Chapter 2 - Uninvited Power

Morning light filtered through the curtains, golden rays casting a soft glow on the small, minimalist apartment. It was quiet—unnaturally so.

Asia Argento stirred on the futon laid out near the wall, blinking sleep from her eyes. The room was simple but strangely peaceful. No crosses. No church hymns. Just the steady hum of power that radiated from the one sitting across the room.

Leon.

He sat at the table, sipping tea, his katana resting nearby—perfectly balanced, like its master. His presence was suffocating, even when he said nothing.

Asia sat up slowly. "Good morning, Leon-san..."

He nodded once, eyes never leaving the open book in his hand.

She hesitated before asking, "Why did you save me?"

He finally looked up.

"I hate chains," he said simply. "And I hate people who try to force others into cages. You were just unlucky enough to be caught in theirs."

Asia bit her lip, eyes softening. She didn't know what kind of man he truly was—but something told her that this calm was only the surface.

Later – Kuoh Academy Rooftop

The wind was sharp atop the school. Leon leaned on the railing, staring down at the students like an observer, not a peer.

Footsteps approached behind him—delicate, purposeful.

"Leon," Rias Gremory greeted, her voice as smooth as velvet. "May I speak with you?"

He didn't respond.

She continued, undeterred. "I've been watching you. You're... strong. Too strong for a normal human. I'd like to invite you to join my peerage."

Silence.

Rias smiled, tilting her head. "You'd be an incredible Knight."

Leon turned to her, blue eyes like frost. "I'm not interested in titles, nor in serving anyone. Least of all someone who plays Queen while letting pawns die."

The words stung more than Rias let show. Akeno, behind her, narrowed her eyes slightly—but Rias raised a hand to stop her.

"You misunderstand. I protect those I care about."

Leon's voice cut through the air like his sword.

"And I destroy what threatens what's mine."

Without another word, he stepped past them, coat trailing behind him like a shadow.

That Night – Abandoned Church Outskirts

Leon's blade snapped back into its sheath with a click.

Three fallen angels lay unconscious or worse at his feet. Blue energy still flickered in the air, shaped like slashes from another dimension.

He looked over his shoulder.

Rias and her peerage stood there, shocked. They had rushed to stop a rogue Fallen Angel who'd returned for Asia—but found the battle already finished.

Leon sheathed Yamato. "Your problem's handled. Next time, be faster."

Rias stepped forward. "Why...? Why help us if you won't join us?"

He didn't stop walking.

"Because she asked me to," he said, nodding toward Asia, who had run to his side, clinging to his coat.

Akeno whispered, "He's dangerous..."

"No," Rias said quietly. "He's something else entirely."
