Chapter 22: I DONโ€™T WANT COFFEE

Someone once told me; โ€˜only those who care about you, can hear you when you are quiet.โ€™ f๐š›e๐—ฒ๐”€e๐š‹๐‘›o๐˜ƒ๐’†๐—น.c๐—ผ๐’Ž

โ€œTrack this number down,โ€ Sol said grumpily. He tossed his phone to his friend, who was sitting in front of two screens of computers.

โ€œHha?โ€ Adrik raised his head and pulled back his earphones from his ears. โ€œWhat do you want me to do with your phone?โ€ he missed the order.

โ€œTrack down that number, I want to know the location of the owner,โ€ he said in a stern voice. Sol heard the soft sob that escaped Liseโ€™s lips before she cut the call.

Adrik rolled his eyes dramatically. โ€œI canโ€™t do that,โ€ he said and tossed back the phone to Sol. โ€œThe organization will know that I used our line for personal matters.โ€ He turned his chair to look at Sol. โ€œWho is this? The girl from your childhood again?โ€

.....

Sol didnโ€™t reply to that question, but his silence was already an answer enough.

Adrik sighed, he stood up and approached Sol. โ€œForget her. You will only put her life in danger. Those people will not spare her life or yours if they think it will endanger the organization.โ€

โ€œI will be the head of this organization,โ€ Sol reminded him, his voice was icy, as he glared at Adrik.

โ€œAh... forgot...โ€ he said simply. โ€œBut, you are not the only candidate Sol. Donโ€™t you forget that.โ€

And after saying that, he left Sol alone in the control room, deep in thought as he replayed the soft sound that came from Lise mentally.

She was crying and he was certain about that...

Sol could feel his blood boil with the possibility she was in danger and now he couldnโ€™t call her again as her phone had been turned off.

โ€œMy nose was frozen,โ€ Blue said. She refused to take another step. โ€œMy legs hurt.โ€ She added.

Chaos started at her for a moment as they let the other people walk past them with giddy girls staring at him in awe.

In the end, Chaos raised his hand and touched Blueโ€™s now red nose. โ€œTrack it.โ€

Blue blinked her eyes and rubbed her nose a few times before she realized that the atmosphere was not as cold as before. Chaos must have done something and whatever it was, it kept her warm.

โ€œItโ€™s not here,โ€ Blue said, after she sniffed the air, looking for the scent that was similar to Chaosโ€™, yet she couldnโ€™t find it. It was true there was a smell of coffee, but it was nothing like that of Chaosโ€™ or Knoxโ€™s. There was something distinguished with their smell for her.

When Chaos heard that, he showed no change of expression as he turned into a dark alley, even the warm afternoon sun couldnโ€™t illuminate that gloomy place. Blue followed behind him, sighing deeply because Chaos didnโ€™t want to stop, while her legs were very tired now.

But, once they were in the dark alley, Chaos touched her. In a wink, the shadowy and murky alley from earlier turned into a garden that stretched out so far with a big white house at the end of the footpath.

Blue looked around her and realized that Chaos had teleported them into a different place yet again.

But this time, the little girl wouldnโ€™t waste her breath by asking โ€˜where they wereโ€™, because she knew it was useless and Chaos would end up ignoring her again. She learned it quite fast.

However this time, something struck her senses and she smelled it. The distinct scent of coffee. A little bit different from Chaosโ€™ or Knoxโ€™s, but this was it.

Therefore, before Chaos could ask her, she pointed her finger toward the house in front of them, the house with a big garden.

โ€œThere,โ€ Blue said. โ€œI smell it from there.โ€

Chaos didnโ€™t seem surprised when Blue found out what they were looking for. โ€œStay close to me,โ€ he said, as he walked toward the house with Blue walking closely beside him, clutching onto his jacket.

When they walked closer, only then Blue could see that it was a small restaurant with a few tables occupied with men. There was no woman there, or children.

Therefore, when they saw a grown up man come inside the restaurant with a little girl, all of their attention turned to them briefly, before they turned around and minded their own business.

Chaos stood there and glanced at Blue, who was trying to pinpoint the source of the scent. โ€œOver here,โ€ she said, tugging Chaosโ€™s jacket to follow her on her left.

Blue stared at the customers there one by one, they were wearing heavy cloaks with fur and the smell of it distracted her slightly.

She stopped twice to make sure the direction that she took was right, before finally stopping in front of the bartender. He was a young man with a black hair and dark blue eyes.

โ€œHow can I help you?โ€ he asked, his voice was pleasant to the ears. He had a dimple on both of his cheeks when he smiled at Blue.

Blue glanced at Chaos and said softly. โ€œIt is him.โ€

โ€œDo you have Cognac?โ€ Chaos asked.

โ€œWe serve alcohol after five, sir,โ€ he replied.

โ€œA cup of coffee for her.โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t drink coffee,โ€ Blue protested, she pursed her lips, but Chaos ignored her.

The man was confused. โ€œShe didnโ€™t want coffee.โ€ He waited for his reaction, but because the man with the little girl didnโ€™t change his order, he just shrugged his shoulders and made a cup of coffee for the sullen little girl.

โ€œTake this and stay there.โ€ Chaos gave the hot cup of coffee to Blue and nodded to one of the corners of the restaurant.

Blue scrunched her nose, but took the cup carefully. โ€œI donโ€™t want coffee,โ€ she grumbled, while walking away.

On the other hand, Chaos put his attention on that man. โ€œCan I talk to you for a moment?โ€
