Seeing this, the assassin froze. He was stunned by the terrifying precision of Lin Kuang's marksmanship—it was absolutely frightening.

After all, the six elders of Dark Blood had already fallen at Lin Kuang's hand. Anyone who still dared attempt his assassination was an ace with real skill; who else would have the courage? This particular assassin, a man in his thirties, was also quite notorious in the country. He wasn't a member of Dark Blood, however; he was a lone wolf.

He, too, was tempted by the ten-billion bounty, but he also aimed to take down Lin Kuang. Just imagine the prestige he would earn by killing him. After all, Lin Kuang was the King of the Underworld. Taking him out would certainly cause one's reputation to skyrocket.

Of course, the man was overestimating his own abilities. His skills were nothing compared to Lin Kuang's—the gap between them was too vast to even compare.

"Since you came for money, then you can die for it!"

In an instant, Lin Kuang fired again. Three shots rang out, the bullets forming a triangular pattern as they flew straight toward the assassin.

The man was clearly skilled and reacted quickly, trying to dodge, but he was a fraction of a second too slow. Lin Kuang was simply too fast. Not a single bullet was wasted. One struck the man between the eyebrows, while the other two hit him squarely in the shoulders.

As he watched his opponent fall, Lin Kuang holstered his Desert Eagle.

Although he had eliminated the man, Lin Kuang felt no thrill. After all, this was just small fry. The true masters had yet to appear. If the top-tier assassins made a move, it would spell significant trouble for him. For people like that, money was merely a bonus. What they really wanted was Lin Kuang's life, because killing him would bring them fame, and that was what mattered most.

As he considered this, Lin Kuang's expression grew grim. The troubles ahead are only going to multiply. The man who sold me Nameless even warned that buying it would attract trouble. It seems my life won't be quiet anymore.

But Lin Kuang had no regrets. Some things must be done. Once they're done, they're done. What's the point in dwelling on it?

The priority now is to protect Liu Shilin and the others. It looks like I'll need Zhang Lianmei's help.

With that thought, Lin Kuang drove off. While driving, he dialed Zhang Lianmei's cell phone.

Before long, she answered. "Hello, Mr. Lin. I was just about to contact you," Zhang Lianmei said, her tone grave.

Hearing this, Lin Kuang was taken aback and quickly replied, "What's the matter, Lianmei?"

"There's trouble. According to intelligence from our people, Chen Jiachong's gang will make a move on us tonight. I don't know the exact time yet," Zhang Lianmei said gravely.

"Oh? They're moving tonight? They sure are impatient," Lin Kuang remarked, his gaze turning icy.

"Yes, it seems they want to eliminate the Eagle Sect as quickly as possible and remove us as an obstacle. Mr. Lin, what was it you wanted to see me about?" Zhang Lianmei asked curiously.

"It's nothing. I was originally going to ask you to arrange for some elites to protect my people, but that's not urgent. Let's deal with Chen Jiachong first. After all, I've been wanting to get rid of him for a while now," Lin Kuang said after a moment's thought.

If Lin Kuang wanted to build his own force, he first had to solidify the Eagle Sect's position. That meant Chen's gang had to be eliminated. The fact that Chen Jiachong was already planning to destroy the Eagle Sect only hardened Lin Kuang's resolve to wipe out his gang.

Hearing his words, Zhang Lianmei nodded. "Okay, Mr. Lin. When will you be over?" she asked with anticipation.

"Where are you now?" Lin Kuang asked.

"I'm at the Eagle Company, preparing for a meeting," Zhang Lianmei replied.

"Alright, wait for me at the Eagle Company. I'll be there in twenty minutes," Lin Kuang said.

"Understood, Mr. Lin. I'll wait for you here." With that, Zhang Lianmei hung up.

While driving, Lin Kuang made another call to Liu Shilin, telling her he would be back later. Liu Shilin didn't ask why, just told him to be careful and that they would wait for him at home.

Lin Kuang smiled and agreed, then ended the call. His car suddenly accelerated, hurtling toward the Eagle Company.

In less than twenty minutes, Lin Kuang parked in front of the Eagle Company building, got out, and headed straight inside. Two guards were on duty at the gate. One of them recognized Lin Kuang; after all, he was the one who had stopped him on his first visit, only for Zhang Lianmei to personally come out and greet him. The sight had nearly scared the guard out of his wits, but fortunately, Lin Kuang hadn't held it against him.

"Notify Zhang Lianmei that I've arrived," Lin Kuang said calmly as he reached the gate. He didn't want to barge in and make things difficult for the two security guards.

"Mr. Lin, please come in," the guard said hurriedly. "Miss Zhang gave instructions that you can enter whenever you arrive."

Hearing this, Lin Kuang glanced at him, finding his face vaguely familiar. He then nodded and walked into the building.

Taking the elevator, Lin Kuang went straight to the top floor. As he stepped out, two members of the Eagle Sect were standing there respectfully.

Upon seeing him, one of them said respectfully, "Mr. Lin, please follow me. Big Sister is waiting for you in the conference room."

Lin Kuang nodded, signaling for the man to lead the way, and followed him toward the room.

"Mr. Lin, please enter." At the entrance, the man opened the door and bowed.

"Alright," Lin Kuang nodded and stepped inside.

Over a dozen people were already seated in the room. Most were men, with only three or four women. At the head of the table sat Zhang Lianmei. Seeing Lin Kuang enter, she quickly walked over.

"Mr. Lin, you've arrived," Zhang Lianmei said with a smile, her tone very respectful.

"Lianmei, you don't have to be so formal with me, alright?" Lin Kuang couldn't help but say, seeing her deferential manner.

"Alright, I'll keep that in mind for next time," Zhang Lianmei replied with a slight smile.

Lin Kuang smiled and nodded in response.

At this, Zhang Lianmei turned to the room and announced with a smile, "Brothers, this is Mr. Lin. Say hello."

"Hello, Mr. Lin," the group replied in a respectful chorus.

However, while their voices were respectful, the gazes of all but a few held little genuine deference. It was the first time Lin Kuang had met the Eagle Sect's members, and aside from Guo Delun, he recognized no one.

"Please, don't be so formal. We're all brothers here. Take a seat," Lin Kuang said with a laugh, his gaze sweeping over their faces as he took mental notes.
