Chapter 111: City of God (3)

A structure that was large as any city building appeared on the ground.

“Are you there?” Dohyuk shouted to the hole that was in front, the place that Vampire God Vehume’s followers had breached. Through it, a man made out of metal came out. There was the man named Blass, the one who had withstood the corruption and stayed as last remaining ‘man’ of his world.

“I wasn’t planning on having you locked in there for that long. I was unconscious for a while.”

“…I see.” Blass, who had no facial features, looked around as he spoke. He noticed Dohyuk’s city, the city wall, as well as the tents and fields surrounding it. He also noticed the vast grassland outside of it and the crosses.

“I needed some time to cool off.”

“Good.”

“Then speak.”

As he put his back on the edge of the hole, Blass said, “What is it that you want from me, and what do you wish to achieve?”

“I haven’t said anything yet.”

“I’ll decide after I hear it from you first.”

Dohyuk nodded.

“What I need is a prison.” He continued with a confident voice, “As you see… these people you see are corrupt. And there are about 30 thousand innocent people inside the city.”

“…Thirty… you say?”

The metal man seemed to be impressed.

“I see… you are willing to take the responsibility of keeping them alive so you don’t have to kill them.”

“Well, it’s not only that.”

Dohyuk then turned. There was someone there with a vicious presence that Dohyuk could sense even if it wasn’t aimed at him.

“You’ve gained weight.”

Dohyuk smiled at the boy standing behind him.

“…”

“You look more handsome now.”

It was Kim Sunghyun, the one whose Nature was called ‘Heartdigger’ and he looked very different from 3 weeks ago. It seemed that being well-fed and well-rested for three weeks had brought him back to good health.

“You… promised.”

In his right hand was a sickle that the Bermurans to farm. It seemed like he had been working on a field also as all citizens of the city needed to learn how to fieldwork.

“That you will let me kill him.”

“Yeah.”

“And I promised that I will… pull his heart for you in return. We promised.”

He was shaking with rage. It seemed like he had been waiting for Dohyuk to wake up to give him a chance for his vengeance. That was probably why he ran here while he was working.

“But a prison?”

He clearly heard what Dohyuk said to Blass. He realized that Dohyuk had no intention of killing him.

“You are going to let that assh*le live?”

“Listen kid- hear me…”

“I don’t want to hear it!” the boy shouted with an angry voice.

“You’re just going to say bullsh*t! That assh*le… they are…”

The anger was so much that he couldn’t even go on. With teary eyes, he held back his tears and continued, “…This… is not enough.”

It was more like begging. Sunghyun was a clever boy. He knew it was all up to Dohyuk in the end. No one could stop him, but even then, he couldn’t hold back his anger.

There were people on the farm and the city gate who were watching them to see the outcome of this ordeal. The people were also curious about how Dohyuk would handle these beasts. If Dohyuk decided to let these beasts live, they were certain to be angry also.

“Well, it’s natural right? He wants revenge.”

Yuri walked up to Dohyuk whispered, “Should I take care of him? So he won’t bother you? I can knock him out without getting him hurt…”

“No.” Dohyuk shook his head and walked over to Sunghyun, “Yeah. You are right.”

The voice not only came from Dohyuk’s mouth, but it also came from within the city, just like when Dohyuk used the city to amplify his sound after he fought against Jung Ilgyu.

“I will not kill Jung Ilgyu and his men. I will prepare an underground labyrinth and have them locked up in there. No matter what they did to whom, no lives will die today.”

People began to mumble at those words and Sunghyun grimaced. Before he could speak-

“Does it seem unfair to you?” Dohyuk asked.

“You want them to die rather than locking them up in a prison for the rest of their lives?”

“O-of course…”

“That is because you are weak.”
