"Cinthya...?"

The figure turned around quickly. A pair of sharp, beautiful eyes stared back at him from behind the mask, clearly showing surprise.

"Oh... Lucas," she said softly. "You’re home already?"

Lucas nodded, trying to shake off the sudden awkwardness. "Are you... moving in?"

Cinthya gave a small nod, adjusting her mask briefly. "Yeah... looks like we’re neighbors now."

Lucas blinked, making sure he heard correctly. "Next door... this unit right here? You’re living here?"

"Yep. I just finished the paperwork today, so I’m only able to start moving in now," Cinthya replied as she finally managed to unlock her door.

Lucas stood frozen in front of his own door, still processing the information. "Cinthya... my neighbor? Is this some kind of coincidence or... bad luck?"

Seeing Lucas frozen like a statue, Cinthya chuckled softly, her voice slightly muffled by the mask. "You look really shocked. Is this a problem for you?"

Lucas scratched the back of his head, forcing a smile. "No, it’s just... kind of unexpected."

Cinthya gave a small nod, glancing at the shopping bags in her hands. "I need to put these away first. But... maybe we can talk later? Neighbors usually say hi, right?"

Lucas nodded quickly. "Yeah, yeah. Of course. Welcome to... next door, I guess."

Even though her face was partially hidden by the mask, Lucas could see her eyes squint slightly in a smile before she fully pushed open her door and disappeared inside.

Lucas turned the knob of his own door and entered, closing it gently behind him. Once he was alone, he leaned against the door and took a deep breath.

"She’s really my neighbor now... This is going to be a long few days."

Nighttime

After showering and eating a simple dinner, Lucas sat on his couch with damp hair. The TV flickered in front of him, but his mind drifted back to the image of Cinthya in the neighboring unit.

"Why does she always wear that mask? There’s no one else in the building... But still, I knew it was her right away. Weird."

Suddenly, a ding echoed from his doorbell. Lucas turned his head sharply.

"Who would visit this late?"

With mild curiosity, he walked over and opened the door. Standing there was Cinthya, still wearing the same black mask, a thin cream sweater, and casual shorts. Her hair was tied messily, and in her hands was a small plate with several pieces of brownies.

"Hey, I... just wanted to give you this. As a welcome from your new neighbor," she said, extending the plate toward Lucas.

Lucas looked at the brownies, then back at Cinthya’s warm eyes, which still conveyed emotion despite half her face being hidden. He awkwardly accepted the plate.

"Oh, uh... thanks. Did you make these yourself?"

Cinthya gave a small nod. "Yeah. I love baking, so... consider it a greeting gift."

Lucas held back a smile. "Thank you, Cinthya. That’s... really kind of you."

They stood there at the doorway for a few seconds, an awkward silence hanging between them. Lucas felt odd; even though her face was covered, he felt like he could still read Cinthya’s expressions through her eyes.

"Well, I should head back now," Cinthya said finally. "Goodnight, Lucas."

"Goodnight, Cinthya."

The door to the next unit closed gently, and Lucas shut his own door as well. He stared at the plate of brownies in his hands, a small smile forming on his lips.

"Why doesn’t she ever take off that mask? Even when she’s right at the door... Is she uncomfortable? Still, these brownies look delicious."

Lucas walked to the kitchen, set the brownies on the counter, and grabbed a piece. As he took a bite, his eyes widened.

"Oh my god, this is amazing!"

That night, Lucas enjoyed Cinthya’s brownies while one thought continued to bother him: "Why does Cinthya always wear that mask? Is she sick?"

Meanwhile, in the unit next door, Cinthya sat on her sofa, her mask still firmly in place. Her eyes stared blankly at her door before she took a deep breath.

"Lucas... will he start to suspect something?"

---

After enjoying a few more pieces of Cinthya’s brownies, Lucas leaned back on his couch. He opened a familiar system interface. In the bottom right corner, a small spinning gear icon blinked with the words ’10 Spin Token’ displayed below it.

"These tokens are enough to bring me either luck or disaster. But a skill spin? There’s no way it could mess up like the wealth spin. It’s all skills, right? Damn, I should’ve done a skill spin instead of the Ero Spin earlier."

Excited, Lucas commanded the system to start the Skill Spin.

[ Would you like to start a Skill Spin? ]

[ YES ] - [ NO ]

He hovered his finger over the "YES" button, took a deep breath, and was about to press it when—

DING DONG!

The sound of the doorbell rang again.

Lucas frowned and turned his head toward the door.

"Who could it be this late? Don’t tell me it’s Cinthya again..."

He walked over and peeked through the peephole. Instantly, his breath caught.

"Evelyn?"

Standing outside was a woman with long, flowing black hair cascading down her shoulders. She wore a black satin dress that clung perfectly to her body, with a plunging neckline that revealed her flawless porcelain skin. The faint scent of expensive perfume seeped through the door.

Lucas hurriedly opened it, trying to keep his expression calm.

"Evelyn? You... this late? What’s going on?"

Evelyn stepped inside without waiting for an invitation, her high heels clicking softly on the wooden floor. Her sharp eyes met his, and her lips curved into a seductive smile.

"My husband is away on a business trip for the next few days," Evelyn said, her gaze trailing down Lucas from head to toe. "So... I thought I’d make some time for you, Lucas."

Lucas felt his throat go dry. The door closed softly behind them, and Evelyn stepped closer, now only inches away from him.

"You mean... make time for what?" Lucas asked, his voice almost trembling.

Evelyn smirked, her finger tracing along Lucas’ jawline.

"To finish our little game from before, of course."

Lucas swallowed hard. The air in his apartment suddenly felt warmer, the sweet scent of Evelyn’s perfume becoming overwhelming.

With a graceful turn, Evelyn walked toward the living room sofa, her hips swaying confidently. She sat down, crossed her long legs slowly, and smiled seductively.

"Are you just going to stand there, Lucas? Or are we going to play?" Evelyn teased, biting her lower lip.
