Venerable Demon King & The Doting Immortal (QT)-Chapter 596: The girls are fighting.
Chapter 596: The girls are fighting.
AN: Hello lovely angels. I went through grief counselling. Its been difficult but I am getting there. From tomorrow we should be back on regular schedule. Thank you for all your support and love. I appreciate it so much.
Xiang Yu looked around for Lian and Mei. He walked towards them with a concerned look on his face. "Are you two okay?" he asked, concern creasing his brow.
Lian nodded, a ghost of a smile on her lips. "We are good."
Mei grimaced, her hands flailing as she looked at herself. "Eww, I am covered in goo. It’s so disgusting! And it’s in my hair."
Lian touched her sister’s hair, poking at it before saying, "It looks good, like you have gel in your hair," with a teasing smile on her face.
Mei glared at her before swiping the dark blood across Lian’s cheek. Lian dodged but it was too late. Her cheek was now smudged with the disgusting smelly liquid. Mei said, "Is it still funny?"
Lian gritted her teeth and lunged forward to smear Mei’s face. Xiang Yu knew a fight was about to break out.
He chuckled lightly while separating them. "Okay, okay, stop fighting...There should be water somewhere around so you can wash up."
Lian took a deliberate breath, only to gag at the foul odour that hung around them. "Aargh, it’s so fucking gross. I think it got in my mouth," she said, her face contorting in revulsion as she spat out.
"Don’t be dramatic, it’s not even close to your lips," said Mei, but that set Lian off again.
Lian took a step forward and said, "Do you want to try it?" Mei was quick to hide behind their master.
Xiang Yu sighed before saying, "Let’s go and get you some water to wipe it off." He turned, heading to the camp.
Just then, Han Xin glanced at Xiang Yu’s disappearing figure before looking away. Han Zhan, who had found his way over there at some point, saw it, so he asked, "You two had a fight?"
Han Xin didn’t answer him. Instead, he said, "Burn them all," a grim resolve in his tone as he walked away.
Han Zhan sighed before stepping over the lifeless bodies of the undead following him. Suddenly, a hand grabbed his leg, and the zombie snarled. Han Zhan pulled the trigger and with a bang, the zombie’s brains were splattered all over the ground. He ran over to catch up with Han Xin who was already near the camp.
"Ah-Xin... this can’t be a coincidence," he said, eyes scanning the horizon. "We haven’t seen this many zombies in years and why us? Why attack us?"
Han Xin paused, his expression darkening. Most of the zombies had been long eradicated, so how could there be this many, all of them attacking so suddenly? It didn’t add up.
Xiang Yu, still occupied with wetting a washcloth for Lian, glanced up. "Isn’t it obvious?" he said, his voice steady as he gestured towards the blue vehicle that didn’t belong to their team. It was the car Su Jing had found after Da Hei had stolen theirs.
Su Jing caught the tail end of the conversation and turned, confusion etching her features. She wiped a bloody mess off her face, eyes narrowing. "What do you mean by that?" she asked, frustration bubbling to the surface.
The tension in the air was thick like a fight was about to break out. Xiang Yu stood silently. He didn’t need to say a word, Han Xin already understood.
Across from them, Han Zhan was a storm of fury. Muscle tensed, his jaw clenched tight, he felt every ounce of frustration bubble to the surface. They had driven for days, pushing through fatigue, only to face a night filled with mindless zombies. All of it was because of Su Jing.
"What do you mean by that?" Su Jing asked, her voice sharp, but her eyes flicked nervously. She knew in her heart she had made a big mistake, but pride kept the admission buried deep.
Han Zhan advanced toward her, anger seeping from every word. "How could you be so careless?" His voice rose, echoing in the stillness of the night.
Su Jing bristled but tried to defend herself. "It was an emergency!" she protested, her tone defensive.
"An emergency doesn’t mean you throw caution to the wind! You should have checked afterwards!" Han Zhan snapped back, his frustration spilling over. "Burn it! Take everything out and burn it!"
His words stung, but Su Jing was too overwhelmed to argue. She swallowed hard, her heart racing as she began to unload the car. The items felt heavy in her hands, each one a reminder of the mistakes she had made, all of them of which were caught by Xiang Yu.
After taking everything out, she set the car alight. The flames flickered and danced, a harsh glow illuminating her face as she watched it burn.
"Listen up!" Han Xin’s voice cut through the tense atmosphere. "We can’t stay here tonight. Everyone start packing." He moved purposefully to the car, gathering their weapons with steady hands.
Xiang Yu stood beside him, his expression complicated. "Are you mad at me?" he asked quietly, searching Han Xin’s face for a hint of emotion.
Han Xin struggled to mask his anxiety, wrestling with the urge to keep everything inside. His heart pounded in his chest, each beat a reminder of the fear that gripped him. It was a deep-seated anxiety, one he couldn’t shake off no matter how hard he tried.
The thought of Xiang Yu getting hurt, or worse, dying and vanishing from his life, sent waves of dread crashing over him. It felt as if their souls were tethered together, and the connection was unravelling.
"You know I am," he finally said, his voice thick with emotion. But instead of waiting for a response, he turned and walked away, as if escaping the storm of feelings brewing inside him.
Xiang Yu stood there, caught off guard. ’Damn, is this really our first fight in this world?’ he thought to himself. It surprised him that he felt a surge of frustration. He was used to taking risks. novelbuddy-cσ๓
He had faced countless challenges without flinching. Even Lian and Mei understood his nature. He had fought his father, knowing full well that he was at a disadvantage. It was his nature and it was difficult to change.
Before long, they drove off, leaving the spot behind, the fire still smouldering in their wabreathee car hummed through the night, but an unsettling silence filled the air. Han Xin didn’t speak, his tension palpable. Lian and Mei exchanged worried glances, sensing that something wasn’t right. They didn’t even dare breath wrong lest it set one of them off.
When morning broke, they finally stopped near a river. The sun peeked above the horizon, spilling golden light over the landscape. While the others set up camp, Han Xin gathered Han Zhan and the rest to sweep the area for any lurking dangers.
Meanwhile, Xiang Yu took the girls downstream and said before leaving, "Take turns to be the look out... oh and dry your hair properly after you are done." The two of them replied innocently but as soon as he walked off the fight from earlier continued. It was like wrestlemania in the water.
