Chapter 649: Taking In Part 3
"Tell me more."
He paused before continuing, "Their main force is made up of Spirit Kings, Spirit Emperors, and even Titled Ones. The one who leads them is said to be the Supreme Pope, a Titled One with strength few can match."
’Wow, what a grand introduction,’ Reign said with a smirk. ’I wonder if people will talk about me like that too—’
’Oh, right. I killed them all. Guess there wasn’t anyone left to tell the tale.’
Kang turned to Reign, hoping for a sign of sympathy.
Instead, his master was grinning like a maniac..
"Oh, don’t mind me. I was just imagining how I’ll tear that Spirit Sect apart for you. Do you know where their headquarters is?"
"Master, the Spirit Sect’s main base is far from here. But they have a local branch nearby. They’re the ones who sent those people to kill me earlier."
"Alright, let’s go pay them a visit."
A few minutes later—
"That’s their local branch,"
Reign glanced at the place. It looked more like a compound, with dozens of buildings clinging to the side of a steep mountain.
"This place is mostly guarded by mid-level Spirit Masters. The highest-ranking officers here are Spirit King. Still dangerous, but nothing like the core branches."
"I don’t really care. Everyone looks weak to me regardless of ranks. Now listen, kid—let me show you what real fighting looks like. What you did back there? Pathetic. Watch closely."
A golden ring formed behind Reign. Its glow pulsed with pressure, and the shape of a coiled serpent wrapped around it, scales gleaming like molten light.
It wasn’t real, not in the traditional sense. Just visual effect—illusions formed from divine creation. But the pressure it gave off? That was real.
Kang’s breath caught in his throat. ’No way... a million-year spirit ring?’
"Kid, my beast is called the Golden Asura Snake. Never settle for less when forming your rings. Look at how magnificent it is compared to your weak little snake."
Kang opened his mouth but no words came out.
"Now, for some fun." He stepped forward and released a burst of pressure. No flashy moves—just pure force.
From inside, guards rushed out, startled and confused. Their armor glinted under the moonlight as spirit rings lit up one after another.
"Who dares—?"
Before they finished, Reign was already moving.
He leapt forward, no weapon drawn. His palm struck the nearest guard in the chest, sending him flying into the wall.
Another tried to block with a spirit blade, but Reign’s knee smashed into his jaw before he could swing.
They fell, one after another. None of them had time to react.
Kang watched from a distance, half in awe. These weren’t weak spirit users. Most were at least Grand Masters. But compared to Reign, they looked like new disciples.
From the second floor, a middle-aged man stepped onto the balcony. His robes marked him as one of the commanding officer of the branch.
Five spirit rings floated around him—two yellow, two purple, one black.
"Stop right there!" he shouted. "This is Spirit Sect’s territory. State your name!"
Reign looked up lazily. "You first."
The man sneered. "I am Elder Wu Hao . For attacking the Spirit Sect, you’ll be hunted down by every—"
Reign vanished before Wu Hao could finish speaking.
Suddenly a strong hand grabbed the spirit king by the throat.
His legs kicked uselessly as Reign lifted him off the ground.
Reign asked, "What is your rank?"
"S... Spirit King."
With a sharp twist, Reign broke Wu Hao’s neck and dropped the body to the floor.
He sneered, "I expected you to be at least a Spirit One to talk so much. Anyone else want to try?"
The other Spirit Kings who were watching broke into cold sweat. What they saw didn’t even look like a fight.
Normally, battle started with aura clashes, shouting techniques, and lots of talk.
But he didn’t follow any of that. He appeared and disappeared like a ghost, killing his opponents as if the difference between normal humans and Spirit Kings was non existent.
How was that even possible?
’Oh shit, did I move too fast? I was sure I only used 10% of my speed. ’
Just as he debated how much to hold back, four more Spirit Kings appeared.
They cupped their hands and bowed deeply toward him.
"Senior," they said in unison.
One stepped forward. "Please forgive our rashness, but may we ask why you’re attacking our Sect? Have we done something to offend someone as esteemed as yourself?"
"No," he shook his head. "But you made an enemy of one of my sla... disciple."
The Spirit Kings exchanged uneasy glances. Members of their sects were known for being arrogant, so it wasn’t hard to imagine that one of them had offended someone they shouldn’t have.
"A disciple of yours? That’s a serious matter. Please, tell us how we can make it right. We’re willing to offer 100,000 gold coins as compensation—along with fulfilling any reasonable request."
"100,000 gold coins?" Reign raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. "Is that what you think my disciple’s worth? Are you trying to insult me?"
"No, of course not!" the Spirit King quickly corrected himself. "Two hundred thousand gold coins!"
"Are you kidding me?" Reign’s voice dropped cold. "I’ll just kill all of you if that’s the case. Be careful with your next offer... because if you piss me off again, it’ll be your last."
Four golden rings appeared behind his back, each one glowing with a distinct symbol—dragon, phoenix, qilin, and tiger. freёnovelkiss-com
The aura they gave off shook the ground beneath their feet.
Everyone froze in place.
THUD!
Their knees gave out under the pressure. Cold sweat trickled down their backs, and none dared to breathe too loudly.
"Four... million-year rings?" one of them whispered, barely able to speak.
Another mumbled . "What kind of monster did we offend?"
Their pride as Spirit Kings shattered instantly.
Whatever they thought they were facing—it wasn’t just strong. It was overwhelming.
Something far beyond anything they could understand.
