Chapter 216: Chapter 4

"How boring," Takamura yawned, the sound echoing through the unnaturally quiet school courtyard.

With a flick of his wrist, he tossed the unconscious and bleeding body of Matsuda Sosuke onto the pavement. ๐’ป๐‘Ÿโ„ฏโ„ฏ๐‘ค๐‘’๐‘๐‘›๐˜ฐ๐“‹๐‘’๐“.๐’ธ๐‘œ๐˜ฎ

The Student Council President, who only moments ago had been the undisputed leader of this district, now lay in a tangled heap of torn silk and bruised ego, his spirit energy completely extinguished.

Takamura stood over the scattered, broken bodies of the Saint Shinomiya Highschool elite and couldnโ€™t help but shake his head in genuine disappointment.

With a sigh of disappointment, he adjusted his mohawk, his eyes scanning the carnage with the bored indifference of a man who had expected a challenge and found only a target made of sand.

"Whatโ€™s with these people?" he muttered, spatting on the concrete. "The โ€™eliteโ€™ of the 24th District? I hope that Kageyama brat, the so-called โ€™Kingโ€™ everyone keeps whispering about isnโ€™t as pathetic as them. If he is, this war is going to be over before I even get a decent workout."

He shoved his hands into his pockets, turned his back on the fallen academy, and began walking leisurely toward the main gates, humming a discordant tune.

To him, the result of this war was already a foregone conclusion.

With the District Leader and his strongest subordinatesโ€”the Eight Limbsโ€”in that state, the 24th District was now ripe for the taking.

The businesses, the territories, and their influence would flow to the Rebel Council like water down a drain.

"For now," Takamura mused, a dangerous, hungry smirk touching his lips, "I just need to find and beat that so-called King, and the entire district will fall into our hands. One head to take, and the rest follows."

But before he could even get far, the sharp vibration of his phone buzzed against his thigh.

Takamura paused, the humming stopping abruptly as he reached into his pocket and pulled out the device, his eyes narrowing as he saw the Caller ID flashing a single, heavy word: BOSS.

Without a momentโ€™s hesitation, his arrogant posture shifted into something more disciplined as he answered the call.

"...yes, Boss, donโ€™t worry," Takamura started, his voice regained some of its smugness. "Iโ€™ve already handled the situation at Saint Shinomiya. I took down the district leader and all his top subordinates. Theyโ€™re currently lying unconscious and injured in their own front lawn. Now, Iโ€™m on my way to hunt down that Kageyama Seijirou..."

The voice on the other end spoke, his cold and sharp as Takamuraโ€™s eyes widened, his brow furrowing in confusion.

"...Huh!? Call off the attack!?" he exclaimed, his voice rising in disbelief. "Why!? I have them on the ropes, Boss! I could have that personโ€™s head by midnight!"

The person on the other end didnโ€™t offer a debate, only a command, and Takamuraโ€™s jaw tightened, his expression souring into a mask of pure frustration.

"...Tsk. Fine. If thatโ€™s what you want," he spat, the fire in his eyes dimming. "How lame. We had them."

With that, the call ended with a sharp click.

Takamura stared at the darkened screen for a moment before once again pocketing his phone.

He kicked a loose stone, sending it flying through the streets as he shook his head and let out a heavy sigh of annoyance as he looked back at the darkened school building one last time.

"Well," he grumbled, "letโ€™s just treat it as that Kageyama brat got lucky today. Orders are orders, I guess."

With that, he turned on his heel and walked away into the cityโ€™s neon-lit shadows, leaving the defeated Saint Shinomiya students to the cold night air.

"Fully recovered!"

Inside the VVIP room of Nishimiya Private Hospital, Kageyama Seijirou stood up and stretched his limbs with a long, theatrical groan.

The sound of his bones popping in successionโ€”shoulders, back, and neckโ€”filled the quiet room as he let out a breath of pure satisfaction, feeling the divine, silver-gold Ki flowing through his veins with more vigor than ever before.

The holes in his stomach were gone, replaced by smooth, unscarred skin that felt reinforced by his Origin.

"How are you feeling?"

The voice was cool but filled with maternal warmth as Seijirou turned his head and saw his mother, Hakari, standing beside the door.

She hadnโ€™t moved an inch, her arms crossed over her chest, her sharp eyes evaluating his every movement with maternal scrutiny.

"Perfectly fine, mother," Seijirou grinned, offering her a thumbs-up. "Better than fine. I feel like I could punch a hole through a mountain."

Hakari nodded, a flicker of pride crossing her regal features before her stoic mask returned. "Good. Then let us go. Iโ€™ll drive you home myself. Those girls of yours have already been calling the hospital every twenty minutes. I believe theyโ€™ve prepared a feast to welcome you back to the living."

"Is that so?" Seijirou couldnโ€™t help but feel a genuine warmth in his chest as a touch of emotion reached his eyes. "I didnโ€™t expect them to go to so much trouble."

"You are indeed loved, Seijirou," Hakari said, turning to lead the way out of the room as she glanced back over her shoulder, a rare, dry wit in her voice. "Itโ€™s quite the achievement. Not even your grandfather was able to keep that many women in his life and maintain such a harmonious atmosphere back in his day. He usually had them at each otherโ€™s throats within a week."

Seijirou blinked, surprised by the sudden family history. "Wait, didnโ€™t grandpa only have grandma? I thought they were the ultimate loyal couple."

Hakari nodded as they walked through the hospital corridors, the staff bowing as they passed. "Yeah, he only ended up with her because he couldnโ€™t keep the others. They got tired of his nonsense, left, and married other men. He was quite the failure in the romance department."

"Heh. Lame," Seijirou said, acting smug as he adjusted his jacket. "I guess I just have a natural talent he lacked."

Hakari allowed herself a genuine, soft smile at his bravado. "Indeed. Now, donโ€™t waste time boasting. Let us go. The car is waiting."

With that, the two of them left the hospital, stepping out into the brisk morning air and immediately headed to the underground parking lot, where Hakariโ€™s silver Rolls Royce Phantom was parked in a designated private space, shimmering under the overhead lights.

They entered the plush, leather-scented interior, and Hakari took the wheel herself, the engine purring to life with a whisper as they drove off.

On the road, the city blurred past in a smear of glass and steel.

Hakari kept her eyes on the path ahead, her hands steady on the wheel.

"By the way, Seijirou," she said suddenly, her tone shifting. "I wonโ€™t be staying at the house. I have something else important to attend toโ€”matters regarding our family and the board."

Seijirou blinked, looking over at her. "Canโ€™t you stay for just the night? The girls would love to have you, and I havenโ€™t seen you in forever."

Hakari shook her head, a small, knowing smirk playing on her lips. "Iโ€™m busy, Seijirou. And also... I donโ€™t particularly want to hear the sound of constant moanings through the walls when Iโ€™m trying to get some sleep. I know how your โ€™welcome homeโ€™ parties usually end."

"Mom, come on!" Seijirou sighed, his face turning a bright, uncharacteristic shade of red.

He looked out the window, feeling a wave of deep embarrassment wash over him.

No matter how calm, cool, and collected Seijirou could be in front of an enemy or a goddess, he was still a son.

Being exposed by his own mother regarding his private life was the one thing that could bypass his calm exterior.

In fact, he was sure that almost anyone would be mortified in this situation.

"Donโ€™t bother denying it," Hakari said, her voice amused. "Back then, your grandfather likes to bring home women almost every day, even when he knew I was sleeping next room. Honestly, Iโ€™m tired of it."

Seijirou groaned and leaned back into the soft leather seat, closing his eyes to hide his face. "Iโ€™m gonna take a nap. Wake me when weโ€™re there."

"Go on," Hakari said, her voice softening. "You earned the rest."

The motion of the car was smooth, the silence of the cabin acting as a lullaby.

Before he knew it, the exhaustion of the past few days caught up with him, and Seijirou fell into a deep, dreamless sleep.

"Seijirou..."

He groaned as he felt a gentle hand on his shoulder as he groggily opened his eyes, blinking against the late afternoon sun and instantly saw his mother leaning over him. "Mom?"

"Get up, sleepyhead. Weโ€™re at your house," Hakari said.

"Ah, thank you," Seijirou yawned, rubbing his eyes and opening the door as he stepped onto the familiar driveway, the scent of the garden air reviving him instantly before he looked back at her. "Are you sure youโ€™re not staying? Thereโ€™s plenty of food."

"Hm. Iโ€™m sure. I have something important to do, as I have already said," Hakari said, her expression turning serious for a moment before she smiled at him again. "Enjoy your time, Seijirou. Youโ€™ve worked hard."

With a wave of her hand, she drove off, the Rolls Royce disappearing down the street.

Seijirou watched until the car vanished from sight before turning and walking toward his front door as he felt a strange mix of nerves and excitement.

He reached for the handle, knocked twice, and pushed it open. "Iโ€™m backโ€”oophff!"

He didnโ€™t even get the words out before a blur of yellow and white burst toward him.

Suzune had lunged out of the hallway, tackling him with such force that they both nearly tumbled back onto the porch as she wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her face in his chest.

"Seijirou! Youโ€™re finally back!" she cried, her voice muffled by his shirt. "Welcome home! Donโ€™t you dare scare us like that ever again!"

"Boss! Congratulations on the full recovery!" Renjiโ€™s booming voice echoed from the living room.

"Seijirou! Welcome back!" Yukina, Rei, and Emi added, their voices overlapping in a joyful chorus.

Seijirou looked past Suzune, who was still hugging him tightly, and saw the entire group gathered in the decorated living room; Shou, Sakai, Renji, Haruka, Yuko, Yukina, Emi, Rindou, Touka, Rei, and Erina.

There were banners, a table overflowing with Yakiniku and side dishes, and everyone was smiling and laughing.

The tension of the hospital, the blood of the rooftop, and the weight of his destiny seemed to melt away.

He couldnโ€™t help but let out a soft, genuine chuckle as he reached down, patting Suzuneโ€™s head and looking at his friends.

"Yeah," Seijirou said, his voice thick with emotion. "Iโ€™m home."

Damn, he really love these guys!
