Urban LitRPG System-Chapter 114: prox
The person on the counter smiled when she saw Max pointing at the ’Rose Céleste Medallion Necklace’. She had seen Max with lots of ’Lodenfrey’ bags in his hands, so she didn’t dare doubt his unusual street look.
"Sir, this is the Munich special Rose Céleste Medallion Necklace. It’s equipped with a longer gold chain. One side of the pendant is made of 18k yellow gold, while the other side is 18k white gold—a reversible, timeless piece..."
"Sigh! How much is it?"
Max was shocked to find out that a necklace could be this descriptive. The person on the sales counter wanted to talk more about it, but he cut her long speech with a question. Even he didn’t understand what he was doing in this shop and asking for the necklace Blanka wanted.
’Am I falling for her? No. It will help me with the system mission. Yes!!
"Sir, let me show you the pendant first before we talk about the price."
"Just tell me the price first."
"€7,100. Usual pieces are sold at 6,500€, but this one has a 20mm motif diameter."
’I knew it. Her mother said ’NO’ because it was very expensive. System, show me the side missions.
[Side Mission: Purchase a wardrobe of your choice worth at least €10,000.]
[New Side Mission: Get a nice motorbike]
’Waste—I mean purchase at least €10,000 worth? Well then, I need to get an ’S’ on passing grade on it. Accessory should be wardrobe, right? It’s also my choice.
"S..Sir? Do you want to sit in a room and check the pendant out?"
"No, is the price fixed?"
"Yes, we at Dior always provide our customers with a perfect product at a reasonable price."
’Reasonable my ass. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"I’ll take two of them. Pack them immediately, and I’ll pay with card."
’If this side mission doesn’t count this purchase, it won’t be a waste, because—System, show me the current legal balance and how much I need to use to level up the card.
[Current Legal Balance: 339,503.01 €] [Level up the card by using 2,953,543.01 €]
KA-CHING!!
"Thank you for placing your trust in us. We’ve put all the papers inside each box for your convenience."
Max didn’t even bother to reply. He took the two small but long necklace boxes into his pocket, then gave the big shopping bag back to the smiling sales rep, then straight up left, because the girls might think he’s pooping, which is kind of embarrassing.
Reaching the car, he naturally entered it. Both sisters giggled but didn’t ask any questions, which made Max glad. The car started once again. This time, their destination was a place where Max would get some casual clothes and shoes.
As the moonlight disappeared on the streets of Kaufinger because it was so bright, Max exited the car. This area looked somewhat normal to him. People were not wearing exaggeratedly high-end clothes.
With Danica leading the way inside, Max purchased six T-shirts, two pairs each of jeans and chinos, rugged military boots, dress shoes to accompany two Zegna designer suits, and some dress shirts to ensure he would look fresh for any formal occasion. To round out his wardrobe, he added two gym sets for his new morning jog routine, ten pairs of socks, a backpack, both running and sports shoes, a pair of premium sneakers, two casual jackets for outings, and a leather belt, leaving only his underwear left to buy.
"Wow, Maxi, you’re looking very handsome in this green suit and white shirt."
[Rare image of Max being shy and Blanka looking at him.img]
’€10,000 worth of shopping bags, ugh.
Max was overwhelmed with the sheer amount of shopping bags in his hands. He never imagined being burdened by his own wealth. Although he was struggling to walk, there was a smile on his face—a rare smile. Blanka walked beside him, grabbing the bag he would drop.
’She’s becoming very attached to Max. Sigh! I hope Max likes her as well; otherwise, my little sister will be in a world of pain.
Danica walked two steps behind. She was giving room to Blanka and Max to grow a little bond. She’s usually very busy, and a responsible friend like Max, who has his own apartment now, can keep her company.
"Do you know any nice restaurant nearby? Let me treat you guys to dinner."
Placing the shopping bags inside the car, Max seated himself with lots of difficulty. If Blanka didn’t take some bags on her lap, he would have had a hard time even entering the car.
"Well, not many places should be open now. It’s late for dinner. Sit tight, I’ll drop you at your home. Are you done with your shopping?"
Danica smiled and wanted to save some money for Max. Dinner in Munich is costly. Although he has spent thousands today, she can’t just ask for dinner from her little sister’s friend.
"Y..yeah, I am done with shopping."
[Updated]
[Side Mission: Purchase a wardrobe of your choice worth at least €10,000.] [Passed]
[Passing Grade: B+]
[Reward: Length is a journey. Thickness is a destination. (Passive)]
[Press here to get the rewards]
’What the fuck? What kind of reward is this?
Max was shocked to see the reward, which was very weird and specifically named. He was not sure what kind of reward this was. It was neither a skill nor an item; it was a passive thing.
’ I’ll check it out later. Close it.
As he was busy looking at the system pop-up, the car left the shopping district and entered an area with more restaurants and food places. When Max finally looked up, his eyes caught a restaurant billboard called ’Les Deux’. It looked very much like what rich people would call classy.
"How about tomorrow we eat there? I didn’t have a family to throw a party for getting into LMU. How about you two? You’re my first friends here in Munich, so would you come?"
"Wow, that restaurant looks very cool. I will surely come, Maxi."
"T...That’s a nice restaurant you’ve chosen."
Danica wanted to be the adult but realized Max was probably more mature than she imagined, so she just smiled and nodded her head.
’Well, now all that’s left is getting this reward and using my Palladium Card.
"Alright, thank you for today."
Max stood outside his apartment building, wearing a new coat he bought today. The girls were tired, and it was late in the night. They had even helped him out with carrying the shopping bags into his apartment.
"Let me buy you guys pizza for dinner. I feel bad about keeping you this late."
"No, thank you. I’ll feed her what I make for dinner."
"Maxi!! I’ll see you tomorrow night at that restaurant. Wear a formal suit, I’ll wear my new dress."
’She’s never out of energy, like a little baby.
"Sure, let’s do that."
Max looked at the back of the car with a smile. It drove without making any noise, just like his current neighborhood. Max looked up and saw a little child smiling and waving at him from the opposite apartment building. Technically, they were neighbors.
’Look how happy she is, children should be like this all around the world.
Max waved at her, then smiled as big as he could to appear friendly. When his stomach growled with hunger, he walked down the road. His new goal was to get some bread and some fruits from the grocery store nearby.
’I might pick some utensils as well, like plates and spoons.
The night was cold, with no people in his sight. The residential area where he lived now was a very quiet place, but the road ahead was very different. It was a big road with tons of clubs, fast-food stores, everything you need.
’I live in a library, and this road is a gymnasium full of students.
Colorful speeding cars, drunk half-naked women vomiting on the side, muscled men with tattoos—Max could see every kind of creature this city had to offer. From rich to poor, everyone was present in this gorgeous city.
CLING
Max entered the grocery store he saw earlier today when he went out to buy pizza. It was huge compared to his hometown, but in this city it was just one of the medium-sized ones. He directly went for the big-sized bread, then oats for breakfast, took several bottles of milk, some packets of cheese, and pasta.
’I want to become a bit healthier. I am very skinny.
When he went to the fruit section, he saw that there was a woman shopping beside him. He would have ignored her, but there was a colorful sticker behind her which said ’Baby Bo’. Usually, he would ignore this kind of thing, but today he had received a lot of kindness, so returning a little wouldn’t be bad.
"Excuse me, you’ve got something stuck on your back."
"Oh? Where is it?"
"O... on your back."
She turned halfway, twisting her upper body to look, then laughed softly when she failed. As she moved, her glasses slid down the bridge of her nose.
’She’s maybe a model or something. She also has a weird accent.
"Can you grab it for me? I can’t reach it."
Up close, Max realized she was very beautiful and older than him—late twenties, maybe early thirties. The low-cut dress she wore clung to her frame without trying too hard, the fabric moving with her body as if it belonged there. She didn’t look out of place. If anything, the fluorescent grocery lights felt unworthy of her.
As she leaned slightly forward, the motion drew his eyes toward her massive chest despite himself. The curve of her chest pressed gently against the fabric, full and unapologetic. Max felt heat rise up his spine. This was sudden and dangerous for him.
’Focus, Max.
He stepped in just long enough to peel the sticker away with two fingers. His knuckles brushed her warm skin for the briefest second. It felt soft, alive. He withdrew immediately.
