Villains Act Shamelessly: The Heiress was the Great National Master!-Chapter 266: Went Crazy After Getting Married
The two chatted for a while, and Chloe Shaw returned home.
Her expression didn’t look good; she had a gloomy face when she got home.
Seeing Landon Ford, she greeted him casually, "Oh, you’re here?"
Landon Ford nodded, and Thea Shaw noticed her bad expression and asked, "Sis, didn’t you handle your company’s issues well?"
"It’s not about the company."
Chloe Shaw glanced toward the kitchen and then whispered, "It’s all because of that jinx, Aunt Chase."
Thea Shaw immediately asked, "What happened? What happened?"
Chloe Shaw sighed deeply.
Chloe Shaw publicly insulted Aunt Chase’s family on social media, and the Shaw parents went to Aethelgard overnight. Aunt Chase’s family was surely pointed at by the local neighbors and definitely knew the reason.
But Aunt Chase isn’t someone simple; she complained and criticized Chloe Shaw when chatting with others, saying Chloe didn’t appreciate her.
But the problem was elsewhere; Aunt Chase couldn’t swallow her pride and sought out the person who told her Chloe Shaw’s current residence and address.
That person was Chloe Shaw’s good friend, currently working in her hometown. When the friend got married, Chloe Shaw gave a generous gift, and though they chatted less after the wedding, Chloe Shaw would still occasionally share about herself.
She never expected her friend would stir up trouble in this matter. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Aunt Chase felt confident enough to bring her nephew over because the friend said Chloe Shaw didn’t have a boyfriend and was eager to find one. When Aunt Chase approached, the friend didn’t hesitate much to sell Chloe Shaw’s address.
Moreover, she had met Aunt Chase’s nephew and knew what kind of good-looking person he was.
Aunt Chase revealed this matter, and others naturally told Chloe Shaw. She couldn’t believe it and went to ask her friend.
Initially, she didn’t angrily interrogate; she just asked why she would give out her address.
In response, the friend, in a panic, threw out some moral arguments, saying Chloe was already so old and not marrying was unfilial, and questioned why she was so focused on work, insisting marriage and having children was the right path.
Later, Chloe replied unhappily with some harsh words, to which her friend directly shot back, "You just love flaunting yourself in front of me, don’t you? So what if you have a good job and earn a lot? Your standards are so high; he’s been relocated to Aethelgard for work, doesn’t he match you?"
Chloe Shaw was stunned at the time.
She had known this friend for so many years and never thought she’d be like this.
It turned out her friend had resented her for a long time, thinking every time Chloe complained about work, she was showing off. The friend always believed that earning a monthly salary in the tens of thousands and still being ungrateful was Chloe’s deliberate flaunting.
Chloe Shaw blurted out a curse, "Damn it, she’s borrowed money from me several times. Last time, when her kid was sick, she said she needed ten thousand; I lent it without a second thought. She still owes me thirty thousand, and I’ve never pressed her for it, yet in her eyes, all I do is flaunt."
Thea Shaw clicked her tongue, "When a bird grows big, it’s bound to find a nest. Can this even be considered a friend? Isn’t it just that she can’t stand you being well-off?"
Chloe Shaw vented angrily, "She used to be pretty normal; never thought she’d go crazy after getting married."
Thea Shaw wisely sighed, "Not marrying is the way to peace."
Landon Ford: "..."
He felt that Thea Shaw’s words were somewhat misguided, frowning as he looked at her.
Thea Shaw felt Landon Ford’s gaze and looked at him innocently, "What? Don’t you think so too?"
Landon Ford: "..."
