Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 275: Okamoto Daiki
Hearing Gao Zhanchun's words, Shi Yushan and Meng Hao were stunned for a moment before their expressions turned grim.
They had indeed overlooked this point. If Zhang Guodong sent someone to investigate, their ruse would be exposed. Therefore, Shi Yushan's suggestion was completely unworkable.
"Then… we can only do it this way?" Shi Yushan asked, his expression sour. The matter was too significant, and he really didn't want to resort to this.
Meng Hao also stared at Gao Zhanchun with a grim expression. Deep down, he didn't want to do it either.
Seeing their expressions, Gao Zhanchun snorted coldly. "If you have a better idea, I certainly wouldn't be suggesting this!"
At his words, Shi Yushan and Meng Hao's faces grew even uglier, for they had no other options.
"Then... let's do it that way," Shi Yushan said, feeling powerless.
Seeing this, Meng Hao could only nod. If they didn't do this, his son would surely die. And if his son died, he would lose the will to live.
Seeing them nod, Gao Zhanchun spoke again. "Even though we've made our decision, this will still be very difficult to handle. After all, finding someone who can take out Zhang Guodong is no simple task."
"That's right, Brother-in-law. What should we do? We need an infallible plan. The slightest mistake could finish us," Shi Yushan couldn't help but say, as Meng Hao also fixed his gaze on Gao Zhanchun.
"Don't panic. Let me think about it carefully," Gao Zhanchun said with a cool glance. "You two should head back for now. I need some peace and quiet to figure out our next move."
Hearing this, Shi Yushan and Meng Hao were startled. He was asking them to leave at a time like this?
"Go on," Gao Zhanchun said calmly. "I know what I'm doing. We're all in this together, after all. Why would I harm you?"
Hearing this, Shi Yushan and Meng Hao nodded. On second thought, they realized Gao Zhanchun would have no reason to deceive them now.
"Alright, I'll be leaving then," Meng Hao said.
Shi Yushan also bid farewell to Gao Zhanchun and turned to leave.
Watching the two depart, Gao Zhanchun let out a quiet sigh of relief.
Just then, a figure appeared in the room as if materializing from thin air, a truly eerie sight.
"Mr. Gao, your approach is correct. This matter can be left entirely to me," the man said with a smile, speaking fluent Mandarin. Judging by his appearance, he did not seem to be from Hua Country. "Whether I succeed or not, it will appear to have nothing to do with you. How does that sound?"
"Mr. Okamoto, it seems your luck is quite good," Gao Zhanchun said coolly, looking at Okamoto Daisuke. "As long as you take out Zhang Guodong, I will agree to your proposal and cooperate with you. However, I want fifty percent!"
At these words, Okamoto Daisuke's eyes narrowed slightly. "Mr. Gao, don't you think that's an outrageous demand?"
"Of course not. If Mr. Okamoto thinks my price is too high, you're free to cooperate with someone else," Gao Zhanchun stated, full of confidence.
Hearing this, Okamoto Daisuke smiled slightly and extended his hand. "Then, here's to our successful partnership."
A smile touched the corners of Gao Zhanchun's mouth as he rose and shook the offered hand. "Mr. Okamoto, a pleasure working with you." As they spoke, smiles surfaced on both of their faces.
"Well then, Mr. Gao, I'll take my leave. I will bring you good news within the next two days," Okamoto Daisuke said with a smile.
"Excellent. I'll be waiting here for your good news, Mr. Okamoto," Gao Zhanchun replied with a smile of his own.
Okamoto Daisuke nodded and turned to leave.
As he watched Okamoto Daisuke depart, a sinister smile crept onto Gao Zhanchun's face.
In truth, he had planned to cooperate with Okamoto Daisuke from the start. They wanted to transport military armaments and narcotics through Nanjing, for which they needed Gao Zhanchun's permission. In return, Gao Zhanchun stood to gain a majority of the profits.
However, just as he was contemplating whether to demand a lion's share, he learned about the Meng father and son's situation from Shi Yushan. So, Gao Zhanchun hadn't agreed to Okamoto Daisuke's terms, buying himself more time instead. His recent conversation with Shi Yushan and Meng Hao was deliberately staged for Okamoto Daisuke to overhear. His plan was to use the Islanders to deal with Zhang Guodong while also securing a huge cut of the profits for himself. Why wouldn't he take advantage of such a perfect opportunity?
Of course, Shi Yushan and Meng Hao were unaware of this, and Gao Zhanchun had no intention of letting them find out.
After some thought, Gao Zhanchun left the room, took a bath, and returned to his bedroom, where two beautiful women—identical twins, no less—were waiting for him.
At the sight, a lecherous gleam flashed in Gao Zhanchun's eyes as he pounced on them. They were a gift from Okamoto Daisuke, supposedly well-trained and still virgins. How could he possibly not enjoy them to the fullest? 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
A quiet night passed. The next day at dawn, Lin Kuang and the nine members of the Seal Special Team emerged from their rooms and assembled on the drill ground as usual.
At the same time, another nine men stood across from them—the ace special forces of the Nanjing Military Region, the Thunderhawk Special Forces.
The Seals and Thunderhawks were old rivals and already familiar with one another. This year, however, the Thunderhawks had two new faces that Zhang Tianyou and the others didn't recognize. They were clearly new additions.
The Seals and Thunderhawks faced off. The two new members of the Thunderhawk team couldn't hide the disdain in their eyes. They all knew that in clashes between the two teams, the Thunderhawks almost always won; the Seals rarely tasted victory. As such, the two newcomers looked down on the Seals' abilities, though they disguised it well enough that it wasn't too obvious.
Lin Kuang watched silently. He clearly saw the disdain in the newcomers' eyes but said nothing. Sometimes, combat is the best explanation. Words are useless.
At that moment, Yang Wucheng and Zhang Guodong walked over, their expressions somber. Their gazes swept over the members of the Seal Special Team and the Thunderhawk Special Forces. When their eyes passed over Lin Kuang, they noticed he seemed different from the day before, though they couldn't pinpoint exactly what had changed.
"This isn't your first competition, so we'll stick to the old rules," Zhang Guodong announced, his military bearing on full display. "The morning is for individual combat, best of five rounds. The afternoon is a team-based jungle battle with a two-hour time limit. The first team to take out the other's temporary field headquarters is the victor. All clear?"
"Understood!" Lin Kuang and all the others shouted in response.
"Good. Now go get breakfast," Zhang Guodong said after a glance at the time. "Assemble back on the drill ground at eight o'clock!"
"Yes, sir!" the men roared their affirmation in unison before dispersing toward the canteen for breakfast.
The canteen doorway was only about a meter wide. With two or three men trying to pass through at once, friction was inevitable.
