Chained prisoner’s POV

I tug on the chain around my body one last time.

The beast in me is raging with unrestrained anger, my inner cheek is bitten raw and drool drops to the floor, the drool is blood and saliva in a dirty mix.

My growls are deep, coming from my chest and reverberating in the padded room, everything in here smells like dust and now, my rage.

A man walks in with scared steps, and I snap at him, teeth bared and eyes crazed as I tug on the thick chains holding me back again, I am ready to break it and go at him.

How dare they?

"Unlock it" I snarl and the man turns his back on me, coming to feed me a meal that I can already smell the drugs in, they want to put me out again.

"O-open your mouth" he says and bring the chopsticks holding the rice cakes to my mouth and I bite down hard enough that the chopsticks break before spitting out the meal to the floor.

"UNLOCK IT! UNLOCK IT! UNLOCK IT!" I roar and the man starts to shake even harder but doesn’t leave, he has to make sure he feeds me the drugged meal, and I have to taste his blood on my tongue; the taste of my own blood on my tongue no longer grounds me.

The man turns around to pick a new chopstick, metal ones and I pull the chains again, this time, hard enough to make a noise that makes the man look back at me in fear.

"W-what was that?" he asks and a mocking smirk blooms on my face as the chain on my right hand falls to the floor, broken.

"Goddess..." the man whispers and turns to run away but I grab him by the back of his neck before he can alert anyone else.

"You should have listened to me" I say in his ear, breathing in the rotting smell of his pheromones as the smell of his terror leaks through his scent patch, no one wants to die by a rabid alpha.

"Help...help!" he screams and I squeeze his neck, ready to snap it, but then the door opens and a tall alpha walks in.

"Put him down" he orders and I snap at him, baring my teeth at him and he calmly repeats the order, voice deep and chilling.

I frown at the confidence of this alpha, who does he think he is, how dare he interrupt me when I am teaching a prey an important lesson?

At my defiance, he moves with speed and pushes me to the floor, stunning me with his raw strength and I roar in anger as my head hits the wall, and the crack of my skull fills the room.

"Fuck!" I scream in rage, reaching my hand up to grab at him, I wrap my fingers around his throat and throw him off me but he doesn’t give up.

He flashes his alpha eyes at me and commands; "come to your senses" he says.

"Father" I growl and bow my head, my alpha has been out of control since I came out of the hallucination that bastard put me in, my alpha has been taken back to the weeks that followed my recovery from the fire attack.

"Son, put yourself together" he says and I push myself up against the wall, I am half conscious of my action while the other half is in the hands of my alpha.

"Yujun, where is he? Why can’t I feel him still?" I ask quickly, aware that I might slip into madness at any minute.

"He’s with the Kang" my father says and I roar again, my omega should be anywhere but there, not with that fucker with no spine!

"I will have you chained again" father warns and I turn my head away, forcing myself to breathe, "you can’t go to him like this son, look at yourself" his voice drops and I look down at myself.

I can already imagine what I look like; face covered in drool, teeth bared, inner cheek bleeding and beard growing. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"We will do this legally, right now Hwang has no heir, that makes your pup elegible for the throne" dad says and my head snaps up.

"What do you mean?" I ask, growling still as my alpha is unruly.

"I mean, once your pup arrives, we will legally demand the release of our kidnapped heir and that means, Yujun can take the throne as regent" father explains and I nod slowly.

I would have gone into the territory and tear through thousands of bodies for my mate.

"That boy is smart, he has built public’s affection, one careless move can only put your mate in more danger" father says and I wince, I can’t have my Junnie be in more danger, no.

"How long?" my alpha asks, already hating having to wait.

"As long as we need, you will be patient" my father says and I draw a sharp breath, "now eat and stop terrorizing my workers" he says.

I walk to the meal and pick it up to eat, meeting my father’s eyes as he watches me eat with shaking hands, I need the time to fly by.

The near-death experience with the hallucination hasn’t worn off, I had to be forced out of the burning room in my mind by a Shaman, I can still feel the heat on my skin, but it wears off with each day that passes.

"How’s mom?" I ask carefully and my father’s turn to wince.

"Mourning" he says and in that one word I can hear the pain, my mom is in pain, mourning a living son.

"Tell him I’m alive" I say.

"I will, but not now" he says and I nod, choosing again to trust the alpha who has led me since I was born till now...I can only count down the days to when I see my omega again.

How long?

"Jaehyun...it will be over soon, just wait" father says and gets up to leaves and the drugs in the rice cake hits me as I pass out.
