General POV:

One hour ago.

In the hospital room,

"Shit!"

Cursing out loud, Richard abruptly woke up and perched on his bed, drenched in sweat.

"No, they can’t be together."

Blabbering something along those lines, he looked around as he came to his senses and sighed in relief.

"This nightmare!"

He pressed his temples together and took a deep breath. As his eyes darted around the room, he noticed the time on the digital wall clock.

"Phew~! Still some time."

Today was the day the academy reopened and also the day of his official interrogation.

This was explained to Richard by the academy staff, who visited him after he awoke yesterday and gave him a brief overview of the situation.

Through them, Richard also came to know what happened after he fainted.

How Adrian seemed to have defeated a Cuegle and saved their lives, the attack of other Cuegles on other cadets, etc.

When Richard got this news, having just woken up, he was exhausted and quickly fell asleep after confirming Daisy’s safety.

As for how many innocent cadets died, it was none of his concern.

But now that he was back to normal after the rest, he couldn’t help but think deeper about this situation.

"That bastard Adrian! How could he be so strong?"

No matter how Richard ran the horses in his mind, he couldn’t understand why the current Adrian was different from what he remembered.

If it were a simple butterfly effect, it would still be understandable.

"But defeating a level 35+ monster after just two months of awakening his class is impossible!"

"No, wait!"

Suddenly, Richard’s mind clicked, and he thought of something.

"What if he is also a regressor like me?"

It was an absurd possibility, but the more Richard thought about it, the more it seemed like the truth to him.

From those recent Chaos monster attacks to his off-the-charts growth.

If what he thought was true, then everything made sense.

"Adrian’s definitely a regressor."

He blurted it out to himself confidently, but then abruptly yelled.

"Doesn’t that mean he’s already a Chaos worshipper?"

Goosebumps appeared on Richard’s forearms, and another question raised itself in his mind.

Why did Adrian summon the Chaos monsters in the academy?

Sure, he wanted to grow stronger, but why not in another place?

"Why save Daisy and my life? He should understand that I am an anomaly too in this timeline, right?"

Unable to comprehend, Richard scratched his head and looked out of the window towards the hospital garden.

There, unexpectedly and coincidentally, his gaze fell on a kingfisher placing a wiggling worm near a peaceful pond.

Enticed by the bait, an unsuspecting small fish in the pond swam closer to the worm when, without warning, the kingfisher struck, capturing the fish in its beak and flying away.

Richard’s eyes widen in surprise when he saw this scene, and he couldn’t help but compare it to what Adrian did.

"What if he did that to impress her? To deceptively lure my unsuspecting and innocent Daisy into some peril, like he did with Mina?"

As if he had finally realized everything, he got out of bed.

"No! I can’t let this happen."

He intently looked out of the window while shouting.

"I will expose that demon Adrian in front of everyone and make him suffer for all that he did."

Richard’s eyes glowed with hatred, worry, and fury.

Turning around, he dashed towards the bathroom to get ready for the academy.

"I have to save Daisy."

.....

About an hour later,

The academy started as usual.

There was some unrest as a byproduct of the previous incident, but the instructors’ assistance quickly restored order.

However, while other cadets moved towards their respective classes, Richard moved towards the headmistress’s office.

Surprisingly, though, there was no headmistress there.

Instead, what awaited him were his homeroom instructor, Isaac, and two official interrogators from the government.

One was a middle-aged male with black hair, and another was a stern-looking blonde woman.

Not long later, Daisy also arrived, dressed in the academy uniform, and for some reason she looked happier.

Staring at this, Richard felt it was because of Adrian’s absence, which made him sigh in relief.

’I have to save Daisy.’

Once again, he hardened his resolve and clenched his fists.

Nevertheless, when he saw that the interrogators had taken out their pads and were ready to ask questions, he frowned and couldn’t help but ask Isaac abruptly.

"Excuse me Instructor Isaac, where’s Adrian? Aren’t we supposed to do this together?"

However, before Isaac could even open his mouth, it was Daisy who replied first.

"Adrian had some work at his father’s office; maybe he will give it later."

"Oh I see. Thank you, Daisy."

Flustered by Daisy’s speaking so nicely to him, Richard nodded his head like a chicken.

On the outside, he was like a submissive puppy, but on the inside, he was fuming with jealousy.

’Why is Daisy speaking for him? And how does she know where he is?’

Screaming inside his head, he clenched his fists even more tightly.

’No, no, maybe that guy pestered her in the morning, but when he didn’t come, Daisy was happy.’

Once again feeding delusional supplements to his own brain, Richard heaved in relief and regained his confidence.

’Fortunately, Daisy still hasn’t fallen for that guy’s tricks, heh! Did he think my Daisy was like other girls?’

Richard was so lost in his own world that he was unaware of the perverted smile that subconsciously appeared on his face.

Daisy noticed this scene, and her good mood abruptly fell.

’Ugh! Disgusting.’

She shifted her chair away from Richard.

"Okay, both of you! Let’s start the interrogation."

The middle-aged interrogator’s words brought Richard out of his reverie, and as they focused, the interrogation officially started.

Unfortunately, the interrogators were strict, and their words were sharp.

While this round of questioning was child’s play for a regressor like Richard, it was unnerving for a young girl like Daisy.

And the more emotional Daisy became, the more distorted her expressions got.

When Richard saw this, he became worried.

He was already pissed that, during the incident, he couldn’t do anything to save Daisy and gave a villain like Adrian the chance to impress her.

So now that she was once again in trouble, he wanted to help her at all costs.

"You two noticed the monsters first; then how can you say that you didn’t even know how they appeared? Surely they couldn’t have come out of the air, right?"

Consequently, when the male interrogator once again questioned them sharply, Richard decided to speak first.

He wanted to not only help Daisy ease her burden but also expose that bastard Adrian and teach him a lesson.

Thus, he voiced out his true thoughts.

"I believe one of us did it."

His answer finally grabbed everyone’s attention, and the intrigued interrogator asked back curiously.

"Ho! But how can you say for sure?"

"Simple! There’s no way a Chaos monster can appear without someone helping from the inside, and since there were only three of us, I say it’s one of us."

Richard replied confidently, but on his side, where he didn’t notice, Daisy’s expression worsened.

A bad premonition clutched her heart, and she became furious.

If she could, she would have already ripped off that sharp tongue of this bastard, Richard.

Fortunately...

"How do you know about Chaos monsters?"

When Richard, on her side, overheard the interrogator’s sharp question, he wasn’t feeling much better.

It was like someone poured a bucket of cold water over his head, waking him to reality.

This sight made Daisy a little satisfied.

However, the words had already been spoken, so now Richard could only grit his teeth and try to cover up his blunder.

"I... I... read it in some book."

"Hmm."

The interrogator nodded and didn’t speak further.

A heavy silence descended upon the room, making Daisy and Richard both feel huge pressure.

Which eventually vanished like a puff of smoke when the male interrogator finally opened his mouth again.

"Looks like the book gave you half the knowledge since you aren’t aware of the multiple ways to summon a Chaos monster."

Hearing those words, Daisy was just about to inwardly sigh in relief, thinking that the matter was over, when...

The female interrogator, who had been silent until now, spoke, and her words caused Daisy’s breath to stop in her throat.

"Now that you have said so, it makes me realize that it’s indeed a matter of concern; the perpetrators can also be one of the cadets—"

The more the female instructor spoke, the more Daisy’s emotions fluctuated, and finally,

"As such, me and my partner will like to check on you both, respectively... Of course, Adrian, who’s not here, will also be investigated personally."

Hearing those words, Richard cheered in his heart.

While Daisy’s heart sank to the bottom.

But Daisy wasn’t even given the time to process the situation as the female interrogator in front of her suddenly stood up.

Then she motioned for Daisy to follow her into a private room.

Realizing this, Daisy’s emotions swirled like a turbulent storm, and her vision started to blur.

The golden liquid had only condensed the Chaos energy into her heart and not eliminated it.

If checked by expert hunters, she would be found out in an instant.

At that time, no one would believe whether she was really the culprit or not.

Once caught, her fate would be worse than death.

Knowing this, how could Daisy follow the interrogator?

’No, no, I can’t go.’

Panic welled up inside her.

The desperation of the situation overwhelmed her, and Daisy couldn’t bear it any longer.

Her thoughts started spinning, and she felt an overwhelming urge to run to escape this nightmarish situation.

It was all too much for her to handle.

Fear clawed at her mind.

Her vision began to turn blood-red, and her eyes became bloodshot.

"Daisy!!!"

Noticing this, Richard shouted in bewilderment.

And the people in the room also went on high alert.

Both interrogators realized something was terribly wrong, and the male interrogator shouted almost immediately.

"Hold her down!"

In an instant, Isaac and both interrogators rushed towards Daisy, trying to restrain her.

Unfortunately, it was already too late.

BOOM!!!

An immense surge of black Chaos energy erupted from Daisy like a dam bursting open.

"Ahhhhhh!!!!"

She screamed at the top of her lungs, her hands clutching her head in agony, as if she had gone insane.

"Daisy!!!"

The huge Chaos energy enveloped everyone rushing towards her, sending them flying through the air like bullets.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

However, even that was only the beginning.

Zooom!

Terrifying Chaos energy continued to pour out of Daisy’s body like an unending torrent without limit.

Her once-bright blue eyes turned pitch black like a Chaos monster.

But that wasn’t the most alarming thing.

It was the effect of this Chaos energy that spread throughout the academy like wildfire, twisting and warping everything in its path.

Anywhere the Chaos energy passed, it transformed that area into a nightmarish hell of chaos.

Like a "Dungeon of Chaos" that had descended upon the earth.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Enormous portals tore open the sky, and monstrous creatures descended like a rain of terror upon the academy.

It was a scene of mayhem and apocalypse, like the end of the world at Hunter Academy.

Looking at all of this happening from a hidden corner, the male interrogator’s body shook with terror.

As if he recalled a horrible memory—a nightmare he doesn’t want to remember.

His breathing became rapid as blood dripped down his nose.

Only three words came out of his bloodied mouth in such a hopeless situation before one of the falling Chaos monstrosities crushed him.

"We are fucked!"

Booom!
