This was one of the reasons why he sent those warriors away to the east draghar, leaving only those young warriors, who were clueless about this whole situation.

"I can't believe my passive gamma is trying to do all this behind my back." Liam clicked his tongue. "Did he really think that I would not know about this?"

On the other hand, Emily's hands were slightly trembling when she saw the long list of the people's names, who had agreed to support Colton, because they didn't want to bow and join humans in their research and even so help them to destroy their own kind.

Even though there would always be conflict of interest in the pack, it was normal, but to join forces with humans was different. They felt it was degrading.

The older warriors felt that way, as for the younger ones, they didn't go too deep into that kind of moral, since they just learned how to defend their pack.

And so, Liam sent away all the warriors to the east dragher and weakened Colton's plan to overthrow him from his position.

"If I already know about this, don't you think I know more about what you have been planning?" Liam could see how her hands were shaking.

Emily felt her breathing become erratic, she was tempted to ask about the tea that Emma had been bringing to him almost every day. Did he know there was something in his tea?

However, she couldn't ask about that.

"I know that you love Eros, but do you really think that he will choose you over his mate?" Liam smirked at Emily to see how surprised she was. "Yes, I know. He met with his mate, right when you went to the new capital city."

Emily felt her throat become dry when she heard that. How could he know about that, unless…

"Did you plan all of that?" Emily narrowed her eyes at Liam. She was in disbelief as to what to say.

"What do you think?" Liam did not particularly plan that, he merely followed Aaron's order, since he couldn't reject him.

But, to think about that, the devil indeed made a great plan, from sending them away to the new capital city, to sending the warriors to the east draghar to thwart Colton's plan, thus he thought it didn't hurt him to follow Aaron for a while, as long as it benefited him.

After all, Eros, whom he thought could be his great weapon, was a failure. He didn't manage to tame him and now he was eyeing his position. He needed to take damage control for this.

"What… what are you going to do?" Emily could feel her stomach churn with every realization that hit her hard.

Their plan had failed. He knew about it.

This was what Emily was afraid of since the very beginning. She didn't want Eros to make things complicated. She just wanted to keep low, so they could live without any confrontation.

She didn't care about the werewolves joining hands with humans, for her, it was a trivial matter. She failed to understand the sentimental objective behind that, probably because she was not really part of this pack and she was a human as well.

"Eros is not part of this." Emily stood up, the list of names in her hand was crumpled, as she held on it tightly.

"I know. I don't see his name there, do you see it?" Liam smirked and it was hard to tell what actually he was thinking at this point.

"If that is so, what do you want from me?" Emily gritted her teeth, she didn't want to talk with this man because it was so frustrating to guess what he was actually thinking and what his motivation was behind all of this.

"What I want from you is very simple…" Liam said lightly. "I want you to be the new healer."

Emily narrowed her eyes, she had a bad feeling about it. "What do you mean by that?"

"I want you to replace Ariana." She knew too much and she and her mate held such power to move people. Liam was still amazed by how they could make those warriors turn their backs against him.

It was true that Colton kept it low, but his influence was something that you should be concerned about if you were on the opposite side to him.

After all, Colton had served three generations of the alphas and he survived every single one of them. He could have been the alpha himself with the influence that he had over this pack.

Unfortunately for him, he didn't have that capacity, he wasn't suited to lead. Some people were born to be followers and some were born to be leaders, just like Eros.

"I just need your help here and there, it is not something difficult," Liam said lightly, as if Emily would believe that.

"What will happen to Ariana?" If she was going to be the only healer in this pack, what would happen to her?

"Well, we can't have two healers, right?"

"You have been having two healers for years, Alpha and there is no problem with that until now, nor will it or even in the future." Emily stood up, she wanted to keep distance from him because being so close to this man was driving her crazy.

"Yes, but now I don't want it to be that way anymore."

"What if I reject your offer?" Emily put some more distance from him. "Don't you think that I can run out and tell them about all of this?"

"Of course, you can." Liam smiled softly at her, as if he was talking about trivial things. "Do things that you think are right. I know you are a good girl, Emily, you don't want any conflict to arise."

Liam walked closer to her and she took a few steps away from him because she felt intimidated. She glanced at the door, her instinct told her to run away, but she couldn't do that.

"But, do you really think their plan will succeed? Their plan has failed even before they started it. Like I said before, if I managed to gather those traitors' names, what do you think I can do and how much information that I know?"

Emily bit her lip.

"Think about Eros. He does this because he wants to help you, because he thought you would be in danger if I remained as an alpha in this pack, which is bullshit, because I want us, the shifters, to join forces with your kind. In that case, will you help him?"

Emily was silent for a moment, she was trying so hard to think, but she just went numb from all her panic.

"What will happen to her?" Emily meant Ariana.

"Of course, I will let her go. I told you that I only need one healer and now since you have learned so fast from her and your knowledge is on par with her, I think I only need you."

"You are crazy."

"One has to be crazy in order to survive sometimes…"

Knox had been sleeping for more than a week now and he didn't wake up at all and after some time, everything went as usual.

Sebastian and July had never talked about Knox, they acted as if he didn't exist in this house, but now July would sleep with Rhea and Sebastian would sleep alone.

It was not a problem, because he seemed to spend his time more and more in the organization to help Nikolai with something.

There was only one time when July asked him whether he would let Sol know about Knox or not and Sebastian replied that he wouldn't let anyone know about him.

No matter what, Knox was his former boss, even before he knew that he was a supernatural creature, he had been following him for years.

It felt like betraying him if he did that to him right now.

And July took his words at face value, as she didn't ask further and they didn't talk about it anymore.

However, this morning, it was different. July developed a habit of going to his room to wipe his body, something that she secretly enjoyed, since she felt so close to him, as if the six years when they were apart had never happened.

But this morning, when she came to the room with a large bowl of warm water and towel, she found Knox sitting on the edge of the bed, he looked disoriented, staring at the floor with a deep frown on his face.

He woke up…

July's steps faltered, she wanted to run out of the room. Water spilled on the floor from the bowl in her hands and this attracted Knox's attention.

He turned his body and then found July standing at the door, their eyes met and July lowered her head, she didn't want to meet his eyes. She didn't want him to see her. 𝒇𝒓𝓮𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝒐𝓿𝓮𝓵.𝒄𝒐𝙢

"I see you are awake now, I will go and prepare food and drinks for you, you must be hungry." July hurried out of the bedroom and then closed the door behind her.

Her heart was beating so fast and she was glad that Knox didn't make her stay, probably because he didn't have enough energy for that.

Immediately, July went to the kitchen, hiding herself there, but not long after that, Rhea entered the room and found her scary uncle awake.

"Uncle, you are awake!" Rhea said cheerfully. She rushed toward Knox and clung to him.
