Village Doctor's Women-Chapter 261 - 255 Lu You’s Dream Vision
"I can only save his life, not cure him," Wang Jian said frankly, not hiding the truth.
Hu Ziyuan’s expression froze. With a lifeless look in his eyes, he mumbled, "It’s fine..." Though he said it was fine, his expression betrayed him.
After Wang Jian left, Hu Ziyuan’s face turned grim, his mind clearly racing. His intentions were crystal clear to Heizi, who was standing beside him. With his years of experience, Heizi had already guessed what his young master was thinking. Feeling indebted to Wang Jian, Heizi couldn’t help but offer a reminder. "Young Master, late-stage lung cancer isn’t something just any doctor can cure. The fact that Doctor Wang said he can save Uncle Jiu’s life is already remarkable."
Though the statement was logical, it sounded unbearably grating to Hu Ziyuan. He glared at Heizi and said coldly, "It’s just a few more days of life. It doesn’t mean he won’t die."
Heizi was rendered speechless. The remark was utterly irrational. Who in this world gets to live forever? Especially someone with late-stage lung cancer... getting even a few more months should be a blessing. The more Heizi thought about it, the more indignant he became. "If it weren’t for Doctor Wang, Uncle Jiu might not have even survived the past few days! To blame Doctor Wang for this is completely unreasonable."
"Reasonable?" Hu Ziyuan scoffed and said no more.
Heizi, however, had grown tired of this young successor’s attitude recently and had been bottling up his frustration. Finding an opening, he let it all out. "You haven’t forgotten about that group of people who just left, have you? Even if you want to throw a tantrum, you had better think it through."
Having said his piece, Heizi was about to wash his hands of the matter and leave, ready for a complete fallout with Hu Ziyuan. But to his surprise, a muffled groan came from behind him as Lu You began to wake up. Hearing the sound, Heizi remembered all the support Lu You had given him, stopped in his tracks, and returned to the bedside.
Though Hu Ziyuan’s character was questionable, his concern for Lu You was genuine. At the sound, he too rushed to the head of the bed, knelt, and grabbed Lu You’s hand. "Dad... how do you feel?"
Lu You heard the voice and tried to respond, but he didn’t even have the strength to open his mouth, so he gave up. The blood he had coughed up earlier came so suddenly it felt as if he had lost half his life, with one foot already through death’s door. After passing out, he felt a chilling cold envelop him, as if he were falling endlessly into a bottomless abyss—a sensation he never wanted to experience again.
It was then that he felt a warm current. In such a dire situation, the sudden warmth was an undeniable lifeline. Lu You latched onto it, pulling himself back from the brink.
But when he came to, the first thing he experienced was startling. It was like sleep paralysis; he was conscious and could see everything in the hospital ward, but he was utterly unable to move or make a sound. At the time, Heizi and Hu Ziyuan were both in the room keeping watch. Although they were asleep, their presence was a rare comfort.
But what truly surprised Lu You was the other person standing in the room. It was that young village doctor, Wang Jian!
Just as he was wondering why Heizi and Hu Ziyuan seemed oblivious to the man’s presence—were they sleeping too deeply?—he witnessed an unforgettable scene: Wang Jian manipulating the Yin Yang energies inside his own body to absorb the dark qi from Lu You.
Lu You saw a faint glow emanate from Wang Jian. As Wang Jian raised a hand, a gentle, warm current flowed into him. He realized then that the warmth he had felt in that cold, dark place had come from Wang Jian.
That wasn’t all. Lu You saw Wang Jian act like an Immortal from the legends, extracting a pitch-black mass from his body—it was the very same cold darkness Lu You had sensed in his subconscious. After Wang Jian removed the strange substance, Lu You felt an unprecedented relief, even before he had fully woken up. Before he could even say thank you, he saw Wang Jian walk through the wall and vanish, leaving him completely astounded. Then, he fell back into a deep sleep.
The clock hanging in the room showed the time was precisely 3:25 a.m.
When he regained consciousness again, he happened to overhear the argument between Heizi and Hu Ziyuan.
"Go... get Doctor Wang for me." These were the first words Lu You uttered the moment he could speak. Seeing Hu Ziyuan’s lack of reaction, a wave of frustration washed over him. He turned to the man beside him. "Heizi, you go."
As he spoke, he pointed emphatically toward the door, his hand still trembling.
Heizi was about to say something, but seeing Lu You’s wide-eyed, desperate look, he feared a flat refusal might send the old man off for good. So, ignoring whatever Hu Ziyuan might say, he walked straight out.
Seeing Heizi leave, Lu You finally let out a long sigh of relief and turned to Hu Ziyuan. When he saw the worry on the young man’s face, he couldn’t help but sigh again. He had been ready to lose his temper, but the boy’s expression made all his anger dissipate. He simply asked, "A moment ago, were you planning to use our methods on Doctor Wang?"
Hu Ziyuan was stunned. He had no idea how Lu You knew. He subconsciously assumed Heizi must have ratted him out, but Lu You had been unconscious. There was no way that could have happened.
His silence told Lu You that his guess was correct. "Ah, it seems I’ve failed to teach you well," Lu You lamented. "Although your old man started out as a common hoodlum, I’m not some reckless madman who disregards everything."
Hearing Lu You refer to himself as "your old man," Hu Ziyuan’s face lit up with joy, and he ignored the rest of what was said. This trip to death’s door was what it took for Lu You to finally acknowledge him as his godson.
It was with this realization that Lu You knew he had to speak from the heart. "Listen to me. No matter when I die, you are forbidden from going after Doctor Wang. Seeking his medical help is fine, but if you go looking for trouble, then consider our father-son relationship over."
Hearing this, Hu Ziyuan frowned, clearly thinking it over.
Lu You paid him no mind and continued, "This Doctor Wang is no ordi..." He had been about to say "ordinary person," but recalling the scene he’d witnessed, he corrected himself. "That Doctor Wang is not a mortal. We are no match for him."
Hu Ziyuan assumed Lu You was referring to the soldiers from earlier and didn’t argue.
Lu You then asked, "Did Doctor Wang come in here about an hour ago?" He had estimated the time; the clock in the room had read a little after three, but now it was past four.
Hu Ziyuan glanced at the clock and gave a wry smile. "Heizi and I were both asleep then, but it was a light sleep. If someone had come in, I definitely would have known. He only just came by and left right after taking your pulse."
Lu You fell silent, pondering. Was what I saw a hallucination, or a dream? And yet, I can still feel that warmth so clearly inside me. If it weren’t for that current, I wouldn’t be able to speak at all right now.
