Under The Veil of Night-Chapter 713 Monsters
Chapter 713 Monsters
Ferdinand glanced at Kanae. "It seems I have to be more serious in facing the two of you."
Kanae's body tensed up when she heard Ferdinand's words. Even though she could guess that he would treat them seriously, the fighting prowess that he showed so far has been extremely astonishing.
Raising his hand, Kanae felt the ground shake. Her eyes looked at the trees around them as disbelief was written in her face. They were all moving at high speed towards her direction!
Kanae rolled on the ground as the trees blasted the door behind her. She could feel the chill as she thought if the trees hit her. It was no wonder that telekinesis power has always been avoided. The sheer strength that Ferdinand showed her was the biggest proof why many people were afraid of them.
"You won't be able to run," Ferdinand moved his hand again. From the corner of his eyes, he saw Kevin charged his way, he paid no heed. The barrier was still surrounding him as he focused his attention to heal his wounds.
Slash! Slash! Slash!
Kevin slashed the barrier numerous times. He could see that the barrier was recovering at the same speed as his strike.
'No, I can't let him succeed.'
He moved his hand faster and with more force behind it. Slamming his hand and sword against the barrier, it finally broke. He shifted his pivot feet as he stepped forward and slashed against Ferdinand, successfully wounding the man.
Ferdinand raised his blade and blocked Kevin's next attack as he frowned. The barrier should be able to stop every single attack from Kevin, but the brat's power was far higher than the endurance of his barrier.
Bang! Clang! Clang!
"You're not bad, brat," Ferdinand parried Kevin's attack with difficulties. Even though he should be able to do them well, the power behind Kevin's attack grew as time passed. It was as if Kevin was growing while he was fighting.
"You too, Old Man."
Ferdinand snorted and raised his hand again. The trees surrounding them moved at higher speed towards Kanae.
Kevin's face changed greatly, but he knew that he wouldn't be able to help Kanae. The girl's speed was much faster than him along with her reaction speed. The only thing he could do was attack Ferdinand relentlessly to avoid him focusing his attention solely on Kanae.
Kanae dashed to avoid the trees again. She found out that even if she cut them off, Ferdinand could control each part. It became much harder for her to run away with him controlling so many of them at once.
'What should I do?'
Rolling on the ground, Kanae stepped backward a few times. From the corner of her eyes, she could see the two of them fighting in close range. Gritting her teeth, she changed direction towards the two of them.
"Move away, Kevin!"
Kevin jumped back as Kanae attacked in Ferdinand's direction. Behind her, numerous trees were following after her movement closely. Right after she attacked Ferdinand, she turned her body over midair to the other side of Ferdinand and ran again.
Turning her body over, she saw that Ferdinand had stopped the trees right before they hit him. He glanced at Kanae with mockery.
"I can control them all very well, Brat. Your plan is useless."
Kanae gritted her teeth and readied her small sword again. She was planning on using the trees to hit Ferdinand because it would be hard for him to control the trees. Unfortunately, her plan failed miserably as Ferdinand was able to control each of them perfectly.
"Go," Ferdinand pointed at Kanae as the trees moved again.
Using her sword, Kanae deflected some smaller woods that she had cut from the trees. As for the bigger ones, she skillfully evaded them.
Clang!
"Sudden attack is impolite, Clan Head Kevin," Ferdinand remarked coldly.
Kevin's gazed indifferently. "There's no such rule in battlefield. I'm sure you had experienced them by yourself."
"True enough."
The two of them continued their clashes as Kanae sprinted away to evade the woods. She knew that she would exhaust Ferdinand's mental energy if she continued to run, but for how long? Her stamina might run out first before Ferdinand grew tired.
Just as she was thinking about her decision, she noticed that the number of trees increased. Her eyes widened. It seemed that Ferdinand was hell bent on killing her using the trees.
She shifted her direction to the other side, running all the way on the courtyard. Not long after that, she found out that she had run back to the mansion's direction. A tree slammed itself to the wall, blocking the way on her side. Before she could retreat to the back, several other trees already blocked her way while several others were heading her way.
'I have to fend them off!' Kanae raised her sword to the front as she looked at the incoming woods with grim expression.
Bang! Pang! Peng!
Before they could reach her, a faint barrier had blocked them from her. Kanae's eyes lit up. She swung her sword to the wood on her side, creating a path for her as she ran out of the entrapment.
"Cain!" Ferdinand bellowed. He pushed Kevin away and turned to the direction of Kevin's car. In the passenger's seat, Cain's head could be seen. The young man slowly walked out of the car as he looked at Ferdinand.
"Father."
Ferdinand has black lines appearing on his face at the appearance of Cain. Even though he didn't care much about his son, he would never tolerate the young man following after Kevin and went against him.
"Have you forgotten who is the one giving you food every day in the past?"
"I haven't, Father," Cain replied back. His eyes darted around in fear. When Kevin approached him last night, he didn't really want to participate in the battle because he knew that he would have to face his father. Unfortunately, what Kevin told him made him realize that they needed his help.
He was always regarded as someone useless in Ferdinand's hand. Every single day, he was treated as someone replaceable. One mistake would be more than enough to send him away from his position and experienced the massive pain that many people had.
It was not a good feeling.
"Help me out and I'll forgive you, Cain."
"Father, you know that it's not going to happen," Cain disobeyed his father's order. No matter what Ferdinand said to him, he would not follow them anymore. From the day Ferdinand gave him the medicine, he knew that his father wanted nothing more from him than his death.
He was no longer useful for Ferdinand, so there was no need to keep him alive. It was because of this that Cain knew that he didn't have to follow after Ferdinand anymore. He could make the decision for himself.
"You ungrateful kid!" Ferdinand used his entire power and controlled twice as many trees than before. They were all heading to Cain's direction.
At the same time, Kevin and Kanae moved forward to attack Ferdinand. Their harmonious collaboration disrupted his concentration as they fought efficiently. From Kanae, numerous light wounds appeared on his skin while Kevin pushed him back again and again.
By the time the trees reached Cain's barrier, their power had been halved due to the lack of concentration.
Bang!
Ferdinand tried to push the two of them back as he diverted his power to control other things around him. There were several rocks, which he used to chase after Kanae once again.
"Run!" Kevin ordered.
Without answering, Kanae dashed to the other side with numerous items following her from behind. It didn't take long for Kevin to start another barrage of attack to Ferdinand.
Suddenly, they felt the earth shake horribly. The four of them stopped moving as they looked upward. Seeing the massive volume of earth coming towards them, they knew that there must be an avalanche.
Ferdinand narrowed his eyes. There has never been any avalanche in this place. The only reason an avalanche could happen would be someone purposely made them using explosives. Could it be the two of them had found out about this location from a long time ago?
That should be impossible!
"Come over here!" Cain yelled.
Kanae and Kevin made their way to Cain as the young man created a barrier. At the same time, Ferdinand abandoned the trees that he controlled and created a barrier around him.
Right now, the most important thing was their survival!
Within seconds, the avalanche hit their place, sending great pressure that threatened to tear down their body to pieces.
