Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 339: Rebellion at Home
When Tang Lingwen called out Song Tao's name, Lin Kuang immediately knew what was happening. He was aware that Zhang Guodong had sent Song Tao to surveil Cui Hongyu that morning. Since Song Tao was calling at night, it was clear he had discovered something; otherwise, why would he call at this hour?
With this in mind, Lin Kuang quickly took the phone. "Song Tao, this is Lin Kuang. What did you find?" His tone was urgent. After all, this concerned Zhang Guodong's safety, and possibly much more.
"Hello, Instructor Lin, this is Song Tao," he said in a hurried, low voice. "I've discovered that Cui Hongyu is meeting with a Japanese man. The two of them are talking, but I don't know what they're saying. What should we do? If we move in, we can capture Cui Hongyu immediately. As for the man from the Island Country, he is very strong, and we have no absolute certainty of capturing him."
Hearing this, Lin Kuang's expression shifted, a hint of coldness flashing in his eyes. He had only suspected Cui Hongyu, but he never expected the man to actually be a traitor!
"Hold on, where are you?" Lin Kuang couldn't help but ask.
Song Tao looked around and then told Lin Kuang his location.
"Alright, how far is that from Commander Zhang's home?" Lin Kuang asked after a moment of thought.
"About thirty kilometers," Song Tao replied after a second.
"Good. Wait for me there. Remember to call me if anything happens," Lin Kuang said quickly.
"Yes, Instructor Lin," Song Tao replied respectfully, and the two hung up.
"Auntie, where did Uncle Zhang put his car keys? I need to go out; there's a situation," Lin Kuang said urgently to Tang Lingwen.
"In his pocket, let me look." Seeing Lin Kuang's grave expression, Tang Lingwen realized the urgency and immediately started searching Zhang Guodong's pockets. At that moment, Zhang Guodong was already fast asleep on the table, completely unresponsive. It was no surprise. The aged wine was simply too potent for the average person.
"Found them, here they are," Tang Lingwen said, pulling a set of keys from Zhang Guodong's pocket.
Not hesitating, Lin Kuang snatched the keys from her hand and turned to leave. "Auntie, don't wait up for me. I'm going out and might be back late, or I might not be back at all."
With that, Lin Kuang had already rushed out the door.
"Hey, hey, be careful!" Zhang Zirou couldn't help but call out as she watched him hurry off, though she had no idea if he heard her.
Seeing this, Tang Lingwen looked at her daughter with a sense of helplessness.
After all, this is my own daughter. How could a mother not know what she's thinking? However, I heard from Guodong that Lin Kuang is Yang Wucheng's son-in-law. Otherwise, I would have been very happy to have him as my own. But it seems impossible now. It looks like my daughter's love is destined to be unrequited. I should find some time to have a good talk with her.
At that moment, Lin Kuang was speeding toward the address Song Tao had provided. In his hands, the military jeep seemed to transform into a steel beast, its engine roaring and howling as it raced down the road, which was packed with a river of traffic. He was pushing the vehicle to its absolute limit.
He was anxious. Simply capturing Cui Hongyu wasn't his goal. More importantly, he wanted to catch the man from the Island Country who was meeting with him! Lin Kuang's intuition told him that if he could capture that man, he could completely unravel the threads of this conspiracy.
Lin Kuang covered the thirty kilometers in just eight minutes, arriving at the location Song Tao had mentioned. Following Song Tao's directions, he pulled up behind the other car. Song Tao was already outside, waiting.
"Where are they?" Lin Kuang asked urgently.
"Just at the mouth of the alley up ahead. I have my men keeping an eye on them. They're still talking," Song Tao quickly responded. The arrival of Lin Kuang brought him a sigh of relief. He knew exactly how strong Lin Kuang was; with him here, the mission was guaranteed to succeed.
"Good. Take me there now. We're capturing both of them," Lin Kuang said calmly.
Song Tao nodded, turned, and led the way, with Lin Kuang following close behind. A minute later, Lin Kuang spotted two men—they were from the Thunderhawk Special Forces. Song Tao slowed his pace, and he and Lin Kuang quietly moved up behind the two soldiers, peeking around them to get a look. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
Cui Hongyu and the man from the Island Country were still talking, their voices slightly raised. Cui Hongyu's tone was filled with obvious anger, as if the Japanese man had failed to keep a promise, leading to a small dispute between them.
Rage simmered within Yamamoto Buryo. If Cui Hongyu didn't hold evidence against them, he would have loved to put a bullet in the man's head right then and there. But he didn't dare. If Cui Hongyu were to leak the truth about Okamoto Daiki's assassination, things would get messy. Therefore, Yamamoto Buryo tried his best to control his anger, afraid he might lose control and kill Cui Hongyu.
Cui Hongyu was equally furious. The deal was for twenty million, with ten million paid upfront and the other ten million to be paid upon completion. But now that the job was done, Yamamoto Buryo was refusing to pay the remaining ten million. He claimed that since all his men died on the mission, the final payment was off the table. Naturally, Cui Hongyu refused to accept this. He was only responsible for providing intelligence; how could their deaths be blamed on him? That was why he had been arguing with Yamamoto Buryo for so long; otherwise, they would have been long gone.
"Yamamoto Buryo, listen to me. You have to give me the remaining ten million. Otherwise, I'll leak everything about our dirty deals online right now!" Cui Hongyu threatened viciously. At this point, he was ready for the worst. If he was going down, he was taking them with him.
Hearing Cui Hongyu's threat, Yamamoto Buryo's expression turned exceedingly grim. In the end, however, he nodded. "Very well, Mr. Cui. You dare to threaten the great Yamato race. Very well. I promise you, the money will be in your account first thing tomorrow morning. Now, shouldn't you give me the evidence you possess?"
