Chapter 87: Chapter 87 - Goblins?

Lucas smirked, leaning back against the tree. "Told you."

Lena took another sip of water, her expression unreadable. Then, slowly, she shook her head. "This is insane."

"You’re telling me," Lucas muttered.

Lena wiped her mouth and set the bottle down beside her. "So let me get this straight. You have a game-like system that lets you store items in some kind of magical inventory?"

"Yup."

"And you just... decided to tell me now?"

Lucas sighed. "Would you have believed me earlier?"

Lena glared at him. "Probably not," she admitted. "But that doesn’t mean you should’ve kept it a secret."

Lucas ran a hand through his hair. "Look, I didn’t think it mattered. I just wanted to have some fun. I figured, why not take a little vacation? Explore a new world, see some cool stuff, maybe pick up some souvenirs." He gave her a sheepish grin. "Didn’t exactly plan on dragging you into it."

Lena groaned, rubbing her temples. "Lucas, you absolute moron. You thought hopping into a random portal was a good idea? For a vacation?"

He shrugged. "Hey, people go on cruises. I go to another world. Same thing."

Lena stared at him, mouth slightly open. "It is not the same thing!"

"Okay, sure, minor differences. No WiFi, no running water, a bit more danger..." Lucas waved a hand dismissively. "But think about it! This is like a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. No deadlines, no annoying customers, no stupid office work. Just us, exploring a fantasy world."

Lena groaned again, this time louder. "We’re stuck here for a month, Lucas. A month."

"Yeah, well, that’s a small hiccup."

"A hiccup?!"

Lucas laughed nervously. "Okay, fine. A tiny setback."

Lena buried her face in her hands. "I cannot believe this. My idiot step-brother dragged me into another world because he wanted a vacation."

Lucas crossed his arms. "To be fair, you did touch the portal too."

Lena shot him a look that could kill. "Because you were messing with it!"

"Semantics," Lucas muttered, waving his hand.

Lena groaned. "Unbelievable."

Lucas watched as she took another long sip of water, visibly trying to calm herself down. He could tell she was exhausted—mentally and physically.

After a moment, she exhaled sharply. "Alright. Fine. We’re stuck here. Whatever. But let’s make one thing clear." She jabbed a finger into his chest. "If we run into any more unexpected surprises, I swear, Lucas, I will personally throw you into a monster’s mouth."

Lucas held up his hands in surrender. "Got it. No surprises."

Lena narrowed her eyes but finally leaned back against the tree, too tired to argue any further.

Lucas grinned. "See? It’s not so bad. We’ve got food, water, and a whole world to explore."

Lena shot him a withering glare. "I hate you."

"You love me."

"Shut up."

Lucas chuckled but said nothing more. The sun dipped lower in the sky, casting long shadows across the forest floor.

Somehow, despite everything, he couldn’t help but feel excited.

This was going to be one hell of a vacation.

Lucas swallowed hard, his throat suddenly dry. His eyes traced the beads of sweat trickling down Lena’s temple, sliding over her flushed cheeks and down the curve of her neck. The way her damp shirt clung to her skin left little to the imagination, the faint outline of her bra visible beneath the fabric.

He knew he shouldn’t be staring. She’s your stepsister, for fuck’s sake.

But the way her chest subtly rose and fell with each breath, the slight parting of her lips as she tried to cool herself down—it was impossible to ignore. His face heated up, and he quickly averted his gaze, trying to shake off the intrusive thoughts.

Lena, oblivious to his inner turmoil, ran a hand through her damp hair with an exhausted sigh. "God, it’s so damn hot," she muttered.

Lucas forced a chuckle, hoping she wouldn’t notice the redness in his face. "Yeah, well, welcome to medieval fantasy land. No air conditioning, no cold showers... Just nature and sweat."

Lena groaned. "Kill me now."

Lucas scratched the back of his neck, keeping his eyes trained on the treetops above. "Uh, maybe we should find some water? A stream or something?"

Lena leaned back against the tree, fanning herself with her hand. "Yeah, that’d be nice. I feel disgusting."

Lucas didn’t trust himself to respond. Instead, he turned away, willing himself to focus on anything other than how unfairly attractive she looked right now.

Damn it, Lucas. Get it together.

As they continued walking, Lucas tried to keep his mind occupied—tried desperately not to think about the way Lena’s sweat-dampened clothes clung to her body, the curve of her hips as she moved, or the way her flushed skin practically glowed under the fading sunlight.

But his brain was a traitor.

The moment they stepped deeper into the forest, something about the atmosphere—maybe the thick canopy, the earthy scent of moss and wood, or just the sheer primal nature of their surroundings—sent his thoughts spiraling into dangerous territory. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Imagine this.

A secluded clearing, hidden away from the world. The soft rustling of leaves, the distant hum of night creatures stirring. The cool grass pressing against bare skin, the warmth of a body tangled with his, soft gasps swallowed by the thick summer air—

Lucas nearly choked on his own saliva.

He shook his head violently, trying to dislodge the sinful images that had infiltrated his brain. What the fuck is wrong with me?

But the more he tried to suppress it, the more vivid his imagination became.

Lena, straddling him against a mossy tree trunk, her fingers tangled in his hair, her breath hot against his lips as she—

Stop. Stop. Stop.

Lucas clenched his fists, forcing himself to focus on literally anything else. The dirt beneath his boots. The chirping of crickets. The cool evening breeze that did absolutely nothing to cool down his burning face.

"Lucas?"

He stiffened. "Yeah?"

Lena gave him a side-eye glance. "Why do you look like you just got caught watching porn?"

Lucas coughed violently, waving a hand in front of his face. "What?! I—I don’t—what are you even—"

Lena rolled her eyes. "Whatever. Just don’t start panting like a dog. It’s already gross enough out here."

Lucas wanted to die.

But more than that—he needed help.

Because if his mind kept going down this path, this so-called vacation was about to become very complicated.

The deeper they walked into the forest, the more uneasy Lucas became.

Sylphie had said the human city was a day’s walk away, but they had been trekking for hours now, and there was still no sign of anything remotely resembling civilization. No distant rooftops, no smoke rising from chimneys, not even a dirt road leading somewhere. Just more endless trees, thick undergrowth, and the occasional eerie rustle in the bushes.

Lena wiped sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand. "Are you sure we’re going the right way?"

Lucas exhaled through his nose. "Unless the elf was screwing with us, yeah."

Lena groaned. "Great. Just great."

Lucas couldn’t blame her frustration. His legs were starting to ache too, though thanks to his system, his endurance was leagues above Lena’s. She, on the other hand, was visibly exhausted. Her movements had slowed, her breathing was heavier, and she occasionally stumbled on uneven ground.

"You wanna rest?" Lucas asked.

Lena shook her head. "No. I just want to get there already."

Lucas glanced up at the sky. The sun was dipping lower, casting everything in a hazy golden hue. If they didn’t find shelter soon, they’d be stuck wandering through the wilderness at night.

Not exactly ideal, considering they had no idea what kind of creatures lurked here.

Lucas ran a hand through his hair. "Maybe we should’ve asked for a map or something before we left."

Lena shot him a glare. "Oh, you mean from the friendly elf who told us to get lost? Yeah, that would’ve gone great."

Lucas sighed. "Fair point."

They kept moving, the tension growing thicker with every passing minute. The excitement of being in another world was beginning to wear off, replaced by a gnawing uncertainty.

Were they even on the right path?

And suddenly..

HEEELLLPP.....

A scream—sharp, raw, and filled with terror—ripped through the forest.

Lucas and Lena stopped dead in their tracks.

Another cry followed, more desperate this time, the kind that clawed at the spine and made the air feel heavier.

Lucas felt his stomach twist. Someone was in trouble. And judging by the sound, they didn’t have much time.

Lena shot him a look, her face pale. "We need to check it out."

He didn’t argue. They moved swiftly but silently, weaving through the dense foliage, their breaths shallow, hearts pounding in sync with the woman’s ragged screams.

Then they saw it.

A clearing. Five goblins.

And a woman, barely clothed, fighting against them with every ounce of strength she had left. Her eyes filled with fear as each goblins start showing hard rock green cock.
