Chapter 551: Glacial

Ada trailed behind Morgana who marched in a specific direction before knocking then going through a door that stood in her path.

A dormitory hid behind that gate. Clearly meant to shelter the maids at night.

"There they are! Worry not Mary, you will feel better very soon!" the maid that stood next to Allegra’s reclined figure clutched at her hand as though it was dear life, not knowing it wasn’t truly the real Mary laying there on that bed.

"What seems to be the problem? I am afraid the information that was shared with me on the matter was quite vague," Morgana walked forward.

"Well," the same maid that spoke before did so again, "It happened last night. We were walking through the hallways in order to reach the r-,"

"Aleah!" an older woman, also dressed as a maid, interrupted the so-called Alleah, "Take a deep breath and speak to the head nurse properly. Don’t waste her time with unnecessary noise. How else is she supposed to do her job?"

Aleah’s figure still trembled, but her muscles strained under her skin, null doubt in an attempt at gathering herself, "Yes, madame! My apologies, please," she bowed.

"If I may," Morgana interjected, "Since Mary is conscious at the moment, it’d be best that she speaks for herself," seeing the looks that the two other maids gave, Morgana quickly piped up, "That’ll give me better information and a chance to assess her condition as well as state. Now, would you please allow us some privacy?"

"Understood," the older maid bowed and started making her way towards the exit.

Aleah seemed in need of more convincing, probably having a stronger attachment to the actual Mary woman Allegra was masquerading as.

Although, after some hesitation and urging from the older maid, she too left the dormitory.

"Was it wise to speak to them that way?" Ada neared Allegra’s bed.

"Even though unofficially, nurses do hold a semblance of power over the maids. It isn’t out of character for them to make requests or order them around," Morgana reassured her before turning to Allegra, "But do speak fast please as we do not have much time,"

Allegra coughed a few times before talking, "It was Lauden... He heard my voice yesterday night and came after me. He recognized me immediately,"

"Oh Lord!" Ada stifled her wailing, "He’s uncovered the ploy! What are we to do?"

"No, I believe we are safe for now," Allegra shook her head.

"How can you be sure of it?" Morgana towered over her figure.

"The only reason I am still alive was because he was poisoned... Or at least, it seemed like it. While choking the life out of me, blood began gushing out of his mouth and...,"

"And?" when Allegra took too long to speak, Ada gave her a verbal nudge.

"Before he fell unconscious, he told me something. He said exactly this; the southeastern side, underground," the vampiress furrowed her eyebrows.

"I see," Morgana looked around pensively, "He can only be speaking of the dungeons. He must’ve figured out we were here to deliver Silas and Arabella’s family. At least this will narrow our area of search,"

"There is no way for us to confirm his words without checking. It could be a trap though," Allegra coughed some more.

Ada settled on the side of the bed, "Still, we should inform Edgar and the Alpha of this. They will be better equipped and have better access to the dungeons. Has Floriel returned yet? We need her to relay the information,"

The look on Morgana did not soothe the young woman one bit, "I sent her over to the boys in order to transfer the potions for their new appearances, but she has not returned yet. As far as I know, she is still in her bird form,"

Their voices went mute after that, each consulting with their own thoughts. Only their breathing broke the heavy silence in that vast room.

That was until Allegra spoke again, "What of your investigation about the king’s condition? Have you reached anything solid yet?"

Morgana’s head started shaking and along followed Ada’s, "Nothing solid, but the rumors were true. There is truly no illness known to man that matches this one yet,"

"In that regard, I am willing to wager he was poisoned," Ada blurted, eyes on the floor.

"I second that thought, but it is too early to speak with certainty. Let us not sell the fur while the bear remains alive," Morgana too stared at the floor.

"Not to mention-"

But Ada never got to finish her sentence as the door to the dormitory swung open for a scary looking, older woman to come through.

Her long skirt ended at the ankles, allowing her black boots to peek through. Her height sure made her stand out, but not as much as her... Not so conventional facial features.

Ada immediately recognized her as Zarah. None other than the monstrous hag dragging Arabella through the hallways like a pig.

"I was made aware that a certain maid was on the receiving end of an attack by a vampire," her deep timbre rumbled in Ada’s chest.

"Yes, madame," Allegra coughed when speaking, "I was the one attacked by the vampire,"

"Were you bitten?" her tone was curt, her glare glacial.

"No, madame," Allegra shook her head.

The hag then turned towards Morgana, "Did you inspect her body?"

"Not yet, madame,"

Morgana wasn’t even done talking yet that Zarah’s voice resonated again, "Stand up!" she ordered Allegra.

After exchanging a glance with Ada and Morgana, Allegra pushed the sheets off herself and held on to the bed in order to stand properly.

"Let her stand on her own. She will be just fine," Zarah pierced Ada with her eyes upon noting the way her hands gravitated to support the maid, "What is your name, maid?"

"My name is Mary, madame," Allegra kept her eyes on the floor.

"Strip, Mary!"

Ada fought against her own lungs to stifle the gasp that pushed upwards and merely watched in silent agony as Allegra undressed piece by piece until nothing remained on her body.

Zarah’s first target was Allegra’s neck, then breasts which she fondled without any regard to the woman’s discomfort, "Turn around,"

When Allegra obeyed, another order came, "Bend over and spread your legs,"

Using the bed to support her weight, Allegra bent down and spread her legs for the hag’s pleasure.

Her cold fingers went right for her pussy lips, wrenching a jolt when splitting them apart.

Ada’s hand flew to her mouth to snuff out yet another gasp as her face turned away from the obscenity.

A grunt of satisfaction escaped the hag, "Your cunt seems to have been used far longer before yesterday. So, you’re in the clear. You will understand that we cannot have women that were marked or used by a filthy vampire under our supervision. You may put your clothes back on,"
