Undead Beast Master: Living Solely for My Desires-Chapter 344: Clash of Fragments
For what reason Ragnar had a Fragment in him, Zaroth didn’t know, and truthfully he didn’t care. All he knew was that killing the man before him would yield him a large reward, maybe even make him significantly stronger, and he wasn’t about to miss that chance!
His muscles tensed to their limit, the blood in his veins running wild, trying to deliver enough oxygen to his body as he shot forward faster than an arrow, holding his odachi firmly in his hand, ready to attack.
He didn’t even bother to give Luna a command; she was smart, she knew what she had to do. Her body enlarged, assuming her dragon form as she soared high in the sky, getting ready to deliver a devastating inferno.
Going all out from the very start, Zaroth even summoned Nightshade as she began to materialize behind Ragnar.
A low, menacing chuckle escaped from the dark helmet that obscured Ragnar’s face. "So you are the type to attack with no hesitation? Good! This is how a man ought to be!"
Ready to meet Zaroth’s attack, he took a step forward, his will unyielding as he slashed with his black sword, intercepting the odachi. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
Zaroth’s eyes widened briefly as it seemed the surroundings lost all color, the only one being the arc Ragnar’s weapon was leaving behind as it passed through the atmosphere.
"You might think that your sword is special, but so is mine!" As soon as his declaration left his mouth, the two swords clashed.
Out of the sheer weight of the impact, the ground below the two men’s feet cracked into hundreds of pieces like a spiderweb, both of them staggered back.
Zaroth’s jaw was clenched; just from a single impact, he was able to feel the power his enemy possessed. His bones ached under the pressure as his palms started to hurt.
But the feeling of inferiority didn’t last. His mind, sensing the fight ahead, released a flood of adrenaline. His muscles tensed tighter. His vision sharpened like an owl’s. His instincts locked in. He was in overdrive — at his peak — and nothing would stop him!
With no trace of hesitation, he shot forward once more at the enemy, ready to attack.
Ragnar was momentarily surprised. It had been a very long time since someone had been able to live after using his skill. The only two beings that had survived to tell the tale were the Dullahan and the strange female elf that had somehow found herself into their territory.
"It looks like there is another one added to the list!" Ragnar mused, about to meet Zaroth’s attack once more.
The next second, he was startled, feeling a weight pressing on his body.
It was Nightshade, having been summoned behind him. He didn’t have a clue the panther was there until she pounced on his back, her claws trying to tear him apart while her jaw had tried to close on his neck.
Unlucky for her, the armor Ragnar wore was extraordinary — it wasn’t going to let go, even from the might of an Epic beast!
"This one might just get through," he muttered, his vision stopping on the flames that were raining down from the sky, ready to burn him to a crisp.
With a silent curse, he hit the panther with his elbow, making the beast let go, and slashed with his attack, forcing the world to lose color once more, managing to split the attack of Luna in two.
"Got you," that meant he was left open for Zaroth to attack. He, capitalizing on the situation, swung diagonally, aiming to injure his opponent.
"You can’t get past my armor!" Ragnar declared, raising his left arm, stopping Zaroth’s attack.
A mischievous grin appeared on his face behind his demonic mask as he brought his face close.
"I am not nearly done," he mused, opening his mouth wide,
ROOOAAAAAARRR
Ragnar’s senses dulled for a fraction of a second due to Zaroth’s howl.
’This brat, it seems he has more tricks up his sleeve!’ Ragnar thought, yet rather than despair, he only felt happiness.
"Good! Ghost, you will be the thing that pushes me forward!" he declared as shadows appeared below Zaroth’s feet, and hands began to come out, slowing his movements.
Zaroth’s life flashed before his eyes as he watched his opponent’s sword about to reach his head.
"…?!" Ragnar was left speechless as a spider the size of a horse appeared before the two men, managing to stop the attack.
Zaroth didn’t want to summon his other beast, as they felt too weak for this encounter, but it seems if he wanted to win, he had to overwhelm his opponent.
’Did you forget about me?’ Luna mused, already above Ragnar, her jaws about to crush him to bits.
Pushing his body to the limit, he dashed to the side, not letting the wolves that had appeared around him slow him down.
"Fireball!" Zaroth let out a ranged attack, not caring about conserving his mana in the slightest.
"Ugh!" Ragnar couldn’t help but grunt as the fireball slammed into his chest. The armor might have stopped the worst of the damage, but he still felt the impact.
This wasn’t an ordinary fireball—it had been reinforced with Zaroth’s new skill, Firecontrol, making it stronger and hotter!
Silverfang, having been summoned, appeared beside his master’s enemy and let out a howl that rivaled Zaroth’s own. He knew his jaws wouldn’t injure the man—but his howl would.
Hellwaver, not as calculating as the wolf, charged recklessly, attempting to pierce Ragnar with its devastating bite.
The four unnamed wolves attacked from all sides, trying to steal Ragnar’s attention, forcing him to stay on the move.
Nightshade lurked nearby, hidden in shadow, ready to strike the moment an opening appeared.
Meanwhile, Luna and Zaroth—far stronger than the others—weren’t looking for openings. They were going to create them.
Luna’s giant claws tore through buildings, ground, and even the very air itself, forcing Ragnar to dodge if he wanted to escape with his life.
Zaroth’s odachi was a deadly creation, and combined with his raw strength, it posed a real threat. Sooner or later, he would either manage to break Ragnar’s armor—or find a small gap, land a wound, and finish him for good.
It had been some time since all his beasts were fighting alongside him, using everything they had, and the difference between before and now was apparent.
The beasts moved with precise instinct, knowing where their master wanted them to go, while Zaroth himself had reached new heights with his sword fighting, using the style Eldros had taught him to its full potential.
Their battle began to devastate buildings left and right as the two men bearing Fragments in their souls fought with everything they had.
Meanwhile, David and Rynor were staring at one another. They wanted to look at the fight that was happening, but they knew it would be bad if they lost sight of the men before them.
"Ah, Your Highness!" David was the first one to speak, his tone laced with mockery. "What an honor, after you ran away last time, to come crawling back with reinforcements to face me! Unfortunately for you, I too have brought a friend."
Rynor’s eyes didn’t display any kind of emotion. They simply stared at David as they mirrored what they were locking.
"I didn’t run because I was afraid of you. Let me show you what happens when I get serious," the false prince declared as he was already upon the Abyss user.
It was time for round two!
