Village Doctor's Women-Chapter 265 - 259 Cai Qiong
The cafeteria at Cai’s Hospital served a wide variety of food, partly because patients also ate there, making it comparable to any outside restaurant. The two arrived well outside the usual peak hours, as many people had already finished their meals and were leaving.
Since Cai Qiong was the hospital director, quite a few people greeted her as she walked by. Every single one of them also fixed their gaze on Wang Jian, clearly curious about the man at her side. Wang Jian even overheard someone speculating if he was Cai Qiong’s boy toy.
"It seems you have the hardware to be a kept man," Cai Qiong remarked, having also heard the whispers. Unlike other women who might have hidden their embarrassment or felt awkward, she asked him directly, "Want to consider it?"
"Consider what?" Wang Jian froze for a moment before he caught on. Seeing the mischievous look on her face, he was utterly speechless. "Just because my skin is a bit fair, that makes me a kept man? Rest assured, my stomach is perfectly fine for hard food."
He had to admit Cai Qiong’s suggestion was tempting. She was beautiful and capable, and most importantly, had a great personality; her family background was just a bonus. Being kept by her would be an excellent choice indeed. Wang Jian’s mind began to race.
Cai Qiong watched his expression with a light laugh. Although she didn’t know exactly what he was thinking, just seeing him contemplate the idea was satisfying enough. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
"Have you gotten even fairer?" Cai Qiong suddenly asked, a puzzled look on her face. "I feel like your skin is... even smoother than yesterday. It’s almost like a child’s..." As she spoke, her expression filled with amazement, and she couldn’t resist reaching out to touch his cheek. "Seriously, look. It’s even more supple than a child’s skin."
"Stop messing around!" Her actions made Wang Jian the center of attention in the cafeteria, and nearly every eye turned to them. The onlookers, noticing the handsome man and beautiful woman, let their curious glances linger, focusing intently on their interaction. It was the first time a woman had ever treated him this way, and he was rather uncomfortable. He tried to scold her with a fierce look, but he realized Cai Qiong showed no sign of backing down. In fact, she was still watching him with a smile.
"Seriously, though," Cai Qiong said, finally pulling her gaze away when she noticed his ears turning red. She pulled him over to the service counter to grab some eggs and milk, then picked a table by the window. She paid no mind to the onlookers; her eyes were only on him. "The impression you give me today is completely different from when I saw you yesterday."
"You’re very perceptive," Wang Jian said with a nod. "You probably know that I’ve always practiced martial arts. I had a bit of a breakthrough last night, so naturally, I’m a little different."
Cai Qiong, who had been tapping an egg against the table, stopped and looked up instantly. "A breakthrough?" She frowned, clearly perplexed by the strange statement, though she was aware of his background. "Practicing martial arts comes with benefits like this?"
She was suddenly reminded of Xu Qian, who was also learning from him. For some reason, a thought popped into her head: if Xu Qian’s skin also becomes as smooth and youthful as Wang Jian’s, wouldn’t I lose any advantage I have? The moment that idea surfaced and she saw Wang Jian nod, she immediately said, "Then I want to learn, too."
Yes, her relationship with Wang Jian wasn’t as close as Xu Qian’s, but she couldn’t afford to fall behind, at least not physically.
"You want to learn, too?" Wang Jian asked, surprised. "It’s not impossible, but..."
"But what?" Cai Qiong’s brow furrowed slightly. "Are you unwilling to teach me?"
Anyone could tell from her tone that she was genuinely angry, and seriously so. Wang Jian could only offer a bitter smile. "That’s not what I mean. Learning from me won’t be of much use. Achieving the same effect I have... it comes down to luck." He had to bring up the word "luck." After all, even his incredibly talented disciple, Peng Pingan, couldn’t reach his current level. Undergoing a complete transformation, cleansing one’s marrow, and becoming Immune to Hundred Diseases—that kind of thing was purely a matter of luck.
"I don’t care..." Cai Qiong wasn’t listening to his reasoning. She didn’t want to think about all that. She just wanted to be on the same level as Xu Qian. If she could have even a little bit more, her competitive little heart would be satisfied. Ignoring everything he said, she simply pouted and looked up at him with her big, pitiful eyes.
Faced with such a display, how could Wang Jian have the heart to refuse? He nodded. "Alright, I’ll teach you the basic stance training first. Whether there’s any follow-up will depend on your progress."
Only then did Cai Qiong look satisfied. She grinned, making no attempt to hide her eagerness. "No time like the present. Let’s go to my office right after we finish eating." Her voice wasn’t quiet, and in the spacious, acoustically live cafeteria, nearly everyone heard her. They had been the subject of constant stares since they walked in, and the unusual atmosphere between them hadn’t escaped anyone’s notice. Cai Qiong’s flirtatious, almost coquettish, behavior toward Wang Jian, in particular, had made jaws drop. Now, hearing her eagerly trying to pull him to her office, some people couldn’t help but let their minds wander.
If men were prone to salacious thoughts, women could be even more so. The hospital had no shortage of female nurses, and in a flash, they had already concocted an entire romance novel plot in their heads.
Completely unconcerned with the gossip, Cai Qiong pulled Wang Jian toward the exit. She didn’t want to miss this opportunity. She knew perfectly well that if she waited for him to remember to teach her, it could be ages. A chance to get on the same starting line as Xu Qian didn’t come along every day.
The path from the cafeteria to the director’s office required them to cross an outer courtyard and then take an elevator from the main hospital lobby to the top floor. All along the way, doctors and nurses alike got a clear, unobstructed view of Cai Qiong holding a man’s hand.
Cai Qiong saw their gossip-filled, amused gazes. A blush crept onto her cheeks, but she steeled herself and walked the entire way. Her small hand held tightly to Wang Jian’s, never letting go for a second. It felt like a declaration of sovereignty, a sign that she had no intention of releasing him. She said nothing, pretending not to notice his attempts to pull away, and only held on tighter.
Only when they reached the director’s office and closed the door behind them did Cai Qiong finally release his hand.
"Alright! Is there anything we need to prepare?" Cai Qiong dared not meet Wang Jian’s eyes. Pretending to be completely composed, she found an empty spot on the sofa and sat down, not even bothering with her now-disheveled skirt.
Although she wore a white lab coat, underneath she had a habit of wearing professional attire for work—typically a hip-hugging skirt and black stockings that gave her a sharp, competent look. Her current posture, however, pulled the fabric taut, putting her curves on full display.
It wasn’t the first time he’d seen her like this, but after being pulled all the way here, his mind was already wandering. Now, faced with this view, he found it difficult to look away.
