?"Aha!" A young woman pointed her finger at them.

Lukas looked up in sudden surprise while Serena simply sighed a little. Both of their reactions seemed to be fitting however for the person in question.

This was a girl with violet-colored hair that was cut shortly into a bob and she had two eye colors. One of them was the regular red eye color and the other was the same purple shade as her hair.

Heterochromia.

It was the first time that Lukas ever encountered a thing in the Vampire world–most of them having the red shade or Serena's unique golden eye color, nothing less.

This was already a sign that this Viktoria Cadis was already someone special.

But what further seemed to signal that was the fact that she was wearing cute pajamas. It was the one you'd see with long sleeves and pants with a sleepy bunny print on them paired with the moon.

"Viktoria."

"Intruder–"

"It's me." Serena sighed again.

"I knew that," Viktoria Cadis nodded as she crossed her arms. "But you didn't say that you were coming here! I thought you guys were having that anniversary party or whatever. I think I sent someone as my body double."

Lukas raised a brow at that, but couldn't help but find her a little adorable. Quirky, but cute. Nothing like the type of person he'd imagine who would guard the relics of the Vampire city jealously.

"... some things happened, and that is why I came here to see you," Serena said.

"That's the thing. Put a lot of people all under one roof and place–boom! Something major happens and the entire place explodes, meanwhile, collect every single item and only have a few people? It's so uneventful, and not to mention really safe too. If someone were to come here, all I'd do is pick up the skull sword and then they'd be–"

"You know that some people could also still steal the weapons on display and use it against you." Serena sighed.

To Lukas' surprise, it was the first time that he had seen Serena seem impatient. She had always seemed so cool and in control with anyone, even from important people like the Guildmaster or Councilman Tenebris but she was resigned when it came to this woman.

"Anyhow, are you not going to introduce me to him?" Viktoria Cadis jabbed a finger at Lukas' direction. 𝐟r𝒆ℯ𝘄𝑒𝒃𝚗𝒐𝘃e𝗹.c𝘰𝐦

"I don't think you're that interested in meeting other people." Serena frowned.

Truth be told, in Lukas' eyes, it felt like Viktoria only pointed at him to change the subject and not answer Serena's well-crafted reply. She seemed really childish and youthful in a way that Lukas couldn't exactly quite understand.

"Well, he seems interesting." Viktoria Cadis shrugged. "You wouldn't bring just about anyone here for a reason. Normally, you'd bring Katarina over here–don't tell me that she got fired. I always thought that she'd betray you! He must be your new maid, butler or whatever."

Serena's gaze narrowed again. "For the last time, just because you don't like Rina doesn't mean that you can spout nonsense about her."

"Who's Katarina?" Lukas couldn't help but ask.

"Her maid." Viktoria looked directly at him. "Context clues, boy."

"Right…"

"Don't speak to him like that." Serena massaged her forehead. "It's already a lot that I'm infuriated with you, at least don't bother other people."

"Bother other people?" Viktoria raised a brow and offendedly placed a hand over her chest. "I'm not the one who came out of nowhere to visit Blood Works without a week in advance appointment, Serena. If anything, shouldn't you be the one who's more fitting with the word bothersome. Some people here are trying to sleep too."

Serena clicked her tongue.

"You wear those kinds of clothes all the time, Viktoria. You're not fooling anyone by saying that you're trying to sleep–it's more likely that you're huddled in bed surrounded by all your books than you actually getting a wink of sleep."

"W-well, they're certainly comfy!" Viktoria pouted.

Lukas didn't realize it, but he found it once again cute that the girl was trying to hide the fact that she always liked wearing her pajamas. It was something that he'd imagine a girl might try to hide.

He secretly wanted to slap himself in the head for thinking that way. He needed to catch a grip of himself.

"Can you tell your butler to stop staring at me?" Viktoria Cadis suddenly interrupted his thoughts again. "I know that I look adorable and all, but it's rude to stare."

"Please don't flatter yourself, Viktoria. I'm quite sure that he's just trying to process how incredibly unbelievable it is that there's someone who owns such a fine establishment and yet does not act properly like she should."

"Well, at least I'm not someone who acts like a cold block of ice." Viktoria harrumphed, almost acting as if she was in victory. "I'm already giving you enough leeway by allowing you to stay here and yet you're not even giving me an ounce of respect."

"Then pardon me for not being able to act politely to someone who acts like a child–uphold yourself in a manner befitting your station then I might think about it."

"Hah!" Viktoria laughed a little. "We're finally talking about our stations now? I'm so glad that you managed to hold yourself this long without bringing up our bloodlines now, aren't we? Try not to scare away our new guy, eh?"

To Lukas' surprise, he watched Serena's face burn a little. It was already strange that she was being extremely expressive with Viktoria–the two seemingly have shared a long history together, but those words affected her.

What exactly was Viktoria's station?

"You half-blooded–" Serena started, but then noticed Lukas' gaze and then cut herself. She took in a deep breath and then clasped her hands together and caused the sound to echo down the entire building. "Miss Viktoria–"

"Lady Cadis."

One of Serena's eyes twitched. "Miss Cadis, I would like to obtain weapons for my friend."
