Unexpected Marriage: She is the Sugar Mommy!-Chapter 300: The Eyes of Desire
Yes.
After all, it is someone else’s family matter.
What can she, an outsider, really do? Besides, Wendy herself is unwilling to resist, so even if they stand up for her, it would be a waste of time.
Thinking of this, Seraphina Sinclair withdrew her thoughts and continued to participate in the upcoming auction.
The auction proceeded enthusiastically, with the host tirelessly narrating from the stage. This auction was indeed conducted vibrantly.
Soon, it was Seraphina Sinclair’s turn to present her auction item.
It was a set of blue and white porcelain.
Indeed not costly, but those who love collecting would naturally buy it.
The starting price was one hundred thousand, with each bid increment of at least ten thousand.
As soon as the host’s words fell, a charming male voice from the first row below said, "Two hundred thousand."
An immediate increase of one hundred thousand, it seems to be someone who doesn’t mind spending money.
Following the sound, Seraphina Sinclair met a pair of eyes buried in desire.
It was Eric Holt.
The other side raised a corner of his lips towards her, seemingly in greeting.
But Seraphina Sinclair felt his smile made her very uncomfortable; his gaze was akin to a leopard watching its prey, a state of determination that made her heart skip a beat.
She couldn’t quite describe the feeling, but it was frightening.
Although this person was smiling, he exuded a deep-seated darkness.
Seraphina Sinclair nodded slightly to him, immediately withdrawing her gaze, refusing to look back.
Feeling her cold fingers, Rosalie Quinn worriedly asked, "What’s wrong, are you not feeling well somewhere?"
"I’m fine." Seraphina Sinclair shook her head, signaling Rosalie not to worry.
"Remember to say if you’re feeling unwell; we don’t have to stay until the end." Rosalie was most concerned about Seraphina’s health, considering it hadn’t been long since her abortion and she was still on herbal medicine while accompanying them outside. It was hard not to care.
Seraphina Sinclair gave Rosalie a reassuring look, "It’s nothing, just suddenly felt a bit cold."
Just as she finished speaking, Rosalie’s mink shawl was draped over her shoulders, "Who told you to dress so lightly and come out? Although it’s summer now, the air conditioning inside isn’t good for your health; maybe we should leave early. There’ll be plenty of chances to expand your connections later."
"Let’s wait a bit longer." Seraphina felt an inner warmth from Rosalie’s concern. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Rosalie couldn’t argue with her and could only agree.
She knew Seraphina’s temperament; this girl was always like this, once she decided on something, nothing could change her mind.
If she didn’t want to leave, words were useless.
Rosalie could only quietly instruct Simon Finch, "If Seraphina feels unwell, don’t worry about me, take her home or to the hospital first."
"Alright." Simon Finch always regarded Rosalie’s words as sacred, naturally, whatever his wife said was what he’d do.
The auction continued, with Seraphina Sinclair’s set of blue and white porcelain ultimately auctioned off to Eric Holt for a high price of eight million.
Originally costing just over three million, it was sold for eight million in an instant.
Seraphina Sinclair suspected that Eric Holt might have something wrong in his head, but she knew well that, like Shannon Warren, Eric’s eyes were filled with ambition and he definitely wasn’t a fool.
Would he willingly use such a high price to buy her porcelain, with ulterior motives?
She heard whispers around her again, making Seraphina Sinclair frown.
"This newly returned Fairchild Family’s young master might be interested in Seraphina Sinclair, spending lavishly perhaps just to win her a smile?"
"I don’t think so, everyone knows Seraphina Sinclair and Desmond Fairchild were once a couple; if he liked his elder brother’s ex-wife, wouldn’t that be incest?"
"Now Seraphina and Desmond have broken up, a man and a woman have no relation. Moreover, no one said a younger brother can’t like his elder brother’s ex-girlfriend, right?"
Opinions varied among everyone, but the general consensus was that Eric Holt was interested in Seraphina Sinclair; otherwise, he wouldn’t have spent so much to auction a set of ceramics.
Seraphina Sinclair helplessly touched her forehead; she wished she’d chosen not to publicly auction her porcelain when registering, something she initially thought trivial now seemed to be a big headache.
If Eric Holt was indeed interested as everyone said, Seraphina Sinclair could even confirm he was here for her.
As for whether he genuinely liked her or wanted to use her, it was hard to say.
Fiona Dunn looked at Seraphina Sinclair with a hint of jealousy, her little eyes carrying a trace of admiration, "Why do you always attract attention wherever you go? Carter Grant proactively befriended you, and Eric Holt is showing interest too; you have great connections."
"Being targeted by them isn’t necessarily a good thing." Skylark suddenly spoke, having been silent all along.
Seraphina Sinclair nodded in agreement, "Indeed, they’re the same type of people. Engaging emotionally with those who prioritize interests will only lead to quicker destruction."
Fiona Dunn half-understood, "So neither of them is a good person?"
"There’s no absolute bad person in the world, nor an absolute good person, it’s just different positions." Seraphina patted Fiona’s head, this girl was quite clever in matters of mischief but couldn’t see clearly on these aspects.
Yet, it also showed she was well protected, not exposed to the darker sides of society; if possible, Seraphina hoped she could remain simple-minded like now.
"Then I understand, seems these two have different positions than us, and since differing views may lead to conflict, it’s better not to associate." Fiona Dunn wasn’t stupid, just unfamiliar with the dark side of business, hence always being so naive.
Though her remarks weren’t without reason, Seraphina Sinclair and Rosalie couldn’t help but praise her, "Well said, it’s better not to interact with people with different positions; negotiating with a tiger is too risky."
Unless absolutely necessary, no one wants to take such risks.
"When will we go back, it’s so boring." Fiona Dunn yawned, not quite used to such an environment; too dull, meaningless.
"Sleepy?" Seraphina Sinclair smiled.
Fiona Dunn nodded, "Too dull, neither clubbing nor drinking, if I’d known it was this boring, I wouldn’t have come."
"It should end soon, once it does, I’ll take you for some delicious food." Noting when it started, Seraphina Sinclair cared for Fiona more and more, even Jude Sinclair was sometimes jealous of her special affection for Fiona.
Rosalie, watching their interaction, couldn’t help but laugh, "I feel like your relationship has improved a lot? Weren’t you always at odds before?"
Fiona Dunn embarrassedly retorted, "None of your business."
Seraphina Sinclair just smiled silently.
Since Desmond Fairchild abandoned her, Fiona Dunn seemed to stop deliberately opposing her. Then, due to joining forces against Nina Kerr and various happenings later on, Fiona Dunn’s compassion for Seraphina grew.
Upon finding out she was forced into abortion, she couldn’t bear to further oppose Seraphina Sinclair.
Feeling that Seraphina was already quite pitiful, pursuing those actions would only bring discontent.
