Unscented-Chapter 1200 - 1142 People’s Choice
Melissa went back to the ward where her kids were. She watched from afar.
She saw Linda attending to the kids intermittently. She felt pity for her.
That was what Murray should be doing if he was here. But she couldn’t bear it to disturb Linda with their lives.
Linda had her own job and house that she had to take care of. And now that the doctor had told her that she had to stay. Linda shouldn’t be forced to stay too.
"Thank you,Linda" she walked close to her.
"Do not mention. Your kids are like kids to me. Taking care of them is not a burden to me" she smiled in response.
"But you have to take your leave. You shouldn’t be forced to stay. The doctor has told me to stay with the kids" she moaned sadly.
"That’s not a problem. I can stay here with you. You are going to need someone’s assistance" Linda urged her.
"Yes. Mrs Gibson will be here to assist me. You have to take care of your own job and home" she whined. "You should leave" she repeated.
"Even if Mrs Gibson will be here. You need as many hands as you can get" Linda replied slowly.
"See, you don’t have to do it. You don’t owe me anything. You shouldn’t inconvenience yourself for my sake. They are my kids, they are my problems. Mine and their father" Melissa felt bad when she remembered how she had tried and couldn’t reach Murray.
"Do not worry. Okay, I will be here taking Murray’s place" it seemed Linda could see the bad feeling on her face.
"They need their father, for emotional reasons" she sighed.
"I will assist in that. I am good with kids. If I am here, you can take a break. They will be happy with me" Linda assured her.
Melissa would need breaks. She would really need Linda’s presence to keep her company. She just didn’t want her to be disturbed by her kids and her.
"Thank you so much. But just know you are free to leave whenever you want" Melissa said slowly. She was happy that she had her now, at least.
Now, all she would have to worry about was her company. She thought the only person that could fill her position was Murray’s father. She would call him and ask for his assistance. The next dayMurray’s father was trying to get used to the office. After Melissa had told her about the kids. He needed to help her the little way he could.
He had always wanted to help with the company but Murray kept blocking him claiming he didn’t have knowledge about entertainment companies. Despite Murray’s father readiness to learn.
Now Murray was not reachable. And he needed to learn from someone as Murray was not available.
The only option he had was Melissa’s assistant.
He called the secretary and sent for the assistant. The assistant came in not long after.
"Do you know you have to fill me in about the affairs of this company?" his questions was more of a challenge and confrontation.
"I’m sorry, sir. I thought she would have told you a lot that is needed to know" the assistant picked up the cue and apologized immediately.
"So where do I start? Where did she stop?" Murray’s father asked.
"Currently, we just paid a fine to Association of Entertainment Companies" the assistant nodded.
"A fine? For what?" Murray’s father was surprised.
"Yes. I warned her not to release another batch of bad information about Anthony’s company but she refused. The AEC got notified and they fined us" he explained.
"So you advised her against that too? I came here to warn her. I hope the fine is not unbearable" he sighed.
"It is bearable and there are bright sides" he smiled.
"Bright sides?" Murray’s father asked eagerly.
"The Association of Entertainment Companies has made her an esteemed guest in their proposed orientation program. That’s a good shot for our company" he said happily.
"A good one, but not bright enough" Murray’s father wrote off.
"The Anthony’s company has finally collapsed" the assistant seemed happier. "That’s her main goal" he nodded.
"I don’t understand" Murray’s father was confused. "Are you happy that a lot of entertainers will lose their jobs and some investors will lose their funds?" he asked with a straight face.
"No, sir. No one will lose their jobs or funds because she has planned to acquire the company" he revealed.
"Okay, I think this is where I will start. The invitation to orientation programs will be hers because I have no experience in that. And I’m going to need a lot of introductions before I will be known" he buttressed.
"I understand" the assistant nodded.
"But the acquisition should be urgent. The entertainers shouldn’t lose their jobs and we need to act fast to retain the investors. I will like to start that right away" he asserted.
"I will get the necessary documents and everything that is needed to prepare and contact Anthony’s company" the assistant said and wanted to take his leave.
"Wait, I want you to know this is going to be all about you. I am just a figurehead. You understand this business and its terms more than I will in a year’s time" Murray’s father knew he had to let him know that.
"That’s not going to be a problem. I already knew everything that my boss wanted. Whatever I do is just her desire" he replied and went out.
Murray’s father sighed. Though he didn’t know much about the entertainment business but he had been engaging in a lot of merging and acquisition of business. This shouldn’t be much different.
The assistant came back again. He had some documents and files with him. He placed it on the desk in front of Murray’s father.
"According to business protocols, all contracts should be thoroughly read" he joked and put on his eye glasses.
He started reading the documents. Like he expected, there were lots of terminologies that he would ask the assistant for their meaning after he had read through it.
