Villain: I Must NTR All The Hidden Bosses!-Chapter 30: Extreme Authority!
The hallway was dead silent, a heavy kind of silence that made every creak of the floor and flicker of the torches feel louder.
James stood in the middle of it, his back straight but his breathing uneven, his chest rising and falling as he tried to stay calm.
Three strong spirits surrounded him, blocking all his exits. Their glowing eyes stared at him, unblinking and full of malice.
The pressure coming off their bodies made the air shimmer, and James could feel sweat sliding down his face, but he ignored it. His mind was focused.
James glanced to the left, then the right, and then behind him, hoping to see... something. A guard, a way out—anything.
Nothing. Just the spirits and the bright walls.
His fingers twitched, his thoughts racing. ’I need time. Just a little more time’ He kept his face blank, but inside, his mind was a storm. ’Maybe I can stall them long enough for help to arrive. Maybe...’
He held up a hand, focusing inwardly. Extreme Healing! he chanted in his mind. He was testing a theory that could completely change the situation if it worked.
Nothing happened.
His frown deepened. ’Seriously? It should’ve worked!’ He glanced at the spirits, who still hadn’t moved but were clearly waiting for something.
Probably for him to drop his guard.
"Alright," he muttered under his breath. "One more try."
’Extreme Recovery!’
This time, something responded. Purple mist burst out from his armour, swirling around him.
James flinched, expecting it to form a shield or weapon like it had before, but instead, the mist dissolved into his skin.
His body tingled. Warmth spread through him, starting at his arms and legs, then moving inward.
The cuts and burns on his body began to close, the pain fading as if it had never existed. His chest felt lighter, his energy surging back to full.
Even his soul sea—the essence of his soul force, which had been dangerously low—began to refill. He could feel it, like water slowly pouring back into a drained glass.
This was a complete recovery!
James stared down at his hands, flexing his fingers. ’Wow...? My soul weapon can do this?’ He had thought it was just for fighting, but now he realised it was so much more.
The spirits shifted, their bodies flickering for the first time. James looked up sharply. Their glowing eyes were wide, almost as if they were shocked.
Suddenly, they moved.
Without a sound, they lunged toward each other, their dazzling forms colliding in a blinding burst of light and heat.
James stepped back, raising an arm to shield his eyes. The heat was intense, like standing next to a roaring bonfire.
When the light faded, his heart sank.
Standing where the three spirits had been was a single massive figure. It was over three metres tall, with skin as red as molten lava and flames roaring around its body.
Its eyes were glowing slits of pure fire, and the pressure it gave off was overwhelming, crushing down on James like a tidal wave.
"A Great Fire Spirit..." James muttered under his breath. His expression didn’t change, but inside, his thoughts were grim.
’They merged. Their power didn’t just add up—it multiplied. This isn’t good.’
The Great Fire Spirit didn’t wait. It raised one massive hand, and in a flash, five enormous fireballs appeared in the air, spinning slowly around it.
James’ eyes narrowed. His muscles tensed as the spirit flicked its hand, sending two of the fireballs hurtling toward him like meteors.
He reacted instantly.
’Extreme Agility!’
Purple mist oozed out of his pores and swirled around his legs, forming glowing purple boots that hugged his calves tightly.
His body felt weightless, like he could float if he wanted to. He darted to the side just as the fireballs roared past him, their heat so intense that it seared the air itself.
Even though he dodged, the flames were so hot that the edges of his clothes caught fire. His hair and eyebrows sizzled, the smell of burning filling his nose.
He slapped at his head, putting out the flames, but the minor burns still stung.
The Great Fire Spirit didn’t care. It launched two more fireballs.
Boom! Boom!
James gritted his teeth, forcing his legs to move.
Extreme Speed! he chanted. The boots on his feet dissolved into mist, and the power entered his body directly. He pushed himself backwards, leaping faster than ever before.
Boom! Boom!
The fireballs slammed into the ground before him, exploding with earth-shaking force. The shockwaves flung him backward, sending him crashing into a statue at the end of the hallway.
He groaned, pushing himself off the ground. "Stupid statue," he muttered under his breath.
But as he looked back, his chest tightened. The fireballs had left massive craters in the floor, their explosions tearing through the marble like it was paper.
If he hadn’t moved, and dodged instead...
The Great Fire Spirit raised its last fireball. But as it threw it, the fireball twisted mid-air, morphing into a massive phoenix made entirely of flames.
Screech!
The bird flapped its wings, letting out a piercing cry as it shot toward him with incredible speed. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
James’ heart pounded. ’Elemental Animation?! That’s a Level 3 skill! This thing’s stronger than I thought!’
The phoenix was almost on him. He leapt to the side trying to dodge, but the bird turned sharply, chasing him like a predator locked onto its prey.
His mind raced.
Extreme Defense! he chanted. Purple mist formed the purple armour around him just as the phoenix slammed into him.
The explosion was deafening. James was flung backward, crashing into the ground as flames licked at his body.
His burns were worse now, his skin raw and red, but he forced himself to stand. Blood dripped from his lips as he glared at the spirit.
"I... I’m not done yet," he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper.
The Great Fire Spirit began summoning another phoenix. James’ eyes flickered with desperation—and then, inspiration struck.
He pushed off the ground, dashing toward the spirit with a crazed expression.
When the phoenix arrived, he pounced left and dodged it, but the phoenix followed him, its fiery wings cutting through the air.
The spirit’s glowing eyes widened in shock. It stepped back, trying to create distance, but James was faster.
"Extreme Authority!" he roared inwardly.
Purple mist gathered in his throat, his chest burning as power built up.
It worked!
When he was close enough, he screamed, his voice exploding like a shockwave. "DIE!"
The Great Fire Spirit froze, its body flickering as if struggling to stay solid. Then, with a deafening crack, it shattered into a million sparks, leaving behind a single orb of glowing red energy.
James staggered, blood dripping from his mouth and nose. His throat felt like it had been torn apart. But there was no time to rest.
The phoenix was still coming.
He turned to face it, his lips curling into a faint, defiant smile. So this is how it ends... strength. It’s all that matters in this world.
The phoenix closed in, and James closed his eyes, accepting his fate.
But just before it hit, a black-clad figure appeared in front of him.
The phoenix slammed into them, exploding in a fiery burst. The figure was flung back, their body hitting the ground hard.
James’ eyes widened as he stared at the crumpled figure. "Martha?" he whispered, his voice hoarse.
And then he collapsed.
