Urban Super Soldier King-Chapter 841: Screams in the Dark
Chapter 841: Chapter 841: Screams in the Dark
Xiang Yu didn’t go to the opera with Tie Zhuzi; instead, he went to Long Wu. The two casually picked a restaurant to eat at.
Long Wu seemed very excited. If she remembered correctly, this was the first time Xiang Yu had asked her out to dinner alone, which left her feeling both thrilled and a bit nervous.
Long Wu drove Xiang Yu to a relatively secluded part of the city, where they could avoid being disturbed by others.
"You’ve changed a lot," Long Wu said with a faint smile while sitting across from Xiang Yu.
"People change; it’s nothing surprising," Xiang Yu replied with a smile. He poured a cup of tea for Long Wu, placed it in front of her, and then gazed blankly out the window.
Long Wu responded with a genuine smile and said, "You really have changed. I can tell by the look in your eyes. Are you longing for a peaceful life now?"
Seeing Xiang Yu still staring out the window in a daze, she continued, "What are you thinking about?"
"I’m thinking, in this freezing weather, how come that pretty girl earlier was dressed so provocatively? Isn’t she just asking for trouble?" Xiang Yu remarked casually.
Long Wu glared at him in irritation. She had planned to connect with him emotionally, but the atmosphere was completely ruined by his comment.
"That part of you hasn’t changed; you’re still the same shameless flirt as always," Long Wu said in mock annoyance.
The two talked about various things. Xiang Yu shared many stories from his days as a student.
Long Wu spoke about the tough times she had while following Long Zaitian in the underworld. As a beautiful woman, her path was inevitably more difficult than most.
She was grateful to have met Xiang Yu. If it weren’t for him, she might not be who she was today—perhaps she’d have died in the streets long ago.
Long Wu’s gaze grew increasingly tender as she looked at Xiang Yu and asked, "What’s your plan for the future? Are you really going to follow this path until the end?"
By "this path," Long Wu referred to the unending darkness of the underworld. She had been through it herself and understood how arduous it could be.
Xiang Yu shook his head. He didn’t know how to answer Long Wu. He wanted to leave this world and live a peaceful life, but he didn’t know how to tell her.
"Let’s take a walk," Long Wu suggested.
Xiang Yu nodded. Having returned to a normal life, he finally realized how blissful simplicity could be.
As they walked along the street, Long Wu grabbed Xiang Yu’s arm. The two of them proceeded slowly in silence.
Since the place was fairly secluded, they didn’t have to worry about being seen.
At that moment, Long Wu felt truly happy. She wished Xiang Yu could stay by her side forever. If he did, she would be willing to give up all worldly riches.
Long Wu pondered this as they walked, eventually resolving to confess her feelings.
Just then, they heard a girl screaming for help from a dark alley nearby.
Judging by the sound, it seemed like she was being assaulted.
"What are you doing? Let me go! Ah, help!" The girl cried out in terror.
"Don’t move! If you move again, I’ll kill you!" A man’s rough voice interrupted.
"Please let me go, I’m just a student. I’ll give you the three hundred yuan I have—take it all, just don’t touch me!" The girl pleaded desperately.
"What? Three hundred? That’s not even enough to hire a prostitute. Keep it for yourself and buy some candy, no—how about I give you a lollipop to suck on right now? But don’t bite down, or I’ll skin you alive."
Long Wu tightened her grip on Xiang Yu’s arm as they stood outside the alley. The darkness was so thick they couldn’t see a thing.
Xiang Yu looked indifferent, as if he hadn’t heard anything.
"Let’s go," Xiang Yu said casually and began to walk ahead, ignoring the sounds coming from the alley.
"Xiang Yu!" Long Wu shouted angrily at his retreating figure.
In the past, Xiang Yu would have gone in to check out the commotion, saving the girl in the process.
But now, he seemed colder, more detached.
"This isn’t our business. The police will take care of it," Xiang Yu replied.
Long Wu gritted her teeth and rushed into the alley on her own. It was so dark that she couldn’t see anything at first.
"Stop what you’re doing!" Long Wu shouted as she stepped further inside.
"Help! Someone please save me!" The girl called out upon hearing someone arrive.
"This has nothing to do with you. Stay out of it!" The man yelled.
Long Wu waited for her eyes to adjust to the dim surroundings. Only then could she make out the scene.
A taxi was parked in the alley, and beside it was a man and a girl.
The man was holding the girl’s hair and forcing her down, apparently preparing to commit an obscene act.
The girl was wearing a school uniform. Though still a student, she seemed physically mature—a high schooler, likely.
The man, who turned out to be the taxi driver, initially tried to scare Long Wu off.
But when he saw Long Wu’s refined beauty, he changed his mind. Compared to Long Wu, the girl was no match; Long Wu exuded confidence and poise.
The man gave a lecherous grin, released the schoolgirl, and began advancing toward Long Wu.
"Well, aren’t you a beauty? Since you’ve come to me, don’t blame me for taking what’s offered," the man sneered, his face oozing depravity. It was clear he had committed similar crimes before.
Recently, due to strict crackdowns, he hadn’t dared go too far, limiting himself to situations like this—coercing high schoolers in secluded spots for his vile enjoyment.
These acts provided him pleasure but left the students with scars that could haunt them forever.
Long Wu despised men like this. Without hesitation, she lashed out with a kick.
The man hadn’t expected this stunning woman to be so fierce. He laughed wickedly and stepped forward to fight back.
In the past, Long Wu would have taken down such a man with a single strike.
But as she moved, she felt her legs falter, nearly causing her to stumble. Her kick lacked the usual force.
She realized her combat skills had grown rusty due to lack of practice.
Taking advantage of the moment, the man closed the gap and reached for Long Wu’s throat.
Long Wu scoffed inwardly. While she might be out of practice, dealing with someone like him was still no challenge.
Just as she prepared to throw a punch, a shadow streaked across her side, landing a fierce kick on the man’s chest.
The man was sent flying and collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
"Weren’t you not getting involved?" Long Wu asked irritably, glaring at Xiang Yu.
Xiang Yu stood there, glanced briefly at the high schooler trembling in fear and silence, then turned and walked away without saying a word.
Long Wu hurried after him. She had originally wanted to convince Xiang Yu to live a peaceful life, but now she had changed her mind. If Xiang Yu truly did so, he wouldn’t be Xiang Yu anymore.
"Wait, Xiang Yu, I need to tell you something," Long Wu called out...
