Villain: The Play of Destiny-Chapter 158
"Who was it?" Qingyue curiously asked when Keith returned to the table after attending a call.
"Sebastian." He told her. "Anthony Falken passed away this morning. He called me to inform me about this." He lightly said and then poured himself some wine.
Qingyue stared at him in shock, finding it hard to process what he had just told her.
The second son of the Falken Family was dead. This was something that took her off-guard, after all, he was her younger brother's classmate.
"What happened to him?" She apprehensively asked.
"Apparently, he contracted some disease several months ago, and after a long battle, he took his final breath this morning," Keith told her. "Come on, eat up!" He reminded her that food was running cold.
Qingyue lowered her head and stared at her meal. Her eyes were vacant, and her mind harboured some really disturbing thoughts.
"Keith."
"Yes?" He chewed on his steak and swallowed it before raising his head to look at her.
"Did you..." She trailed off as she could not bring herself to ask the question.
"You should always be mindful of what you talk about when you are in public, my dear Yue." He reminded her that they were at a restaurant. "And no, I don't mind you trying to ask me that question." He assured her when she lowered her head.
There were a few minutes of silence between the two of them, and eventually, Qingyue resumed eating her lunch.
"I did not have a hand in that matter." He finally said to her, which immensely relieved her.
"I am sorry..." She wanted to apologise to him for even trying to ask such a question, but he smiled at her and shook his head.
"Eat!" He strictly said, and the grey-eyed giggled before paying her full attention to her meal.
After they had their meal, the two of them walked down the street to an ice cream parlour, where they bought their favourite slush.
The first time she had tasted it was back in winter, but now, it was summertime, and it tasted even better.
"I love it!" She happily said and then grabbed his hand as she led him to walk with her toward the City Park of Sameran City.
Even though it was the afternoon time of a summer day, the Park was as always bustling with citizens. It was probably because the temperature in Sameran City never crossed the mark of 32° celsius even on the hottest day of the year. And it was just the perfect weather to enjoy their time.
"Don't you think this is a bad idea?" He smiled at her and asked.
Since there were both beautiful people, they were catching the attention of people. Some had already recognised Keith and were debating if they should approach him or not.
"Don't care!" She playfully said and then dragged him to the central lake. "No..." She sighed helplessly when she saw that all the benches by the side of the lake were occupied.
Keith chuckled at her reaction and then pulled her with him to a place where children were playing football.
"What are you doing?" She confusedly asked when he crouched down and started taking off his shoes and socks.
"Of course, I am going to play." He gave her a blank look and then handed her his shades before running into the field.
Qingyue watched in dismay as the children readily agreed to let him play with them.
"And what am I supposed to do?!" She shouted at him.
"Take off your shoes and join us! Or you can sit there and watch us." He just shrugged at her and then completely lost himself in the game.
The grey-eyed girl pouted in dissatisfaction and then grumpily sat down on the soft grass, watching the game.
She thought she would get bored, but watching him dribble the ball, and laugh every time he pulled off a successful nutmeg was quite an interesting show.
Keith refrained from scoring any goal, and always passed the ball to one of the awaiting young boys and girls who were waiting in the box.
And after playing for a while on one team, he switched to the other and helped them score goals too.
There were already people gathered around the field, cheering for the young kids and Keith, and their cheers attracted even more people to the place.
Nearly an hour later, when Keith decided he had played enough, he said goodbye to his current and former teammates before walking back to Qingyue.
"You should have joined us." He smiled at her and then sat next to next.
"I don't know how to play football!" She informed him.
"So?" He confusedly looked at her. "Did you forget that you are an Auror now, my dear Yue? Would it be too hard for you to understand the basics and play football without making fun of yourself?" He teased her.
"Hmph!" She turned her face away from him, blushing slightly. "But I watched you dribble. I don't think I could do that. What if I harmed some kid? They were awfully close to you, trying to tackle you and steal the ball away."
"So you are telling me that you would have crashed into them." He mischievously smiled. "Yeah, you might be right about it. You can be very clumsy at times."
"Hey!" She turned to look at him and narrowed her eyes at him.
"What?" He asked. "I still remember watching you trying to learn dancing from Aunt Celine. Even Nana did better than you and she did not know how to dance before that day!" He reminded her, which made her burn in embarrassment.
"Shut up!" She told him. "You should look at yourself before pointing out faults in other people. You have lost over 300 games of chess to Amelia! And you are yet to win your first!"
"Do you think it's easy to win against her?" He retorted. "Why don't you try it then? Also, you are yet to win your first game against me as well." He smirked.
"Hmph!" She decided to not argue with him about it, mostly because she could not think of any flaw of his to poke some fun at him.
"So, what do you want for your birthday?" He asked after a while, and Qingyue was elated to hear that question.
"You remember?" She brightly smiled at him.
"Of course, I do. Kiara reminds me about it now and then." He informed her.
"Good!" She giggled and then pretended to think of what gift she wanted on her birthday, which was on the 27th of September. "I want a ring!" She finally said.
"A ring, eh?" He teased her. "Should it be special or even a simple one would do?"
"Doesn't matter. I just want a ring." She shrugged and said, but Keith knew that it mattered a lot.
He had to make it special because that's what she expected from him. After all, he did make things really special for Rebecca.
"Okay. I will just go and buy you a simple one then." He said and then put his socks and shoes back on.
Even though she realised that he was teasing her, she could not help but narrow her eyes at him for saying that he would just get her something ordinary.
The two of them approached the lake again, but all the benches were still occupied. Qingyue did not seem sad about it as she happily grabbed his hand and led him to walk around the park, and watched the children playing in the playground.
He could not help but laugh when he caught her longingly looking at the Swing. But unfortunately, it was for kids and she was a little too big to enjoy it.
Keith then led her to the other side of the City Park, where there were swings for people their age, and luckily, they found two free ones.
Qingyue happily took one and then started swinging on it.
"Come!" She insisted that he sits on the one next to hers, and the ladies who were watching them could not help but giggle.
However, Keith was not a shy person, and he just simply sat on the swing and started swinging. But unlike, Qingyue, who was being a little reckless, he just slowly swung back and forth.
"Faster!" She called out to him.
"No thanks." And he refused to do it.
Keith flashed his brilliant smile at the lady who had braved herself up and took the swing next to him.
"Hi!"
"Hey " He answered her and then initiated a polite chat with her.
It turned out that she was a tourist from Southern Netheria and Keith patiently told her about all the places worth visiting in Sameran City and the Nothern Highlands.
Of course, he knew that she was only asking about these things to keep talking with him. She did not seem like a person who would go out on an adventure without any planning.
When he was done telling her about the destinations that she should visit, his dear Qingyue called out to him.
"Hubby, let's go!" She said, and Keith had to fight it hard to suppress his laughter that was about to break loose.
Qingyue too realised that she did not choose the right words as the other people around them looked at her in surprise.
Of course, these people knew who Keith was, and some even knew her, which was why they had been hesitating to come forward and talk with them.
"Okay, my dear wifey. Let's go." He playfully hugged her waist and then led her away from the people, and soon he broke out into chuckles. "So, wifey, how about we spice things up tonight?"
"Keith!" She embarrassedly smacked her fist on his chest and then stomped ahead of him, folding her arms on her chest.
But there was an adorable blush on her face and a little smile that wanted to flash brightly on her lips, but she controlled it.
It was a good day.
