Unexpected Marriage: She is the Sugar Mommy!-Chapter 334: The Suddenly Appearing Man
Desmond Fairchild had not yet answered, seeming a bit troubled. Seeing an opportunity, Keith Hughes gave Seraphina Sinclair a warm smile: "Junior Seraphina, compared to President Fairchild, I, as a university professor, am perhaps more suited to educating children. How about letting me teach Jude and Pomelo?"
As a university professor, specifically teaching two little kids seems a bit overqualified.
"That won’t be necessary. Jude, he..."
"It’s okay, just teaching two kids won’t take much effort. I can make time every weekend and afternoon." Before Seraphina could finish, Keith interrupted her with a bright smile that was hard to refuse.
Seraphina was about to speak again, but Desmond beat her to it: "My children are naturally my responsibility to teach, no need to trouble others."
"Is President Fairchild really so busy yet still has time to educate children?" Keith feigned disbelief.
Desmond retorted with a forced smile: "No matter how busy, I must find the time to teach my children, as they are mine."
Implying that his children’s affairs are not for outsiders to meddle in. Hopefully, Keith would recognize his place and not seek a sense of presence here.
Keith was smart enough to catch Desmond’s meaning, yet he pretended not to understand, looking awkward.
"Why so hostile, President Fairchild? As a friend, I’m merely trying to offer what little help I can. After all, isn’t it better to entrust the kids to someone familiar than some other teacher?"
Although Seraphina thought Keith had a point, Jude and Pomelo would eventually need a tutor at some point.
Rather than leaving her children with strangers, it’s naturally better for a familiar friend to educate them.
But Keith, being a university professor, acting as their children’s tutor, indeed seems inappropriate.
Moreover, Keith’s feelings for her...
And her relationship with Desmond was not ordinary either, so she could only keep a distance from Keith.
However, whenever the two of them chatted, she couldn’t find a chance to interject.
Every time she tried to speak, she was interrupted by either Desmond or Keith.
Seraphina, sweating nervously, quietly led the two children away.
Are these two men childish or what? Every meeting turns into a quarrel. Can’t they do something productive?
"Mommy, don’t you like them?" Jude, holding a drawing board, seemed confused by Seraphina’s actions.
"When you grow up, you’ll understand these things. For now, just focus on your drawing." Seraphina didn’t want to explain too much to Jude. Though Jude was mature for his age and knew more than most kids, even she hadn’t figured some things out, so she wouldn’t tell Jude.
Pomelo remained as innocent as always: "Aunt Seraphina must think they talk too much, right?"
Seraphina couldn’t help but smile: "Pomelo is right; they do talk too much, so Auntie won’t play with them."
"Then what are we going to do? We’ve already seen the koala bear. Are we going to see other animals?" Pomelo blinked her clear, large eyes, waiting for Seraphina’s decision.
Seraphina’s lips curved slightly: "Whatever Pomelo wants to see, we’ll go see, okay?"
"Auntie is the best." Tate excitedly pointed to a sign for the golden snub-nosed monkey nearby, "Brother, Auntie, let’s go see the golden snub-nosed monkeys."
The three of them were getting ready to go see the golden snub-nosed monkeys when unexpectedly, an uninvited guest blocked their path.
In front of Seraphina stood a scruffy man, his clothes tattered. Although only in his forties, his face was full of wear and tear, looking extremely haggard.
He stretched his arms out to block Seraphina’s way, panting heavily as he said, "Give me the children!"
Hearing the word "children," Seraphina instinctively pulled Jude and Pomelo behind her, watching the man in front of her cautiously: "Who are you?"
"Give me the children now, or don’t blame me for being rude!" The man pulled a small knife from somewhere, ordering Seraphina as he looked around nervously, as if he were fleeing from something.
"Crazy person." Seraphina pulled the children back a few steps, not wanting to get entangled with this man.
To her, this frail man, even armed, was no match for her, so she didn’t take him seriously.
As she prepared to leave with the children, the man quickly moved in front of them, reaching out to grab Pomelo.
Seraphina’s expression changed, and she lifted her leg, kicking the man hard in the stomach. She shouted sternly, "Stay back! If you keep harassing me, I’ll call the police."
The man was caught off guard and landed on the ground from Seraphina’s kick.
"Don’t push me; I just want my child. Please don’t push me, okay? Quickly, give me the children!" The man was frenzied. After climbing up from the ground, he pointed the small knife at Seraphina again, as if he really would harm her if he didn’t get the children today.
Pomelo was already too scared to move, yet Jude, calm and composed, was unconcerned about the situation.
Even if Seraphina couldn’t handle it, what Desmond taught him before would be more than enough to deal with this knife-wielding maniac.
"Pomelo, don’t be afraid. Auntie will protect you." Seraphina felt Pomelo trembling as she clung to her leg, turning to comfort her gently.
"Daddy, it’s, it’s Daddy." Pomelo stuttered, "He’s Daddy."
Her voice was small, so Seraphina didn’t hear clearly: "What is it, Pomelo? What did you say?"
However, Jude, who was about the same height as Pomelo, heard it clearly. He furrowed his brow and said to Seraphina: "Pomelo said he’s Daddy. Mommy, is this man Pomelo’s father?"
"Impossible." Seraphina immediately refuted, "Pomelo’s father can’t be older than thirty, and this man here looks old enough to be her grandfather, let alone her father."
Even if Wyatt Young wasn’t Pomelo’s biological father, the man before her looked forty or fifty. How could he be Pomelo’s dad?
"Pomelo, who is he?" Seraphina looked at Pomelo’s expression and realized she actually recognized this man.
"He, he, he’s Daddy." Pomelo’s voice remained small, but her eyes were filled with fear, as if this man was extremely terrifying.
Before, Pomelo had mentioned her parents more than once, but never with this expression. Why was her reaction so different when she spoke of her father today?
Seraphina couldn’t believe that this man could actually be Pomelo’s father.
Even though she didn’t want to accept it, now that Pomelo called him Daddy, she couldn’t help but believe it.
"Are you Pomelo’s father?" Even if he was Pomelo’s father, Seraphina couldn’t lower her guard.
This man’s mental state was clearly unstable, and she would never hand Pomelo over to him just like that.
