Chapter 804: Chapter 804: Wu Yue’s Surprised Expression

Xiang Yu drove himself to the logistics hub, which had grown significantly, bustling with activity and full of life.

The place had expanded, and navigating it made Xiang Yu feel a bit lost. However, Lan Tingting’s office remained unchanged, still located in the small two-story building.

As Xiang Yu approached her office, security guards tried to stop him. Fortunately, someone inside recognized him, and after some persuasion, he was allowed to pass.

Arriving at Lan Tingting’s office, Xiang Yu knocked on the door a few times. From inside came a voice saying, "Come in."

Lan Tingting stood by the bed holding a water cup, lost in thought. When she turned to look, she was startled, and the cup almost slipped out of her hand.

Hurriedly setting the cup down, she ran over, wrapped her arms around Xiang Yu’s neck, and buried herself in his embrace.

Lan Tingting didn’t say a word; she simply hugged Xiang Yu tightly.

Xiang Yu gently held her in his arms and stroked her long hair. He knew the girl in his embrace was a kind-hearted one, while he was nothing but a scoundrel.

Logically speaking, she shouldn’t have feelings for him, but matters of the heart don’t abide by reason.

Lan Tingting held onto Xiang Yu for about five minutes before letting go. Her gaze was full of love as she said, "I knew you’d come see me."

"I hadn’t planned on coming," Xiang Yu replied with a cheerful laugh.

"How dare you!" Lan Tingting playfully punched him in the chest with her small fist.

Xiang Yu exaggeratedly pretended to be hurt, then pulled Lan Tingting to sit down together. Lan Tingting seated herself directly on Xiang Yu’s lap, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"I missed you," Lan Tingting said softly and tenderly.

Xiang Yu wanted to say that he had missed her too, but he held back. He was a rogue, and circumstances tied his hands in many ways.

Since he couldn’t give her happiness, he preferred to keep some distance, to avoid raising her hopes too high.

"You don’t miss me," Lan Tingting said, seeing that Xiang Yu remained silent. She hit him a few times again in mock irritation.

Lan Tingting couldn’t understand why she became so gentle around Xiang Yu. Normally, she carried herself with the stern demeanor of a boss. Yet with Xiang Yu, she was almost a different person.

Lan Tingting sitting on Xiang Yu’s lap inevitably stirred certain thoughts within him; he was human, after all.

Lan Tingting noticed his reaction and teased him coyly, "Have you been messing around with other women while you’re out?"

Xiang Yu merely smiled faintly and didn’t offer a denial.

"I’m leaving this afternoon," Xiang Yu abruptly revealed.

Lan Tingting immediately covered Xiang Yu’s mouth with her hand. She cherished every moment she had with him and wanted their brief time together to be filled with joy.

Seated on the sofa, she leaned on his arm, resting her head on his shoulder, her eyes closed as she savored the moment quietly.

"One day, when we have the chance, let’s go see the ocean together, okay?" Lan Tingting said with a smile.

Xiang Yu nodded slightly. He wanted to take Lan Tingting somewhere to enjoy themselves, but current circumstances didn’t allow for it.

There was still much to be done, not to mention his sensitive status within the underworld. If certain people noticed their relationship, Lan Tingting could end up in great danger.

They dreamed freely together about the future, discussing plans that felt beautiful yet far-off.

But the time was too brief; the morning felt like it passed in an instant. Eventually, Lan Tingting fell asleep in Xiang Yu’s arms, her smile filled with contentment.

Xiang Yu sighed inwardly. When Lan Tingting told him she would wait for him for a lifetime, his heart grew heavy with sorrow. The future was uncertain, and he had no control over fate.

He carefully laid her down on the sofa and fetched a thin blanket to cover her, then slipped out quietly.

Yet even as her lips smiled, tears rolled down Lan Tingting’s cheeks.

When Xiang Yu drove up to Shi Jian’s place, the preparations were already underway.

Tie Zhuzi took a long look at Xiang Yu, shaking his head in puzzlement.

"Brother Yu, how are you still walking so steadily? Shouldn’t your legs be giving out by now?" Tie Zhuzi asked with feigned confusion.

With a swift kick, Xiang Yu sent him scurrying away.

At the mines, Wu Yue drove a rugged vehicle around with Feng Lan, recounting everything that had happened there over the years.

She spoke of how, when she first arrived, some people underestimated her, only for her to kick one man’s private parts in retaliation, thereby asserting her presence.

Eventually, she began building alliances. At the time, her sheer fierceness was her greatest asset. It was unimaginable how hard it must have been for a woman to establish herself in a place like this.

Listening to Wu Yue’s stories, Feng Lan couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of awe. After all, she herself had once started small, fighting her way up.

Though her circumstances back then were far better than those at the mines.

Sitting in the vehicle, Wu Yue felt a wave of sentimentality wash over her, knowing she was about to leave this place she cared so much about.

"Sister Wu Yue, once we take care of things, we’ll come back here," Feng Lan said in an attempt to comfort her, though even she didn’t truly believe her own words.

Who knew what the future held? Returning to this place seemed increasingly unlikely.

Wu Yue only smiled faintly, saying nothing more, as they drove back to the office.

"I wonder who Xiang Yu will bring in to take over this place?" Feng Lan mused aloud.

Wu Yue leaned comfortably on the sofa with an air of confidence and began her analysis. "In this city, there aren’t many people with the strength and influence to take control here. Zhou Zhengming was one possibility, but he’s not around anymore. There’s another person who could potentially do it, but he’s based in the city and doesn’t know Xiang Yu, so it’s unlikely."

"So who could he choose?" Feng Lan asked, intrigued.

Wu Yue shook her head, unable to answer. She didn’t know much about Xiang Yu, though he gave off an air of mystery that she couldn’t quite understand.

As the two of them chatted idly, Xiang Yu and his people arrived in their cars.

"Xiang Yu, you’re back!" Feng Lan exclaimed excitedly.

Wu Yue also greeted Xiang Yu with a smile, though her casual glance toward the group’s rear caused her expression to change instantly.

She didn’t interact much with Shi Jian and had no conflicting interests with him, but she still recognized his face on sight.

She had previously investigated Shi Jian’s background and, upon verifying he wasn’t targeting the mines, had let her guard down.

Now his sudden appearance here, catching her completely off-guard, left her mind momentarily blank. She quickly turned, opening a drawer, and pulled out a handgun, removing the safety.

Even so, Wu Yue didn’t point the gun at Shi Jian; she simply held it defensively.

Shi Jian hadn’t expected such a dramatic reaction and smiled awkwardly, raising his hands. "I mean no harm, don’t be nervous."

Wu Yue stood there, scanning him up and down, then turned her gaze toward Xiang Yu...
